Kiffinism Of The Day

KIFFIN.MENU“We’re 1-0, which is really all that matters,” USC coach Lane Kiffin said this week.

Isn’t that an extremely low bar to judge a USC football program playing in its 125th year and one of the most storied programs in college history? Especially after playing Hawaii.

Quit with the sideshow BS, focus on what goes on between the goal posts. There’s already enough “Drama Queens” floating around.

Better yet, find a new job!

  • Stu Azole

Well, you can look at this two ways. First, yes, if you look at the history of SC football in total, yes, it’s a low bar. But if you exclude all those years they were cheating (and then punished by the NCAA for the same), it’s probably fair.

    • TrojanFan

      Dementia is some nasty stuff

      • John Derry

Cheating is usually what a low minded SEC or Bruined homer resorts to.

        • Stu Azole

which school has had major sanctions handed down every decade for as long as there have been sanctions? Who’s got the heaviest sanctions of all time? LOL! CHEAT ON!

          • CardinalnGold

Umm, that would be SMU. This is the USC blog that you’re trolling remember?

          • Trojan Hoarse

You must forgive this Azole…….he still drinks Lowenbrau……….

          • TrojanFan

            What a STUpid AZhole!

            Another bucket handle?

          • “lol”? No adult male types that. These bruin faithful are as good at trolling as they are in…uh… ya…

      • Yes CHEATING!!! What do you think the SANCTIONS were for, blowing bubble gum???

    • Tom Oday

I believe the Bush sanctions put USC and UCLA in a tie for major NCAA violations by their athletic teams (around sixth place).

  • Chad Parker

Wolfie is the definition of a “troll reporter”. He only looks to get a rise out of his readers. He has zero desire to have integrity. What happened to journalism in this country?

    • Trojan Hoarse

I agree… Scotties shock jock/Howard Stern/Jim Rome schtick is beyond tired…Wolf is the KING of yellow journalism….most the media have no integrity nowadays….they only have an agenda to increase viewership/readership, which can translate into more advertising revenue for them … I just visit this blog to read comments from my fellow Trojans, throw in a comment or two, or three… and to witness completely stupidity from some of the trolls…. 3……2….1…. Bucket?…. Thai-Mex?… my favorite stalker??…..

      • and yet you NEVER MISS A POST!!!!

        what brings you back???

the CADRE is here because the wolfman is the BEST beat writer in America!!!

        • Trojan Hoarse

And how would YOU know?…. It takes one to know one…..BEST beat writer in America?…. HA!… only read Wolf’s blog because he rarely uses words having over three syllables….. How about your beloved Jack Wang over at the UCLA blog?……How often do you even bother to comment on the blog of your own Alma Mater? I thought so…. they are sick of you, as well…..

          • me and Jack “Big Bang” Wang are llke brothers from another mother!!!!
they LOVE Chucker-Bucker over there!!! i don’t get over there as much as i want to, but dammit, i SWORE AN OATH to back up the wolfman over here and the worse the trOXans do the more they attack the wolfman!!! so i’m puttin’ in the OT, baby!!!!

          • Trojan Hoarse

Really?… that why your history/log of comments is private?

          • i follow NUNYA protocol, as per my Cadre training.

        • TrojanFamily

The “Cadre” is here because you post to a USC blog even while UCLA is playing. Your affiliation with UCLA is an tenuous as your grasp of college football

The other USC blogs either charge or require you to use your real name. You can’t have that.

      • Chad Parker

I am actually done with Wolfie and his pathetic ways. Last post for me. Not sure how The Daily News think Wolfie is popular when he is losing viewers, not gaining them.

        • Trojan Hoarse

I feel your pain, Chad…….hang in there, bro…. and Fight On!

        • Stu Azole

do viewers read the papers or watch tv? Wolfie drives tons of traffic to this site, including clowns like you who simply click to complain.

          • TrojanFan

Every time you open your mouth it reeks of 8===D…

        • marvgoux1

          Great news!

  • Trojan Hoarse

So enlighten us, Wolfie….. What is it that REALLY matters in football?….. a simplistic “Kiffinism” / answer, to be sure, but most of the coaches in college and the NFL would probably tell you (well, maybe not YOU, personally) the exact same thing……

  • WEB_Dupree

Are you now or have you ever been a Kiffinist?

  • another reality check for trOXans…..YOU CAN’T HANDLE THE TRUTH!!!

just wait till the losses start to pile up, i thought we were talking game 5 but now winning game 2 is in doubt!!!!

THEN the Dummies will sound more like CADRE!!!

but you Dummies have neither the class, nor the regal bearing that exemplifies a member of the Cadre…

    • Trojan Hoarse

Regal bearing……such as having multiple handles…. and getting laughed off of the Philadelphia Eagles blog?……I think I’ll pass on the regal bearing, thank you…..Do you want to know what sounds more like the CADRE?…..Shhhhhh… listen very closely….lean in… PULL MY FINGER!!!!……THAT is the sound of the CADRE…….

