Lane Kiffin was asked about Matt Barkley today and did not address why Barkley slid to the fourth round. Instead he spoke about Barkley going to play for ex-Oregon coach Chip Kelly.
“It’s a great organization for Matt. I think it probably shocked a lot of people in what the assumptions were what Chip was looking for in a quarterback. (But) Chip talked to me about Matt early on.”
Kiffin knows everyone feels strongly he was responsible for Barkley’s slippage. Barkley’s one chance is Kelly, knowing a running QB can get hurt instantly in the NFL, isn’t intent on operating the exact Oregon offense.
