USA Today Reports Pat Haden No. 2 A.D. In Nation with $2.2 Million Salary In 2011

The newspaper said Haden made $2.2 million in 2011 based on federal tax returns. That means he made more in 2012. Vanderbilt’s s David Williams made more than $3.2 million in 2011 but he held multiple titles at the university.

USC’s tax returns also showed Lane Kiffin made $2.6 million in 2011 and former defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin made $1.8 million. So Monte Kiffin probably made more than $2 million last season when he presided over the worst defensive performance in the 124-year history of USC football when Oregon amassed 730 yards and 62 points at the Coliseum. I was somewhat surprised by the $2.2 million figure. I don’t know his compensation at the Riordan investment firm; the
compensation at USC may have been a significant reduction. Still, when Haden accepted the job, I recall his explaining his decision with a reference to his deceased mother and being at an age that he wanted to make a contribution.

Things that make you go hmmm…

    Not a best value.

It seems too exorbitant for a care taker who is a figure head so far. They will
not spend that kind of money in total on a baseball coach, volleyball coach or
swim coach for the men which are needed. Does that extra 200K mean that much to Haden or for taxes and agents.

I’d rather have Garrett for 1/2 price….in fact it might have been 1/4! $2.2M? What a Fing joke. And Haden is KILLING our athletics.

What price do you put on sanctions and the hiring of Lane Kiffin and Kevin O’Neill?

      • http://twitter.com/FatBooster Joe Blow

A lot less than hiring Pete Carroll, Jovan, Allice, Smith, I could go on. How much of the $2.2 would you attribute to Patty’s little “broadway” waste of time and the athletic program going down the drain?
BTW, save your breathe on D. Gross. Mike hired him too

Haden has been a disaster. The only thing worse would have been putting the program on sanctions and hiring Kiffin.

You choose between the Titanic and the Hindenberg. I’d prefer neither.

Look, I don’t think Kiff has been good overall. Last year his attitude was horrible. However, Haden is so concerned with his persona, he did not do anything with Kiff. Do you really think at the Alamo Bowl, in the locker room, that if MG was there, that all the BS would have happened? Really? Haden was there. My point is that NONE of the teams are BETTER under Haden. In fact, they are worse for the most part. MG was surly, but at least we were winning. I’ll take that any day. BTW, you wouldn’t see MG wasting his time going over to the Drama School to waste a bunch of time. $2.2M???? What a Fing joke. Only an idiot would somebody give money to the Athletic Dept.
