Lane Kiffin Says One Thing, Marqise Lee, Max Wittek Say Another

If today was going to show everyone at USC is on the same page following the disastrous loss to Washington State, think again.

Lane Kiffin said Sunday night there was no players-only meeting. Marqise Lee contradicted Kiffin today after practice.

“Kiffin dont know,” Lee said.

Lee said he spoke along with linebacker Hayes Pullard and defensive end Devon Kennard.

And you might remember Kiffin saying he spent “more time” with Max Wittek to inform him of the quarterback decision to make sure he was “ready to go.”

Wittek said their meeting was “real brief.”

    • I doubt Haden has the overall authority to fire the Goat. I’m not sure when Kiffy’s contract expires, but if he’s fired now SUC’s will probably have to honor any money Kiffy is contractually due. Therefore I think Haden would need to convince a University committee Kiffy needs to go.

      • Pretty funny stuff…..”Haden would need to convince a university committee Kiffy needs to go”……..
        fit UN torgans!

        • Not much convincing needed.. Its obvious.. they are probably trying to convince Haden to fire Kiffin..

  1. Kiffin is here to stay for the duration of the season, so try handling it. Wolf can have 1000 anti-Kiffin posts and it will have the same effect as two flies on a Rhino’s back.

Still, as I’ve said before, the guy has an introverted personality in an extroverted profession (football).

It’s funny how Tennessee almost rioted when he left town early. They must have seen some potential greatness in him.

So possibly the jury is still out on ol’ Kiff.

We shall see– and very soon.

  2. “Kiffin dont know,” Lee said.

Wow. This quote is very telling…sounds like Lane has lost the team. Mutiny on the Bounty.

    • With all that booing, with Kiffin’s insularity and inflexibility, with the very public criticism of strategy and plays by ex-players, media, and ex-coaches, how could the players not be filled with doubt, and feel bad about themselves?

This is the factor that makes a turnaround under Kiffin very unlikely.

Haden ought to at least force Kiffin out of play calling, and force some experimentation with a different process. There is no downside to that. Kiffin’s certainly not going to initiate it, and the team’s not behind Kiffin.

  3. Scottie: I guess if it was a players-only meeting then Kiffin wasn’t there and might not know anything about it.

I am very encourage the players got this meeting together.

  4. I have to agree with those who suggest Lane has it coming from the way he treated Scott last year. I suppose it’s human nature to rub it in the face of someone who went after you in the past. It happens everywhere, even on the Bunco circuit.
Today my Bunco girls and I watched Lane’s press conference from after WASH STATE and he looked like a nice young man who was over his head. I am still hoping he can pull it together, but I am having a lot of doubt.

    • You have to ask why did Kiffin treat only Scottie that way? It was for 3 years of trash talking using the Daily News as a vehicle – so you could say Scottie had it coming.

        • The Wolf only began trashing Pete when he brought in the boy blunders … Goat Kiffin and Suckisian to try and run the offense. We saw then what a joke that was and we are still seeing it today. Pete needed bashed for such a stupid decision. Those guys are frauds.

      • Wolf has the same right to express his opinions as you have to express your half-baked opinions. It’s called freedom of speech.

      • By “trash talking” you mean reporting the truth. You rah rahs have it coming now for supporting this incompetent producrt of nepotism.

    • Kessler and Wittek had the same look as their coach…nice young men who were in over their heads. Too bad, these kids deserve better.

    • Bunco!…is that where you tell bucket you’re going, but the truth is you’re out riding the bologna pony. I don’t blame you, being hung like a pimple is boring

  5. What a mess. I know it is unlikely that Haden will fire Kiffin before seasons end but he should at least put him in the booth and give the playcalling to someone else

  6. There’s the name for your book about the last 4 years of the decline of SC’s football program,Scott: “Kiffin don’t know”.

  7. I think the entire quote from Lee was ““Kiffin don’t know nothing about it.” referring to the meeting.

Scottie: looks like you could have a job at NBC since you’re so good at splicing quotes to fit your agenda.

  8. Anybody see the movie “Euro Trip”, in which Matt Damon sings this song called “Scotty Doesn’t Know”? I’m hearing that song in my head right now except it’s…

    Kiffin doesn’t know! / Don’t tell Kiffin! / Kiffin doesn’t know!
