USC v. UTEP Matchup Unlikely

ATLANTIS

So much for the Isaac Hamilton Bowl, which was a possible USC v. UTEP matchup in the Battle 4 Atlantis Tournament in the Bahamas. But the tournament placed the teams in different brackets, which is the easy way out.  Now they only meet if both teams reach the finals. The Trojans play Villanova in their first game.

  1. I think this whole Tim Floyd thing is nonsense, and Scott Wolf is the only one who really cares. But, I need to correct your statement that the teams would only meet in the Championship — actually, the teams will meet if both lose their first game win their second game (game 9 in the diagram).

    • Or if both teams win their first games and lose their second games. So, there’s a pretty high probability that the two teams could play each other.

But otherwise agree with you that Wolf is the only one still trying to foment some drama and controversy from this issue.

  2. I don’t understand. …why couldn’t Scottie have figured this out?….. Was he testing the intelligence of his readers, or was he just being plain lazy?……His credibility as a reporter appears to have been yet further diminished. …
