A Vote For Josh Shaw

Maybe USC will be in a lot of nickel formations this season. But I think the Trojans are strongest when Josh Shaw is on the field, which can mean cornerback. So I’m a little surprised he wasn’t moved to cornerback (a position of weaknes) over the summer, which then allows Shaw, Su’a Cravens and Dion Bailey on the field at the same time.

Remember USC used another Josh (Pinkard) at cornerback to get him on the field.

  1. I’ve seen Torin Harris make tons of plays in practice along with Seymore.

I have a feeling the CB position is much better than we think because nearly everyone gets burned by Lee and Angolar.

    • That and the fact that they won’t have to play 10 yards off the receiver too.

    • Harris has been the worst player over the last 2 years. If he starts, we’re in big trouble.

  2. Clearly, you’re “Joshing” us, right Wolf?……Any thoughts about the change to the “choir” huddle alignment that will be implemented this season?……Per Greg Katz, “The Trojans version of the choir huddle is two rows of players with the offensive linemen standing behind the skill players with all their backs to the line of scrimmage while the Trojans quarterback stands facing his teammates with direct vision of the line of scrimmage.”…..Katz also notes (and takes a slight dig at Wolfie), “Now if you’re thinking that Kiffin is again copying the Oregon Ducks, who practice in the early morning and wear funky uniforms and cleats, cut the Trojans head coach some slack. There’s no way he took this from the folks in Eugene since the Ducks never huddle anyway.”……..

  3. I tend to doubt the scouting ability of a journalist who consistently demonstrates a lack of knowledge of the game.

  4. If it works and you want to put the best guys on the field then I say go with the nickel.. But I heard the CB’s have been playing much better
