USC Safety T.J. McDonald Challenges To Start With Rams

USC safety T.J. McDonald competed in his first practice at Rams mini-camp and could start as the Rams no longer have last year’s starters, Quintin Mikell and Craig Dahl.

“Some people say maybe he didn’t have as good a year this year as last year,” Rams coach Jeff Fisher said of McDonald. “We addressed it. There were some reasons for that, but he’s a good football player.”

  1. I may well be wrong, but I always felt the same way about Barkley and McDonald–USC didn’t set the bar high enough for either one of them. Each reached a certain level, and a pretty high level for CFB, and then we never heard regular coaching dissatisfaction with their continuing errors. I didn’t hear either player say in an interview that the coaches had asked for this or that specific mental or physical correction. I heard a lot of “I’m just trying to get better.” What does that mean? The facts say “not much.”
