Former USC Offensive Line Coach Tim Davis Grabs Spotlight In Florida

The SEC was chattering today about these comments from Florida offensive line coach Tim Davis.

“I’ve always wanted to work with (Florida coach) Will (Muschamp),” Davis said. “Will’s got a plan. Will coached under the devil himself for seven years. I only did three. He did seven. And his DNA is not any different than Nick.”

Davis was USC’s offensive line coach from 2002-04 and players that knew him said when he left Heritage Hall he had some colorful comments regarding Lane Kiffin.

  1. I read the title, then asked myself, “Ok…where’s the dig at Lane Kiffin??”

    Scott didn’t fail to disappoint.

I could only imagine how long Scott takes to get over a break up. (If he’s ever been with a woman that is.)

  2. LamontRaymond has it right – two things to worry about in life – loaded guns and microphones and worse when the comment makes its way to print – it just get’s read over and over and over.

Never burn bridges although in fairness I truly don’t sense Kiffin is the vindictive type. Dumb move Davis – the guy gave you a job.

  3. I agree with LamontRaymond that Davis would probably like to have that one back. Saban was a head coach. Then PC was the devil for Davis? Or LK? What were those colorful remarks about LK?

Do you think it was easy to work for Jack Welch? How about Bill Gates? How about George Patton? Do you think it was easy to play with Michael Jordan? In general, high achievers expect a lot from themselves, and from those around them.

I like when journalists capture candid remarks. I liked when Robert Woods remarked that if USC’s coaches wanted him back, they would have gotten him the ball more (implying that too many plays were called for Lee). I liked when Matt Barkley seconded said that the 2012 offense focused too much on Lee, became predictable, and that Matt wishes he had been more assertive about that with LK.

But Scott didn’t provide the detail to make Davis’s remark substantive or interesting.

  4. Davis worked under Saban for three years with the Dolphins. Im not a Kiffen fan but that’s just lazy journalism. Do your homework first.

  5. Tim Davis should have stayed at USC as its line coach and we wouldn’t be in the mess we are in with the rushing game! Tim Davis doesn’t like Lane Kiffin…. big surprise!
