Winners And Losers Of The Week

Winners

Desean Holmes

Wide receiver is still a sophomore but picked up scholarship offer from USC.

Annie Park

Freshman wins NCAA individual golf title and leads USC to its third team title. And she graduated from high school a year early.

Mike Williams

Former USC WR gets another chance after signing with the Toronto Argonauts.

USC baseball

The season comes to a merciful end today. Will Dan Hubbs be named permanent coach or will Pat Haden start another search?

Losers

Eddie Vanderdoes

Dragged out recruiting process until Signing Day and apparently it’s still not over.

Matthew Thomas

Linebacker’s status is just as murky as Vanderdoes.

Hype machine

FRESHMAN

Is it too much to think USC could tone down some of its videos and posters and focus more on accomplishment?

Small donors

Does USC even need them these days when you see gifts like the $70 million Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine gave last week or the unspecified amount Glorya Kaufman (KB Home) gave the School of Dance?

  1. Wait, you are complaining that USC has received huge donations to name schools? Only you could find any sort of fault with that. I’d bet if someone gave you a Ford Mustang that you’d complain that you had to pay for gas.

Or are you looking for a justification not to donate back to your alma mater?

  2. You’ll have to excuse my friend. He’s a little slow. The town is back that way.

  3. “On September 19, 2006, USC announced that alumnus George Lucas had donated US$175 million to expand the film school with a new 137,000-square-foot (12,700 m2) facility….. This represented the largest single donation to USC and the largest to any film school in the world”…… so what?… small donors are always welcome, too, but if you don’t want to donate to your Alma mater, Wolf, or cannot afford to, then don’t………
