Quick Thought On NCAA Decision

USC asked for a speedy decision to its request for scholarship relief, but this was an amazingly quick reaction from the NCAA by its own standards.
Maybe it thought it did USC a favor by responding promptly. At the same time, the response almost seems insensitive because of the immediate denial.

    • Hey, how can I join the Cadre?

I am a USC alumni (sorry, I was young and from the midwest and seduced by those argyle sweaters on the Song Girls) and while I am not a chest-beating USC Cardinal and Gold member (all my alumni attention/connections go to my graduate school, not USC) I have followed and supported USC athletics. But no more.

This spate of rage and tantrum throwing against the football team, the USC administration, and at Haden in particular (Kiffin deserves all the scorn he gets) is disgusting. Pat Haden has done more for USC than 100% of the commenters on this blog and at the other fan blogs have done and will do in their lifetimes. There are reasons to criticise Haden, but the level of bile is surprising.

Well, maybe not. UCLA fans have said for years that once USC starts losing, the fans will show that once the University of Spoiled Children, always the University of Spolied Children. Yep, the tantrums are epic. This B.S. “Trojan Family” is more like the Manson Family.

Actually the Mason Family might be an improvement. Better drugs at the very least.

Plus being part of the Cadre looks like fun. USC fans are stupid and easily trolled.

      • Georgie, there is iron in your words for all Cadre to see!!

money quote: “This B.S. ‘Trojan Family’ is more like the Manson Family.”

the Cadre has been home to other disgruntled trOXans in the past, i think the last was WEB (he was ultimately thrown out) but we welcome independent thinkers from all walks of life!

we offer free parking, Preferred Plus Night on Wednesdays and for the kids we have school outreach programs (the Lil’ Cadre). virtually the only rule is don’t take yourself too seriously!! (one reason we have so few trOXans).

        welcome aboard!!!

        • “Free parking”…….more like free HANDICAPPED parking……just like the UCLA football team a few years back…….Plus size girls are the only size girls that members of the Cadre attract…..

          • i love the Preferred Plus gals like a SISTER!! but they do have some hypoglycemia issues. last week they demolished all the tater tots before any of the Cadre could even get to them. oh man, was Yoda PI$$ED!!!!

          • Preferred Plus gals ARE your sister!!!

BTW….serve the sweet potato tater tots next time………they are supposed to be better for you……Yoda needs to watch his cholesterol intake anyway….

        • The Rev. W.E.B. Dupree infiltrated his way all the way up to the rank of “Padre of the Cadre” in a reverse-troll hoax, but I’d say that “Westwood Rob” was an even more successful reverse troll — you guys are still using his nonsensical “troxan” insult.

  1. It’s a mistake to think of SC’s recent begging as some sort of “appeal”. SC appealed previously and lost. There was nothing formal for the NCAA to consider here – SC’s day came and passed a long time ago – hence the immediate “no”. This was just a pathetic attempt to piggy-back on Penn State’s recent actions. Lane must have been leading the charge! Harhar!

    • Stu HATES USC…….we get it….but he loves to remind us, every chance he gets……everyday, every post…

    • Haden’s meeting was scheduled before the Penn St action. Shows Haden is trying to do what he can. You do make a good point that the NCAA thinks of Penn St as a criminal issue and not related to fairness in sports.

  2. “Insensitive”?……exactly how long should the NCAA have waited to give their response, Scottie?…..

    • At least a week would have given the appearance they actually considered our appeal. This was a slap to the face.

  3. Take a knee Bucket, I’ve got this one!

Brilliant comment Scott… good to see you are capable of journalistic insight – welcome back to reality.

  4. This reminds me of an inspiritational poster where Jesus is walking along the beach carrying a guy, and the guy looks back and says how come I only see your footprints? And Jesus says because I’m carrying you, duh! Only the DEFENSE can carry this team now! The NCA wouln’t listen to Haden because he didn’t show up with bags of money and free stuff!

  5. I thought the whole thing–from the beginning–was like killing a flea with a sledge hammer. I have no love for SC, but fair is fair. The NCAA has its head up its a##.

  6. The speed of the NCAA’s announcement indicates that it never was going to provide USC any relief, but that the NCAA representatives didn’t want to say “no” in person to Haden and Roberts.

  7. Haden got on his knees, opened wide and they told him to F off. Now it’s back to ” we suck because of the sanctions. I tried, I really tried, but the NCAA just won’t be nice.”

PS: Thanks to the other PAC 12 schools and that POS Larry Scott for all their help in this matter, think the BIG 10 or SEC would tolerate this shat from the NCAA?

    • We know UW is still bitter over their sanctions in the 90s and wouldn’t lift a finger to help us.

  8. It’s time for the big conferences – the eventual “Big 4” conference with the 64 major teams – to bolt from the NCAA and form their own organization.

  9. It was very douchey. But it does not want to re-open the USC case, because otherwise it would repudiate the entire enforcement process, which is under siege because of the Miami case. The enforcement process is essentialy its raison d’etre. Without it adjudicating rules the rules it promulgates itself, there really ins’t any reason for the NCAA to exist.

  10. Actually the NCAA is like bad government, our socialist friend in the White House. What is the NCAA going to do with Miami? Oklahoma State? The entire SEC pays their players. It is a comical farce. They are irrelevant and should be dismantled and sent home. Fat pieces of crap like Paul
    Dee. What a total mess.

  11. Did the NCAA punish SuC under Cheaty Petey each time a player was arrested for rape, date rape, assault, drugs, “clear” distribution, etc? That is why the cases are different!
Or, the highlight of the Pete Carroll era was Snoop Dogg being released after an arrest in a Duane Jarrett jersey?
