Petros Papadakis Weighs In On Pat Haden Video

Radio host Petros Papadakis vented on Pat Haden’s show of support for Lane Kiffin and Kiffin’s contract during his radio show today.
“The one way USC could fully support Lane Kiffin? Give him a contract extension,” Papadakis said. “How can the A.D. sit there and say I’m 100 percent behind this guy when he has two years left on his deal? It doesn’t make sense when you are 100 percent behind a guy that you don’t extend him.”
Papadakis also played an interview from Friday where Kiffin said, “I do think it had an impact on our recruiting.”
The full commentary is here and starts around the 20-minute mark.

  1. Hey Petros, you are right! However, this kind of p.r. charade, rope a dope, smoke screen, is to be anticipated when you have a politician/attorney running an athletic department.

  2. Why would any top recruit honestly think that a coach will be around for 4-5 years because of a contract? See Chip Kelly. In today’s college football landscape, coaches leave in the middle of a contract. If you wanted to make a real point about Lane losing recruits, he is guilty of jumping ship in the past, a real issue with parents. When he bolted Tennessee for USC, that was all the ammo needed for opposing coaches to slam him in living rooms around the country. A contract with 2 years left or 4 years left would mean nothing at the end of the day. Lane, or any coach, can leave for the next best offer in a heartbeat. Recruits and their parents are aware of this fact. Lane agreeing with Petros and Money is more excuses. Own it Lane.

  3. In understand what Petros is saying but he has two years left.. At best USC will let him finish his contract.. Why does it matter to sign him to an extension now? We already know, no other teams want him, and he doesn’t want to leave USC ever!
So WHY SIGN HIM TO AN EXTENSION NOW?

    • Either fish or cut bait. Ohio State didn’t let 2 seasons go to waste, they went out and got Urban Meyer. Yet we have to watch our program waste away with this paranoid incompetent?

      • Worry about an extension when there is a need to worry about it.. School sign coaches to extensions because they are afraid of losing their coach to other opportunities..
USC does not need to worry about that right now.
