Baseball’s Bad Luck Continues

Can USC baseball get a break? The Trojans lost incoming freshman and 30th-round pick Rowdy Tellez to the Toronto Blue Jays for $850,000, a record sum after the 10th round in baseball’s current draft system.

Tellez is rated much higher than the 30th round  but was believed to favor going to college. And to add salt to USC’s wound, the Blue Jays were unable to sign pitcher Phil Bickford, who turned down millions as the 10th overall pick in the draft and will instead go to Cal State Fullerton.

  1. Uh, he may have turned them down, but Toronto has until Bickford actually attends a class to sign him, this isn’t over.

  2. Was Bickford recruited? How close was he to picking USC over Fullerton? Even at that, how is a Fullerton commit not going pro salt in the wound? What’s next? “2-Star RB commits to San Jose State, USC football takes another major hit”

  3. CSUF will have an incredible staff next year. But can they overcoome the Wooden-esque fundamentas excellance of the Bruins? THAT is the question!
