  1. Oy, given all the “ORs” in that sucker I have no faith that that statement is true. One of my hopes coming in to this season was that LK would stop being so cute with things, commit to some kind of identity and try and build on that from week to week. We’re already off to a bad start. This guy over-thought EVERYTHING last year, and the saga continues – not just at QB but also CB, S, RB, and RG. He doesn’t strike me as a coach who can level with his own players. Despite their high level of play, Kessler and Wittek are very different types of QBs. If LK can’t decide who best fits what he’s trying to do on offense, after 6 months of evaluation, then I give up. But in reality this is probably more to do with massaging egos, and trying to keep one or the other from transferring.

He can probably get away with this scheme for the first three or four weeks (Utah State may be a trap game, they have a proven QB, and a team that pulled off 3 semi-significant upsets last year), but if this team is still trying to figure out their identity going into ASU, it’s going to be another long painful journey to the middle. Just man up LK, tear the band off and let’s start rolling!

Other than that, I like that they’ve committed to Wheeler at LT. Him and Tuerk will bring a nastiness to the line that was sorely lacking last year. Though they’re not deep, the front 7 seem as solid as I can ever remember. With the wealth of riches we have at Safety, I can see this being an extremely stout defense if the CB position gets resolved and we don’t have many significant injuries.

One last thing, Scott it would nice to see some coverage of the state of the special teams before the Hawaii game. That team was frankly terrible last year, made all the worse because LK did not kick FGs (and up through the dumb-ass, inconsistent 2 point conversions). With Heideri back, I’m willing to bet this is a big factor in changing some of the terrible red zone play-calling last year – but this is assuming the Heidari is back to his 2011 form.

See you on the other side Trojan fans. Fight on.

    • Aside from the fact that duel QB’s doesn’t work, this team CANNOT run the ball ( not that Kiffin cares about that anyway ). If you can’t run, you can’t win, this “decision” to go with 2 QB’s just quickens the pace for failure this season. And don’t be too quick to dismiss the other 3 early season games, Kiffin is known for making the ordinary win difficult.

      • “this team CANNOT run the ball”

The season has yet to start and you make this ridiculous comment. Your perception seems to be cloudy

Sit back and let things play out for a while before you start with the “Debbie Downer” BS

I get it, you dislike Kiffin, but how many different ways can you skin a cat?

You must be related to betomas….hahaha!

        • Hopefully, you will be right that the running game improves, but the 2nd scrimmage stats were horrible. I heard some detailed criticisms of Kiffin’s approach to the running attack: no sweeps, no draws, too narrow of OL spacing to create ideal creases for RBs, doesn’t attack all the gaps, doesn’t run the FB, doesn’t run to or around the TE side, doesn’t use a “series” strategy, and doesn’t adapt to what the defense is doing. It made me wonder if Kiffin understands the rushing game all that well.

As I write that, I think I must be stupid to write it. Surely, Kiffin must have studied “rushing game theory.” Not only that, he has Summers and Robinson and Helton with whom to collaborate. Still, after some of the predictable pass and run play calls last year, I wonder a little…

    • Kiffin is just foot-in-mouth with the press, and Scott likes to make dubious and critical extrapolations from that. Kiffin could so easily have said: “With all the injuries, and so many talented players locked in competition, it remains in flux who will be on the field a lot.” But no, he had to say “five second of thought.”

The only convincing extrapolation from many of Kiffin’s press comments is that he should hire a press coach. With the money he earns, why doesn’t he? Can’t he see that he has zero talent for this part of his job? He is either too arrogant, too frugal, or too uninsightful to know what’s good for him in this area.

    • …..and Demented Charlie is a stationary butt-dart target…..OUCH!!

      It’s FIGHT ON, idiot!

  2. ” I put about five seconds of thought into it.”

Kinda like everything else you do, eh Lanie ?

  3. Geez, here we go. Please Kiffen, you don’t have to show us your incompetence again this season. I agree with michigan trojan.

  4. I’ll never know what context this was said under, but that’s what Scotty Boy love to do. When does this “blog” get renamed into the USC Troll Board?

  5. Dumb Goatboy can hold a thought for 5 seconds, ya right … what a disaster this turd has been for USC
