USC-Boston College Report Card

RESULT: USC 35, Boston College 7

RECORD: 2-1, 0-1

TEAM GPA: 2.9

QUARTERBACK

Cody Kessler completed 15 straight passes. Too bad this game plan didn’t exist vs. Washington State.

A-

RUNNING BACKS

At this point does it matter if Silas Redd returns this season?

B+

WIDE RECEIVERS

The tight end position was discovered by Lane Kiffin but the receivers still are not getting enough passes..

C

OFFENSIVE LINE

Best performance of the season also happened to come against worst opponent of season.

B-

DEFENSIVE LINE

Hurried BC quarterback Chase Rettig but also had two personal fouls and only one sack.

C+

LINEBACKERS

Seems like Lamar Dawson was awfully quiet this game with one tackle.

B+

DEFENSIVE BACKS

Funny how Josh Shaw to cornerback questions were shot down in training camp but move made in Game 2.

B+

SPECIAL TEAMS

No missed field goals this week. No field-goal attempts this week.

B

COACHING

It’s easy to win when you pull your head out (of your play chart).

  1. LOL@ the Defensive line and coaching grades! I think Wolf only looked at the stat sheet and wasn’t watching the game.

The Dline was in the backfield ALL GAME LONG. Sacks don’t always tell the whole story.

Kiffin doesn’t even get a B- for that game??

On another note, if the offensive line was graded on PASS protection alone, they deserve a ‘D’ or lower. A couple holding calls also called back some big plays.

    • “Kiffin doesn’t even get a B- for that game??”

I’m sure it killed him to go as high as a C

      • Did you come to the game last week? D-line didn’t pressure…only time there was pressure was when southern cal rushed 7.

        • You can’t have your beer goggles on when you are watching a USC game. It fucs with your perception

  2. Come on Wolfie, SUCsters apparently want you to grade on a curve. “We were better than last week, that must be worth an A”!

  3. Wolf, sacks are going to be coming from all over the place, not just the DL. This is the best defensive scheme we have see in years, don’t let your emotions control your reporting.
We still have a long way to go, it does matter that Redd gets back in the game. The receivers will get more passes, but so will the backs. That’s a way to open the game up.

  4. “Funny how Josh Shaw to cornerback questions were shot down in training camp but move made in Game 2.”

Yeah, I don’t suppose it had anything to do with both starting CBs being injured the game before and there being a need for bodies at the position…
