A Stat That Is Too Much To Ignore

When you hear all the talk later this month from Lane Kiffin about last year being unique and how USC was 6-1 until it blew the Arizona game, remember this stat:

Kiffin is 0-11 at USC after trailing by 7+ points in the second half and 2-17 as an FBS head coach in those games.

  1. Hey remember when Pete Carroll was the KING of Second half adjustments?
Thought Kiffin or Sr. Kiffin would have had some of that in their tank…

    NOPE!

    • Perhaps kiffin will go deeper into the tank if he wants to keep his job.

Pete was definitely the master at making second half defensive adjustments. The one exception was Vince Young

  2. Yes, remember the stat, but completely disregard the devastating impact of the sanctions handed down by the NCAA…..is this one of your preemptive strikes, Scott?….Kiffin hasn’t even mentioned what you have claimed, but just in case he does, this stat should shut him down. ….good thinking. ….

    • One minute here Torgan Whore’s…….Where’s that “HARD BLOWIN Samoan” fool that used to hang around here when SO Cal was winning….you know him…his screen handle was “OUR 75 is BETTER Than YOUR 85”. I seem to recall he had TRUCKLOADS of believers/followers. Where did they all go?
      fit UN torgan!

      • Do you have a problem with mentioning Kennedy Polamalu by name? Or is this your cute way of cutting down positive thinking by a high quality human being? What else should he have said?

        • Torgan Whore’s

NEITHER of your guesses was anywhere near the truth. I never would have guessed the Hard Blowin’ Samoan (SCREEN NAME- “our 75 is better than your 85”) was actually Dum Dee Dum Dum. He never actually identified himself. He would post on this site and come across like some DUMB BLOWHARD.
BTW…it’s not nice to divulge people’s actual identities…Jezzzro (the bore) learned the hard way and was banned from this site. I won’t RAT U OUT to the Powers that be, but you really need to exercise better judgement next time.
Re…What else should he have said…He could have told the truth and said…
          -we shouldn’t have “cheated”
          -Garrett screwed up
-we’re gonna go with the horse’s that brung us!
Pretty simple stuff for most people.

His ONE BIG MISTAKE….leaving Jacksonville to come work for Goat Boy, then being fired 2 seasons later. Live by the Sword, die by it.
          fit UN torgan

          • Jezro, i have issue with you using a profanity against an officer and a gentlemen in the United States Cadre!!

especially when you, by your OWN TESTIMONY, confessed to being banned from this site due to an unfair misinterpretation of one of your comments.

thus the genesis of the Handle Jezro G. Sabbath!!!

Jezro, how could you forget such a momentous event??

does the G. stand for Geriatric??

perhaps an apology to Thai is in order here???

          • The walls need more paint

All members of the cadre need a cranium scan

Quit acting like a 8===D and antagonizing everyone

          • That’s right. You guys ran to the teacher and told on me.

You gotta admit that ThaiMex is a tool though with all his ranting, raving AND CAPITALIZING!!!!!

          • okay so lets recap:

            1) you admit you lied
            2) you admit you called Thai a profanity under false pretenses
            3) you now falsely accuse the Cadre of “telling on you”
            4) you did not apologize even thought you admit you were in the wrong.
            5) you attempted CHANGE THE SUBJECT

Jezro this is very disappointing. it takes a big man to admit he was wrong. i have no choice but to find you in CONTEMPT!!

          • What the fuc is wrong with you. Normal people didn’t act this way. You have some serious mental issues. If something is missing in your pathetic life, this blog is not the place to find it. Hire a life coach and move on

          • 1) I forgot. I don’t keep records like you do
            2) Since when is “tool” profane?
He recently told me “I was hoping the chemo wasn’t working”
Tell more which is more offensive.
            3) You do it and are proud of it
            4) Quit whining
            5) Not the first time that has happened here

    • Except for the Sunshine Pumpers on this blog who still defend Kiffin. How pathetic!

  3. and who was Kiff’s QB in ALL THOSE GAMES???

    the PIOUS PASSER, that’s who!!!

oh, Chucker-Bucker, you’ve done it AGAIN!!!

  4. Typical context free Wolf post.

Off the top of my head (and some Wikipedia research), from 2002 to 2009, Pete Carrol was 6-7 when down 7 or more at the half. In 2001, I think Pete was 1-3 when down 7 or more at the half, but I am not sure.

But USC under Carroll had not come back from being down 7+ at the half since 2005. That means for 4 years Pete never came back from a 7 point deficit at the half.

From 2002 thru 2005, PC was an amazing 6-1 when down 7 or more at the half. That was when the Pac-10 was at its competitive weakest (Buddy Bivens! Dirk Koetler! Bob Toledo/Karl Dorrell! Kevin Gilbertson! John Mackovic!). After 2005, the Pac-10 got slowly better. Pete was 0-3 when down 7 or more in 2009.

The point is not that Pete sucks and Lane sucks, it is that most of the time, if you are down 7 at the half, you are going to lose the football game. 2002 to 2005 was an anomaly.

Oh yeah, the point is also that Wolf sucks.

    • And, using Wolf logic (which is really just throwing facts around willy-nilly), you can argue that then Lane was passing game co-ordinator/the OC, USC was 6-1 when down 7 or more at the half, and that Carroll never recovered when he left for Oakland.

That isn’t true, but using Wolf logic, it is!

      • “There are lies, damned lies and statistics.” – popularized by Mark Twain ….proven once again by Wolf….

    • Correction. Pete Carroll, from 2001 to 2009, was 5-9 when trailing by 7 or more at the half, with 4 of the combacks in the 2005 anmaly season (because the defense was bad and the offense ridiculously good). Or, more to the point, Matt Lenart was 5-1 when trailing by 7 or more at the half.

Which proves more than anything else that Wolf sucks.

      • Or, put it this way: from 2001 to 2013, when Matt Leinart is not the starting QB, USC is 0 for 20 when down 7 or more at the half.

      • I am glad that someone around here is doing their homework before mindlessly commenting on this blog
