Revisionist History

If you listened to Lane Kiffin’s interview with Petros and Money yesterday, you heard him challenge a question about USC sending a lot of players to the NFL recently. His theory is the Trojans have less talent and less depth and less players drafted, which helps explain a 7-6 record last season.

If that is true, why did USC go 8-5 in 2010 with a nation-leading nine players taken in the NFL draft? I made that comment to Kiffin at Pac-12 media day in 2011 but did not get an answer.

  1. Didnt USC have a complete 85 players in 2010? Sanctions are hurting recruiting and depth, not players already on the team.. Really Wolf?

  2. How could any head coach at any University take a question from cellar dweller like Scotty. Even Mora would tell Scotty to pound sand and go back to making the cheerleaders feeling uncomfortable.

    • “Why the silence Coach Kiffin!?”, bellowed the brave reporter from the angry horde of Trojan-hangers on. As he was being pushed away from the mic by the goon-ish, overpaid, no-talent assistant coaches (who knew a no-good principled reporter when they saw one), the courageous and thoughtful sportswriter yelled, “The people have a right to know! When a coach says something that goes against logic, and is a VERY important subject, he needs to answer for that! Am I the only writer who is not a cow in this room??! You may have them fooled, but not me!!! End this tyranny you pock on visors!! Let my trolls go!! Let troll-dom ring!!” The audience was in tears. Scott was in tears. Kiffin had his head between his palms.

And now we know why Scott has to resort to getting his information from sources that anybody could access with two or three mouse-clicks: he’s just insanely principled, thoughtful and classy.

  3. Scotty is having his own “Revisionist History” here, it’s not like the 2009 team was championship team, by the end of the year that team couldn’t care less about playing games. SLOW NEWS DAY GRIPS SPRINGFIELD

    • You’re having your own “Revisionist History” here. The 2009 team was ranked #4 in the preseason, which would mean it was considered championship caliber and loaded with talent.

      • I didn’t say anything about that team not having talent, more about how they played and actually finished the season. Pre-Season rankings don’t mean anything; I just have to point out the UW and Oregon games from that year, maybe on paper it was a championship team, but it’s play on the field sure didn’t show it. That loss to AZ to close the year didn’t show me any promise for the next season to believe that the team was going in the right direction and the following year was basically more of the same.

  4. Wolf, any and all the crap you get for this post you deserve. You opened the door wide open. When was the last time Kiffin answered one of your questions?
