Lane Kiffin On Max Browne

Some of you want to know why freshman quarterback Max Browne is not given a chance to play? Here is Lane Kiffin’s answer.

“I didn’t know they were screaming (for Browne),” he said. “Max has a great future. Ideally, we would like to redshirt him.”BROWNE.2

As I stated on 8-14-13, Lane’s “officially excluding” Brownie from the QB competiton was premature and potentially a mistake. It served no real purpose other than tainting Brownie’s confidence, and as I also said at the time, it’s not like Bob Waterfield and Norm Van Broklin were fighting it out for the starting spot!

I hear you but…I doubt it would be in the kids best interest to be thrown into the frey and set his cardinal colored shirt on fire. I believe it would be best for him to QB the team with a reasonable coach. Hopefully that will be next season…if not sooner.

Violet, did you wear a leather helmet back in the day?

Plus, have you ever been tested for Dementia?

      • Cheap seats

Bucket doesn’t have the “helmet”…he’s not circumcised according to Scott.

A Norm van Brocklin reference. I think I am in love!

Everyone wants to blame the QB’s but in actuality.. you could have put the best QB in that offensive scheme and the same thing would happen. The game plan and offense scheme for this game was horrific. The O-Line was terrible on pass plays, and the QB/WR timing is off (because Kiffin didnt want to pick a QB)

Im nervous about throwing Browne in and losing his RS but at this point maybe it’s worth a try to see what this gawky kid can do.

    • steveg

It may be fun to see what he can do but starting a freshman is a big gamble. It screwed up Barkley. It didn’t seem to bother Manziel tho. So why waste him on a season under this coach, who can’t even coach when his own butt is on the line.

      • gotroy22

You are right he might blow up like Johnny Football. What do we have to lose now?

      • Independent_George

Manzel was a redshirt, though i could be wrong.

Anyway, Why worry about Browne’s redshirt. First, lioke Browne is going to play thorugh the 2018 season. Please, if he is any good he bolts after the 2016 season, whether or not he starts two or three years. Maybe he gets advised to say an extra year, so he plays his academic senior or redshirt junior year in 2017. After seeing Kiffin cost Barkley at least two million dollars, he will leave once is he thinks he will be at least a second round draft choice.

    • gotroy22

Since the season is already over use it like exhibition games so Browne will be ready next year. He couldn’t do any worse than Heckle and Jeckle at QB. 7 points at home against WSU on a 20 yard drive is unacceptable.

…why do people always write about pat haden drinking scotch and whisky? (ex. his nose is always red from to much scotch, etc.). Is this just slander or does he really have a drinking problem? It’s kind of annoying.

    • sureshot32

Scotch and whisky? Doubling up? Like, adding Scotch to your Bourbon?

It’s doubtful Haden has a drinking problem. Although if he lets Kiffin coach till the end of the season, it might confirm it.

      • USConqueror1

No I meant that people write that Haden is always getting drunk on either scotch or other types of whisky. If I were Haden I would have been pounding whatever alcohol was around me. I know I drank more last night than I planned to after watching this game.

Kiffin is playing for his job this season. He knows that. I’m sure if Browne were any better than the two we have now, he’d be playing. It all comes down to playcalling. These guys will never develop or gain confidence by throwing 3 yds behind the line of scrimmage on every play. The best pass play we have had so far was an audible from Kessler. The ball was thrown into the endzone for Agholor and the ball was thrown perfectly.

    THREE 5 STAR QB’s….,
TOP 10 recruiting classes the last 5 years,
and Goat Boy is 2-6 over his last 8 games?
    5 & 8 might be LOFTY…….
    fit UN torgans!

  • FreeShabazz

It’s pretty obvious. Neuheisal predicted Browne would be the starter days before the Kifster took Browne out of the race. Thank god for country club kiffy’s ego!!! Browne is probably twice the QB than the other 5 star pre-Madonna burnouts.

    • steveg

Listen to Neuheisal? Intelligent. And you say I make stupid remarks. sheeesh!!

      • gotroy22

Even a stopped clock is right twice a day. And what do we have to lose now that the season is over? Let’s take our lumps now and prepare Browne for 2014.

  • FireKiffin

Don’t waste his redshirt playing for Darth Goats**t. Save it for the next coach.

  • steveg

    You actually listen to Neuheisal?

    • gotroy22

Or transfer. Play him now before he sours.

  • Fred Sampson

LMAO !!! This is so funny because Rick Neuheisal wanted to redshirt Brent Hudley which he did, and UCLA was so bad that Neuheisal got fired !! Now Lane Kiffin wants to do the same with Max Brown and the results will be the same…how ironic is that ? Thanks Kiffin for saving Max Brown for Jack Del Rio or who ever the next Coach may be next season….Dummy !!!!

  • B.Miller

Redshirt him for the new coach.. good idea!
