Linebacker Crunch For Lamar Dawson

One of the contradictions of spring practice is how linebacker Lamar Dawson is consistently referred to as the defensive MVP or having the best spring of a defensive player, yet appears to be second string behind Anthony Sarao.

USC starts two linebackers in its new 5-2 formation and Hayes Pullard is the middle linebacker, Dawson’s position the previous two seasons.

“We have three starters for two positions,” linebackers coach Mike Ekeler said. “I’d like to have four starters.”

  1. Maybe Wolf should take a course on football.

He still thinks “5-2” only needs 2 traditional linebackers. I’d hate to think what he thinks a 46 defense means. There is no true “mike” position when you’re in a 5-2 “over” alignment.

You’ll see in Pullard’s recent YouTube video posted by Trojanathletics exactly what I’m talking about.

  2. LOLOL came to this blog for the first time in forever! Whattaya know? Looked down at the Kessler long TD post and it’s still Thai/Bucket bickering with TrojanFan lmfao. What a pathetic life. Back to NOT visiting this blog I guess hahaha enjoy, losers.

To the true Trojans: FTFO. See you in 4 1/2 months.

    • OWN’S…..Has that nasty rash, you know, the one given to you by nubsie, cleared up yet?

      fit on Torgan
      (5 & 8……it’s gonna be g-r-e-a-t)

  3. Congratulations to Mike Ekeler on his instinct for diplomacy. Talk about knowing how to handle the press! Well done!

  4. It’ll be interesting to see if Dawson, now relegated to “non-starter” status will be allowed to keep his #55 jersey.
