  4. Had to ask and my sources say that Orgeron will most likely be gone to another team by the end of this season in an HC position. I know some lames have said that he should become the USC HC for years to come, but it ain’t gonna happen.

  10. I think all we need is a head coach who can be a leader and run the team. Bring in a qualified OC and keep the assistants we have now. Hate to lose Pendergast through this.

Let’s worry about this until after the season is over, shall we?….almost all of the viable head coaching candidates are already employed, especially those in college..Hey, I want the best possible coach as much as the next USC fan (including sunshine pumping, rah-rahs), but do we want to be one of those programs that poach a coach DURING the season?…. is that who we are?…..we still have 8 games left to play, so let’s make the best of what have….this story is going to be a huge distraction, thanks to the media doing the “job” and the seniors on this team don’t deserve this…..

    • Wouldn’t it be LESS of a distraction if the hire was made as soon as possible?

      Let the new HC get a jumpstart on recruiting and his staff as well?

      • I suppose, but I think that most of the best existing college head coaches, who are currently employed, would not want to compromise their integrity that way (unless your name is Nick Saban or Bobby Petrino)……I struggled with the recruiting angle, too, but LOI day is not until early next year and most of these young recruits nowadays seem to flip-flop anyway…..If we could somehow pry away Kevin Sumlin from Texas A & M, that would be great at many levels…..

        • Cowherd this morning put Sumlin on his top 5 list.

          He was the only one who mentioned Wisenhunt. Intriguing….I would think Haden will want more of a diplomat-type this time around vs. an X’s and O’s guy.

          Then again, I don’t know much about Wisenhunt.

          • Yeah, I heard the same thing….not to open a hornets nest, but the one subject that hasn’t been discussed, to the best of my knowledge, is diversity in hiring…..The only African-American head coach in the Pac-12 is David Shaw…. Has USC football ever had an African-American head coach?

          • Not that I know of. The only one one I can think of as a candidate with USC ties is Hue Jackson.

            I thought Hue did a fairly good job with Oakland and would bring a physical style of ball, but there are much better coaches who would take the job in a heart beat.

          • Many of the top candidates are African-American – Hue Jackson, James Franklin, Charlie Strong. Besides, Haden has said that the new coach need not have USC ties.

          • Yes, a few more candidates are now being mentioned, including Kevin Sumlin…….I guess different lists have different top candidates…..irrespective of race, I just want to see the best possible candidate fill the position……we shall see…. Fight on!

          • I agree. Someone who can restire order. Maybe Coach O will be able to turn the team around. Henry Bibby made a suggestion on another thread – Tony Dungy. That would be a definite game changer. Fight On!

    • Mora’s staff will start becoming big targets like Carroll’s assistants. Especially Mazzone with what he’s done with the offense. I could even see him being picked up in the NFL and Mora endorsing him.
