Cody Kessler said winning the quarterback job will allow him to play more relaxed.
“The first two weeks, I’d be lying if I didn’t say it’s tough to focus on the game when you’re competing for a spot,” Kessler said. “It’s a newfound confidence (now). I’m not saying it as an excuse. But you get more excited and more control of the team.”
I believe it.
What is in the head has a great affect on the body.
So Kessler will come into the game knowing he is the man, and if he has a bad quarter or bad half, he knows he can make it up later.
SC looks to have a very good defense and a good running attack. If Kessler can only bring an average level of quarterback play, watch out Stanford, ASU and SUCLA.

Unfortunately, Kessler said the same thing right before the WSU game.
Kessler’s not doing squat unless Kiffin grows a pair and calls a man’s game. If Kiffin thinks he’s protecting his quarterbacks by calling such a conservative game plan, he’s got another thing coming to him. In fact, Kiffin should do the opposite – go hurry up with lots of deep plays early. Let the kid make mistakes. So what if he throws a pick or two… couldn’t be worse than calling 52 straight quick outs/slants, resulting in the CB jumping the route and taking it to the house right? At least an INT 40 yards downfield serves as a punt of sorts.
