Will Anyone Ever Wear No. 1 At USC?

With Josh Shaw given No. 6, Lane Kiffin was asked if he considered giving out No. 1 to anyone. The number suddenly became important when Kiffin was hired because he took it away from De’von Flournoy and Jawanza Starling and said it was special because it was worn by former All-American Mike Williams.

Kiffin said he had not thought about giving out No. 1 but was asked what would happen if Marqise Lee asked for it?

“He didn’t,” Kiffin said.

    • He’s always reading between the lines way too much from the press conferences.

I’ve said it tons of times, we would love to hear his observations what happened on the practice field, but it seems he usually skips that part and tries to think of the next question to irritate Kiffin.

      • Since Kiffin doesn’t say anything at press conferences reporters have to read between the lines to come up with material for articles.

        • Why not go off what you see with your OWN eyes rather than the canned responses?

If I see Silas Redd not in pads on the sideline, I think it’s safe to say he’s injured.

      • and because SUC banned reporters from the practice field, he’s not able to report that either. What do you want from a free blog, anyway?

        • I thought that was changed this season?

I was at summer camp and saw several beat writers on the far end of the field opposite of the Dedeaux field — but never Wolf until the end.

  1. If Lee wants it? With Kiffin you don’t ask for number one you earn it. Lee is a team guy and is humble enough to know he’s got a lot of work to do to be number 1.

  2. Oh I can’t wait for Jack Del Rio to take over this program next year . Then we can put all this silly nonsense to the side and concentrate on winning National Championships, not who’s going to wear a stupid #. Kiffin is a control freak and a “Dummy” .