  • LamontRaymond

Well, Scott, if you can figure out how the Trojans could have been 2 – 0, or 3 – 0 after one game, you should absolutely be the head coach – or perhaps athletic director.

    • Cheap seats

  • Helen

Scottie: funny how you’ve always written how many wins Kiffin must get this year to be successful and keep his job, but the moment he says the won/loss record is most important (and actually agreeing with you!) you try and turn this on him. Sad… so very sad.

  • Golden Trojan

Undefeated, that’s a low bar for anybody!

  • Wayne Lusvardi

What Kiffen needs to do is what Pendergast has done with the defense —
mold the offense to the talent at hand. That would mean integrating Tre
Madden into a QB and changing the inexperienced offensive line into a
spread where the blocking angles are different. USC now has a boatload
of running backs and Marquis Lee is the equivalent of Oregon’s
De’Anthony Thomas. Kiffin is not flexible enough and is trying to put a
round ball into a square hole. If he is serious about “winning is
everything” then he needs to shift his offense to his talent. But it may
be too late for that. However, college football teams don’t usually
find their character or learn their roles and assignments until about
six games on the schedule. Put Kessler and Madden at QB, make your
offense more unpredictable, use Marquise Lee like DeAnthony Thomas, and
make the basis of the offensive attack Justin Davis, Silas Redd, Buck
Allen, and Ty Isaac. Football has changed even at the pro level. USC
does not need to abandon its traditional offense but it needs to tweak
it to go with its talent. Then like the defense, the offensive players
will be having fun and they’re off to the races.

  • timtrojan

The low bar is what Bucket grabs before Scotty and him play hide the sausage

    • TrojanFan

      TOO FUNNY!.

  • Cloud Shaman

Lance Kiffin makes 2 million per year, has a hot wife, daddy in the NFL and gets sideline seats, gets to coach great kids at a great school. Dream job. So what if doesn’t last forever.

  • B.Miller

Oh gees.. and what “bar” would you have put the USC Football program?
Winning is all that matters.. 1-0 is all that matters..
Keep winning, and the less we care about your stupid post!

  • John Derry

If you listen to Bill King in the morning (you can go to his site and get them as well) A caller asked about the Off line issues and asked if Kiffin was on his way to get fired this morning in the 2nd hour of the show. This was with Charles Arbuckle on the show.

They say once a QB is assigned it will help the O line since their style changes to the QB play. I thought of this as as self inflicted wound by Kiffin if it holds true.

Neither one of them touched the Kiffin being a fired coach walking. Usually these host will defend a coach if he’s doing his job. I think that the fact neither did only shows that either approves of Kiffin.

  • Beto Torrealba

Even if the Trojans lost all remaining games this season, I would maintain Kiffin is better at his job than Scott Wolf is at his… “Kiffinisms”… brought to you by the guy who brought us “Caesar,” “Caesarhawks,” “The Baby QB” and probably several other descriptions only HE thought was anything other than childish. How’d USC give this guy a degree without teaching him grammar? How does a sports editor at a metropolitan newspaper allow it?

    • Trojan Hoarse

IMO, it’s because Wolf is the Howard Cosell of blogging….he is a polarizing figure…..most of us either detest him, or love him (see Cadre)….But, as our resident Azole has correctly stated below, Wolfie really does drive a lot of traffic to this site and this sells advertising space to banks/cars/internet, etc..his penchant for creating meaningless nicknames is well documented, and is mimicked by his most ardent followers…. The Cadre……….

      • sureshot32

You know what really drives traffic to Scooter’s site? The fact that the OCR now requires subscription to read or post on their site. OCR and Michael Lev (no longer writes about USC) used to be my choice for news. Now we’re all stuck with Wolf.

        • Trojan Hoarse

You are 100% correct about that, SS32….. limited options can create an artificial demand for inferior products, such as this blog…….OCR was definitely a nice read……Reign of Troy is also ok…. Bleacher Report is unreadable…it’s almost like a breeding ground for the next Wolf….their cub reporters are clueless and they seem to have taken a page from Scottie’s book on Kiffin bashing….We Are SC is hit and miss…..USC Rips it blog is great for a broader view of USC athletics……

        • marvgoux1

That explains the influx of rah rahs.

          • Trojan Hoarse

            And the outflux of haters…..

  • Good to see Kiffin is the stuff of Scotty’s nightmares, all he does is talk about him in anyway possible. Wolf could be doing a story about weather and some how blame Lane for it. I imagine he has his bedroom covered with pictures of Lane, while cutting out his picture for his personal scrapbook.

While Scotty Boy is trying to get under Kiffin’s skin, it’s really the other way around.
