Ben Howland Remains Interested In USC

We hear former UCLA coach Ben Howland has informed some influential (wealthy) USC donors that he is interested in the Trojans basketball job, which was then conveyed to the USC administration.

    Dear god please no.

You’ve CERTAINLY hired WORSE in the past and you could do worse than Howland this time around. However….I understand your concern. SUCks “student” athletes are rarely properly desciplined for their dumb behavior and Ben is pretty much a “BY THE BOOK” kind of guy. CBH is probably toooo ethical for LIMBO U.
      fit on torgans…

        1. We’ve obviously hired worse. That doesn’t make him a great choice. That’s like saying, “our last coach was Karl Dorrell, Neuheisel is a fantastic choice!”.
        2. About the whole discipline thing – are you just going to ignore that whole Nelson Reeves thing?
        3. Discipline doesn’t necessarily equate to ethical behavior. Nazis were very disciplined.

          Fucla can’t find anybody

Why not? He’s the perfect bookend to Kiffin, two absolute a-holes.

I’d have to see his wife before I can make any such judgement.

looks like C-Buck may be RIGHT AGAIN!!!

  • Bru-Crew_UCLA

Take him, he’s all yours. He lost his L.A. mojo. Most high school coaches in the area are steering their players away from him. That should be a match made in heaven for a BB team that’s less relevant than the student body flash mob hacky sack team.

I love these posts that are all ‘YOUR TEAM IS THE WORST TEAM EVER IN THE HISTORY OF TIME’.

Then how did you lose to us?

A lot of top notch coaches obviously think Fucla is as well. Who will dump on the bRuins next? ROFLMAO

      You’re a stooge. Hahaha

I’d rather hire some other ex-UCLA coaches before Ben, like Lavin or Larry Brown.

  • Golden Trojan

Hey if Karreem doesn’t get the UCLA job maybe Haden will hire him instead.

  • Jethro G Sabbath

Slow, hard to watch basketball, timeouts after our own made baskets, running off a top recruit or two every year, surly disposition:
    Sign me up!

  • rusoviet

Yeah then again i can’t wait for the ‘family feud’ when Jabbar -Alcindor’s request to be the bel-airians new men’s BB coach is denied then again maybe it will go the other way for an even bigger laugh.

The bRuins should go after bRuinRob! He just took his YMCA Boys Team (9years old and under) to the finals of the Boy’s Club Sandusky Tournament. Unfortunately, they were blown away.

Howland would be perfect for USC, but I don’t have confidence that whoever is in charge of recruiting the BB coach is enlightened enough to hire him.

  • JayJR

    Dear Pat Haden,

Please just hire this guy so we all can move on. Howland makes the most sense unless you like being used as a pawn by hot coaches a other schools to get their AD to improve their contracts.

  • Gilligan

This would be a BAD hire. If the SI article is true, he can’t recruit Southern Cali and why flush the BB program more into the toilet. I would prefer Floyd over Howland. I still say USC should make history by hiring Cheryl Miller.
