About The Track Hire

One critique I’ve heard this week regarding the hiring of Central Florida’s Caryl Smith Gilbert as the new track coach is that she never coached a men’s team. Has that been an argument against hiring a man to run a women’s program?

It is essentially a moot point if Smith Gilbert hires an assistant on the men’s side with experience coaching men’s teams. And track is such an individual sport, the position coach is always more important anyway.

  1. If her name was Caryl Sam Gilbert would she slide money to athletes, pay for girlfriends to get abortions, etc?

  2. You would like to think that Pat Haden, the AD of the premier track power that is USC, would hire a woman who had at least had the minimal experience of coaching a mans’ team at another college or high school first.

  3. Another brick in the building Trojan college sports dynasty by Pat Haden. The foundation was built with golf, tennis, and water polo. Basketball and track are next. Then comes the baseball hire. Football will be his crown jewel. The Trojan Nation is on the rise! Fight ON!

    • Time to sign the Lame Kitten to a guaranteed 10-year extension to lock him in to keep him from signing elseswhere, like Michelle Obama elementary school!

  4. Went cheap on the women’s basketball hire, got a former player with a checkered past when far better candidates were out there. Went cheap on the track hire, not to mention it was a beautiful politically correct move as well, I bet a call was never made to the Texas A&M coach. Allice “retires” and this women is hired in what, a week ? That’s some search unless Allice was forced out The baseball coach will probably be a cheap hire as well.

  5. Have you seen Caryl Smith Gilbert – She can coach me any day!
“ALHRIGHT ALHRIGHT ALHRIGHT!, you gon learn today!”
