  1. We hear and see the CB’s and secondary are getting over run by the WR’s. Do you think this will eventually help the secondary?

Also, do you think that Kiffin will play both QB’s vs Hawaii?

    • That’s true and I’ve seen it happen in practice especially with Angolar and Lee catching deep balls.

Clancy’s defense often plays “cover 0” with no help over the top. I don’t know if this will be done in the real games as often as in practice. In practice, it makes the CBs accountable playing on “an island”.

Even if cover 0 is deployed in real games, I don’t see any teams having the deep threats we do.

  2. After this final year of scholarship reductions, the team will really need to restock the roster. I believe there will be about 30-40 spots open. Can the football team sign this many recruits at once? Will they have to gray shirt guys to make it work?

  3. Why does USC time after time after time go cheap on non revenue head coaches ? The recent hires for women’s basketball and the track program seem to be done on the cheap when far more qualified and established coaches were available. Does the school not have the money to pay for a top level coach for these sports ? IMO, USC should be challenging for NC’s in every sport they offer simply do to the fact that they are in a huge metro area as well as the academic draw, having poor non revenue sports is unacceptable.

  4. Hi Scott,

Other than learning the play book, how does Ty Issac from what you may have seen, look in person as far as speed, physical tools etc, compared to the other backs ?

    Thank you

  5. Scott, UCLA baseball keeps winning and SC, well, they’ve been done for a month. With inferior programs now in all the major sports, what’s the vibe like inside SC’s athletic department? And what does Stanford’s continued overall success do to the idea that private schools can’t compete in some of the scholy-restricted sports?

    • “Spedjones” what is the vibe like inside of your head where your UCLA inferiority complex compels you to regular visitor on this blog?

    • Also, what is the vibe among UCLA football fans knowing that USC leads the series by 17 games, has more national titles and Heismans, and also won the most lopsided game of the series, referring to the 50-0 demolition that happened last year

      • LOL. 38-28 happened last year. #1 to UN happened last year. Lane happened last year. BOOM!

        • Hahaha of course you dodged the questions because you had no answer to them, spoken like a true bRuin. Way to represent man! LOL

  6. Hi Scott,

From your dealings with Lane Kiffin, do you believe he can be man enough and honest enough with himself, to correct some of his poor coaching decisions from 2012 moving forward in light of the perceived hot seat he is on for 2013 ?

    • Ah…come on Elmer…Scooter just tells it like it is. The good news is that you are still a young man in high school. There’s plenty of time for you to grow up and see things as they really are. Maybe all you need to see is a few more football players arrested, or for Goat Boy (you like him, don’t you?) to screw up and get caught, then you’ll realize what a sh!thole that “Institution of Higher Liearning” is.
Till then…”shalamisumadre”…(roughly translated, it means something about a hairy chicharon).
      Best regards Young Man!

  7. wolfman, do you think Witteck can recover from the shell-shocking he received against ND and GA tech?? it is hard to forget the “get me outta here!” look on his face in the bowl game!! i suggested all along that Kiff would regret not playing the Pious Passer’s backups more last season instead of padding Pious’ stats at every opportunity!! we have seen how a freshman can have his confidence shattered by putting them into bad situations.

    so two part question:

    1) can Witteck recover? (i say no)

    2) did the Pious Passer exacerbate the situation by goofing off during the bowl game rather than encouraging Witteck or showing some support?? i watched the game and they kept showing Pious off to the side way behind the bench cutting up with some buddy of his, laughing and joking as Wittteck was falling apart.

  8. Scott,

Thanks for the great blog and superb reporting. Important question: Why does the university limit the amount of photos of Layla Kiffin? I’ve scene pics removed from USC athletic website postings from various events she attends with Lane. And if you look at the photos released from the “Football for For CHICKS 101”, there was only one close-up of her, and only a few of her far off in the background. I thought she was hosting the event??? This happens all the time. I’d have to imagine she is around a lot more than what the photos represent… I believe this issue/scandal deserves more of your attention. She is hot and among the only positives with the football program right now… Thank you.

  9. Scott Wolf, what are your thoughts on how your blog is considered a joke that is rarely ever taken seriously, and why is it that 80% of the comments and questions on this blog revolve around ridiculing and demeaning you?

  10. I often hear your voice in the press conferences so I assume you are attending many of the practices.

However, I you never quote a player directly, interview a player, or report anything happening at practice beyond your euro gradings.

Are those reporting activities not allowed by USC?

  11. Interestingly, the fUCLA football program just declared itself as “Linebacker U” on twitter. Your thoughts?

      • Who’s Anthony Barr? Caddy for Mathews? Malaluga? Sartz? The list could go forever. Laughable.

        • … Seau, McGinest, Claiborne, Cushing, Tatupu (father & son), Rivers, Matthews (Bruce, Clay Jr., Clay III) … Anyone care to add?

          • Chip Banks….Rod Martin…..Riki Ellison (Gray)….Keith Browner….Jack Del Rio…. Duane Bickett…..Zeke Moreno… Markus Steele…..Oscar Lua… Dallas Sartz…..Kaluka Maiava…..I rest my case…….

      • Funny how many Bruin fans are celebrating Barr as the knight that “slayed the dragon”.

Even my Bruin friend summed that play up, “I don’t know why everyone keeps making a big deal of it. If I was unblocked like he was, I could’ve made that sack!”

If anything, it was LT Adduray Walker who made that sack possible. The guy blocked Pasadena air.

  12. Are either George Horton or Pat Murphy candidates for the baseball job? I really like Murphy but there is NCAA baggage.

  13. Is it true Barbara Hedges was elected to the USC Hall of Fame for her undercover work destroying the #1 ranked UW football program from the inside?

  14. Scott,

With the ongoing coverage of the current exploits of Matt Barkley and Pete Carroll do you think a more appropriate name for this site would be “Things tangentially related to USC”?
