A Rough Start For Offensive Line

USC.HAWAIISo what was the deal with the offensive line last night? Lane Kiffin said the left side struggled, which meant Max Tuerk and Chad Wheeler.

“We had a bunch of new guys at different positions,” offensive line coach Mike Summers said. “It was a learning experience. They threw the kitchen sink at them. (Marcus Martin) did some amazing things for a first-time starter.”

  1. So it could have been worse if Marcus Martin wasn’t doing some amazing things out there.

  2. One final thought– this was a grinder of a game where the Trojans had to travel for 5-hour and play in 90-degree heat with humidity. They weren’t prepared for that.

I will bet with a 1 1/2 week period for SC to figure out their mistakes that Washington State is in for a bitter surprise.

    • It’s been awhile since the Trojan’s gave someone a good a$$ whipping

      50-0…still sticks in my mind!

      • You’ve got to quit beating that dead horse. I mean nobody brings up the fact you dropped out of 3rd grade.

        • Wrong blog!….If you’re looking for support, Bucket has a drawer full of stale jockstraps

  3. Stolen from somebody else…but too funny not to re-post…

All roads lead to the head, coach, Lame Kitten. Deadspin said it best:
“And yet, in Lane Kiffin, they have found the perfect amalgam of
arrogant lowlife: deluded, snooty, overprivileged, completely
unqualified, transparently insincere, and destined for a bombastic
    personal downfall.
If it came out that Lane Kiffin had an
ex-girlfriend bound and thrown into the sea, would you doubt it for a
    second? Of course not . . .”
    fit UN torgan!

    • Thai, this season is GONNA BE GREAT!!!!
you trOXans shouldda NEVER come back!!!!
Thai, speaking of Rope a Dope, i am all punched out from yesterday!!! i was wailing on the trOXans like Clubber working over Balboa in Rocky III !!!!!
c’mon, i gotta lotta mo! a LOTTA mo!!!!!

      • On a serious tip…

Some of your posts were funny in the past.

But this talking to your other screen name and knowing so much about a team you supposedly hate…..it’s been just downright creepy.

        • 1) my posts are STILL funny

          2) why do you think i’m Thai?? there are similiarities, sure. we are both funny, charming and have a certain infectious joie de vivre….but that is due mostly to our Cadre training under the auspices of Master Yoda.

Thai is ALL MAN, believe me!!! but he is HIS OWN MAN!!!! i suppose it is scary for trOXans to have to come to grips with the fact us Bruins are so superior in every way, so it makes sense you would construct a myth that depicts one mutant super Bruin who is PRETENDING to be the Cadre.

          What ev.

          • Man, that Dementia is some nasty stuff. You are living in denial, gets some help!

Take a few months off, we need the break!

  4. It wasn’t just the left side of the line. #77 Kevin Graf got called for at least two false starts and was run past by a defender as if his feet were pegged to the ground. And he is supposed to be one of the best and most experienced linemen.

  5. It will be a long season and eventually will cost Kiffin his job if he keeps this no identity-style of offense up.

Offensive line will struggle when you try to get really fancy.

You’re playing against Hawaii. BEAT THE GUY IN FRONT OF YOU. You can only do that by running the f–ing ball with POWER.

Instead, they decided to get cute. 1st and goal from the 5 and a weakside run with no fullback was called and stuffed. 2nd and 5…Wittek almost sacked an throws ball away. 3rd and 5….Wittek pressured again and overthrows Telfer.

And they gave credit to Notre Dame last year for an “awesome goal line stand.” Yeah right…

    • pretty sure it was Counter, but Rainbow LB had great timing on that play. It would be interesting to see USC run a screen with a RB and not with no. 9…

      • I think it was a counter as well. You would think they would’ve called at least 1-2 HB dives with the FB in front — or even a student body play.

How many student body plays for the entire game? I might have counted only 3-4.
