Ed Orgeron Hires Defensive Line Coach Pete Jenkins

Pete Jenkins, a long-time SEC defensive line coach who also worked for the Philadelphia Eagles, has been hired by USC coach Ed Orgeron, according to coachingsearch.com. Details here
The move shows Orgeron thinks he needs to be more of a head coach than a position coach. Interesting move.

Ed for President! Or at least HC forever!

Hey Stu, in all seriousness, who do i talk to about acquiring one of those handicap passes? The walk from the parking lot is just too much to bear!

      • Trojan Hoarse

That’s why I like to “carpool” with Stew whenever I go Christmas shopping during the holiday season…. he always gets the BEST parking spots………

        • Joe Blow

If you need a hooker, call Papa Sam or Woodie. Oh wait, Nellie Belle is gone too.

      • Stu Azole

LOL. Still living in the 90s? What is it with you trogies that keeps you from living in the present? Oh, wait, it’s that cr@p athletic program, isn’t it?

    Very interesting.

  • Trojan Hoarse

Hopefully, this move will have positive implications with regard to recruiting in the talent rich South, if he and Orgeron are able to hang around a while…….

    • ThaiMex

“if he and Orgeron are able to hang around for a while”………”HE”…as in Pete Jenkins is 72 YEARS OLD, and you’re hoping he hangs around a while? He was coaching back when John McKay and Bear Bryant were head coaches. “Pete” is only 3-4 years YOUNGER than LOU (Granny) Holtz! WTF is wrong with you people? EVERY ONE of you knuckleheads also thought GOAT BOY was a GREAT hire.
Somebody has to finish last in the division…it might a well be SCUm!
      fit UN Torgans!

      • Trojan Hoarse

So what will YOU be doing at the age of 72, Taco Mix?….let me guess… you’ll be almost 10 years into collecting your “entitlements”, if the government doesn’t spend it first……perhaps, Jenkins HAS to work, given the current state of our country’s economy and health care system…I doubt that, though….or maybe he is just a darn good coach who has more gas left in his tank and is willing, unlike freeloaders such as you…..

  • CardinalnGold

    I love this move!

  • Saul Goodman

If Orgeron can pull of 6-2 he’s definately the guy for the job. Even 5-3 with wins over UCLA/Notre Dame makes a very strong case for himself.

    • Joe Blow

Not really. But I hope he does it. BTW, if he went 8-0 he wouldn’t get the job.

      • Independent_George

        You are right about that.

      • steveg

It would be interesting to hear you explain why?

  • I see what your getting at wolfman, this is a slap in the face to Clancy Pendergasp…..the Agin’ Cajun is trying to discredit him for consideration for perm HC job.

You don’t miss a thing wolfman!!!

    • TrojanFan

Man crush!……..get a room, after 3:00 am rates are half price

Interesting move by Coach Orgeron. I was afraid he was going to fall into the same trap as Kiffin and try and handle two positions. Sounds like Pete Jenkins has good credentials, but it begs the question – what happens if USC hires a permanent head coach and then has two defensive line coaches?

    • Joe Blow

      Goodbye Pete.

    • G L

Presumably, any new coach is going to bring in most of his own staff anyway.

  • Henry Bibby

How does a website have this information before the beat writer for the team? Quick Thought: do your job Wolfie and cover the current USC Football team and current USC Football Head Coach. Stop covering 2015 recruits that have zero impact with the 2013 USC Football team, and stop covering former USC Football Head Coaches. Your personal agenda regarding the former Head Coach, current Head Coach and any future Head Coach is blinding you. This is the kind of important info on the current team we desire. Pathetic that you are quoting a website instead of the other way around.

    • Stu Azole

aw, Henry, you need to relax a bit there bud. It’s a blog. Wolfie is ON HIS GAME, and you’re getting this stuff for free!

      • Trojan Hoarse

And you accuse US of living in the past?…. your “hero”, Scottie, lives in the past everyday on this blog…….and you are 100% correct… this stuff is free, so it’s worth exactly what we’re paying for it…….

    • B.Miller

And stop writing about James Franklin

  • patricia Olforo

Hilarious comments! some of these USC fans are simply hilarious!!! and coach Orgeron is on desperation mode trying to impress the brass by hiring some guy that’s been out of a job for years. Does he really think he has a chance to land the HC job? not only is it impossible for the guy to put a sentence together, you can’t even understand anything when he does put one together!!! ahahahahaha

    • Trojan Hoarse

patricia obviously is in desperate need of a “group therapy” session with the Cadre…..Be sure to wear Chanel #5……. the boyz in the Cadre really like that scent…..it reminds them of their mothers…

      • T-hose, you may have noticed your wife has been wearing a new perfume lately…..fyi it’s called “Charlie”. and that’s all i have to say about that!!

        • TrojanFan

Still no results on the cranium exam?

Fuc it, just pull the trigger! We need something to cheer about

        • Trojan Hoarse

#1 – I’m not married, but nice try.

          #2 – Isn’t “Charlie” a woman’s perfume?… That’s available at CVS???…and that’s all I have to say about THAT!!

          • Charlie IS a women’s perfume, and you’re probably too young but the old advertising jingle ended with chorus shouting “CHAR-LIE!!”

it was sugary sweeeet lemme tell you.

          • Trojan Hoarse

Yes, I know what it is (“Kinda young, kinda now, Charlie, Kinda hip, kinda wow, Char-lie!”), but why on Earth would YOU be wearing it?…..

  • steveg

Orgeron is actually acting like a real HC. It’s been a while since we have had one. Now we have a full complement of coaches, not really that interesting. It’s obviously not a long term contract.

    • Ben Factor

Well observed comment. This makes more sense to me than Tedford

  • The Capper

This is a really good move by Coach O.

  • SaferInWestwood

    0 – 2!!!!
