“`I’m ready and willing to go against each and every corner in the league,” Woods said after being drafted by the Bills in the second round.
“It’s a blessing that they picked me,” the USC safety said about being selected by the Rams. Again, McDonald picked above Matt Barkley. Who knew?
Who ever thought safety T.J. McDonald would be selected over Matt Barkley. But he gets to go to the Rams, the rival of his father’s team, Tim McDonald.
Here’s what USC WR Robert Woods said about playing with new Bills QB EJ Manuel.
“When he got drafted to the Bills I gave him a shout out,” Woods said. “It was one of those things where I’ve seen him on trips. I went to Dallas for kind of like an All-Star skills challenge. We’ve built a relationship and now we can grow it even more. I look forward to the opportunity to play with him. He comes from a winning program and hopefully we can do great things at the next level.”
Do you really think those NFL experts who said Matt Barkley’s stock did not slip by returning for his senior season look accurate tonight? No way Barkley slipped to third round last year with his stats and success.
The second round is through 57 picks and still no Matt Barkley. The Seahawks have the 62nd pick. They don’t need a QB but how a reunion with Pete Carroll?
Buffalo Bills scout Brad Forsyth on the team’s second-round pick, Robert Woods.
“He is as polished a receiver as I’ve seen in a while,” Forsyth said. “He really understands how to play the game. He’s faster than I think a lot of people give him credit for. He knows how to use his speed. He knows how to separate. A really, really good route runner.
“He just knows how to set things up, set DBs up, work the coverages and he’s got great hands and ball skills. Once he gets it he knows what to do with it too.”
Remember Woods faced new Bills coach Doug Marrone in September and caught 10 passes for 93 yards, scored two touchdowns, had a 76-yard run for a TD and set up a TD with a great punt return.
That probably convinced Marrone as much as any film he watched.
Wow, Robert Woods goes ahead of Matt Barkley. Good for the classy wide receiver who was a model player/leader/teammate in his three years at USC. He will catch passes from EJ Manuel now.
The West Virginia QB finally gets selected with 39th pick. Next target for Matt Barkley is Raiders at No. 42.
