The safety suffered a torn labrum in his left hip and decided he would skip surgery and try rehabilitation instead. Past USC athletes, including former offensive lineman Jeff Byers, underwent the same operation and were sidelined for a year or sometimes required a follow-up operation, so this is a tricky call for an athlete.
Wright said he felt like he would miss the season if he had surgery.
“I don’t think I’d be ready,” he said.
Wright needs to do exactly what he feels is in his best interest as life will go on, but your body is all you got.
