Lane Kiffin Calls Cody Kessler

Former USC coach Lane Kiffin spoke on the phone to quarterback Cody Kessler since being fired.

“He called me and said he was proud of me,” Kessler said. “I said thank you for giving me the opportunity. He said I became a big-time quarterback in that (Arizona State) game.”

Lane…trying to score brownie pts with the team. Pathetic.

      …and you are?

I have commented extensively about Kiffin’s shortcomings, and I have zero objection to his being fired mid-season.

However, I can’t see any reason to conclude that Kiffin was was trying to curry favor with the team. He was recognizing growth in a young QB, a position that Kiffin played in college. There is no need to run Kiffin down–it was time for change, and Haden acted. Kiffin a person, too, and I’m sure he’s hurting. Enough.

Moronic! Stick to cleaning the shitters, we all respect a clean restroom!

      Yum, brownies!

I am glad for both of them. Lane hasn’t yet had a chance to say good-bye to the team. Hopefully, if he wants to do it, there will be an opportunity soon. It is always painful when a coach is fired, even when it has to happen. They put all of their energy and soul into the job and it is a big hit when you lose your job. At least this way, Lane can take some time to decompress and be ready to look for a new job when other positions become available in December. Cody is a good quarterback and is getting better each week.

Haha, big time? I guess if you mean in the “barfly pick 6” sorta way…

I think Kiffin has his strengths and it is obvious that he has some people skills otherwise recruits like Kessler may not have signed. Cookie, anyone?

I won’t be surprised if Kiffin calls Davis, too. He must have been thrilled for that budding freshman star. He played so great!

I agree. Davis had a huge game! Madden did too for that matter. Kessler needs to learn to see the entire field better (and faster). He showed flashes though.

I don’t think Lane Kiffin gets it, I bet if he got another opportunity tomorrow he would do everything exactly the same. If I were Pat Haden I would tell Kiffin not to make any contact with the Players , if the players want to contact him that’s their business, but I bet there wouldn’t be a lot of them.

Too bad he is just NOT a leader of men..
