My Take On USC-Miami Cases

Here’s my column on how the NCAA let Miami off the hook and continues to thrust USC back into the spotlight with its easy treatment on every case since then. Column here

“Maybe the NCAA wanted to protect former Miami athletic director Paul Dee’s legacy. Dee, who died in 2012, famously presided over the NCAA committee on infractions that determined USC’s harsh penalties.

“Every time the NCAA lets Ohio State, Oregon, Penn State, Miami, etc., off the hook, it also puts USC athletic director Pat Haden back in an uncomfortable spotlight.”

  1. Pat’s uncomfortableness is a result of playing the political correct game. Sue the NCAA..its that simple. There are many avenues USC can take on this issue. Instead Pat has taken the high road and the university takes these embarrassing hits because he does nothing. He flys to NCAA and pleads for relief. They say No. So he does nothing. He whines on a twitter message and does nothing ! Sue them! Just the public court approach will send the NCAA into a tailspin.

  2. Pat Haden doesn’t handle legal action for USC. Go after someone who does. Miami’s was done by President Donna Shenanigan. PSU’s by the State of PA. And OU’s probably by the influence of Phil Knight. OSU’s wasn’t that serious and the HC paid a heavy price.

  3. poor Dummies. when the NCAA tried to take out Shazaaam! we went after their investigators and the NCAA ended up apologizing and firing the investigator!!! UCLA takes CARE OF BIDNESS!

trOxans, just rolled over and presented their buttocks to the late great Dee-MAN!!!

    HAWR-HAWR!!

  4. I thought the sanctions meant nothing? Scotty and his trolls were screaming that sanctions were a Lane Kiffin excuse and shouldn’t be mentioned. Yet, the proof was right in front of their faces. The sanctions that USC received would kill any program. Lane Kiffin (28-15, .651) couldn’t have done any better considering the facts. But an idiot beat writer, that had a personal agenda, continued to blame Kiffin, not the sanctions. Now that Kiffin is gone, the play calling is still his fault, according to the same idiot beat writer.

  5. I’ve said it a million times – SC was punished for their lack of cooperation as much as anything else. Over-confident and defiant, the Troxans did this to themselves.

    • Have to agree with you. These other idiots don’t get it. Every school since SC has opened their doors, got on their knees, begged forgiveness and self punished. Haden played nice with the McNight affair and no penalties. Penn St got off because no athlete or coach received a competitive advantage by the grotesque things that went on. Get a clue people, the NCAA is not a court of law, being adversarial doesn’t get you anywhere!

      • Get a clue Golden it does not matter what the NCAA is. When you expose them legally they will follow through with correct response. The NCAA lives off the universities. not the other way around. A lawsuit would put them in the limelight they do not want. Especially when their illegal dealings come to the public. Why do you think they are trying to squash the McNair case in red tape ? When that case goes public the NCAA is in some serious huge trouble.

        • Expose them legally how? What exactly is SC suing for again? Remember, a lawsuit will also open SC up to a limelight I’m guessing they don’t want. It’s funny that you think the NCAA will be in “some serious huge trouble” – what exactly do you think is going to happen to them? Death by stoning? Jail? What?

  6. Funny thing is, even with all that is wrong at USC….Good Old Notre Dame is barely marginally better with a stable coach and full recruiting classes.

  7. I will second that SUCLA comment (a rational
dwarf-bear?) about Autzen Stadium, Eugene, Oregon producing some of the most rude (that I can take) and dangerous ( that i don’t like) fans.

I had a 20 year old come up to me, drunk as can be at 12:30 p.m., and say he wanted to beat me up for wearing my SC colors. Fortunately he had some girls (sober humans) around him who pulled him away from me

P.S. Lucky for him of course, because with my catlike moves I would have turned him into duck soup. (Maybe)
