Did You Know The Term `Moron’ Was Invented By USC Coach?

No, it wasn’t Lane Kiffin. USC’s first football coach, Henry Goddard, USC’s first football coach, was a prime force in the development and application of intelligence testing. His work led to him coining the term “moron” from the Greek for “dull” for individuals with an IQ of 51-70.

There was excellent story on Goddard and USC’s first football team in the game program sold at last weekend’s game by USC football historian Mike Glenn, which included the moron anecdote.

Now feel free to make your own joke on the subject.

  1. WHO CARES!
    Is this a way for you to call Lame kiffin a moron without directly coming out and saying it? Grow some balls, you dog the man out about everything, If you want to call him a Moron then come out and say it.. don’t be scared..

  2. Henry Goddard, USC head coach 1888 was a perfect 2-0.

    moron = IQ 51-70
    imbecile = 26-50
    idiot = 0-25
    terms gradually replaced with more politically correct terms, not till 2007 in the Calif penal code.
    The question is where do we rank Bucket, Thia and the rest of the usual crowd here?
