One More Miami Fact

One other aspect of Miami case: The NCAA did not require the Hurricanes to vacate any victories. That was another part of USC sanctions

  1. I thought the sanctions meant nothing? Scotty and his trolls were screaming that sanctions were a Lane Kiffin excuse and shouldn’t be mentioned. Yet, the proof was right in front of their faces. The sanctions that USC received would kill any program. Lane Kiffin (28-15, .651) couldn’t have done any better considering the facts. But an idiot beat writer, that had a personal agenda, continued to blame Kiffin, not the sanctions. Now that Kiffin is gone, the play calling is still his fault, and the sanctions are “all of a sudden” harsh?

    • I’m surprised “idiot” made it through the Scottie filter. Most of my messages “go to the moderator for review” never to be seen again – sort of like a box of Krispy Kremes sitting next to Scottie’s sofa.

      • Someone that thinks 30 scholarship reductions is “an excuse” is an idiot. Plain and simple. If you add up all the scholarship reductions of Miami, Oregon & Ohio State combined, it’s only 20.

      • Tell me about it. I had a message with the word g@mble in it that was sucked into the moderator black hole.

      • You’re pretty funny. The moderator for review vacuum is especially frustrating. Glad to know it happens to others.

        • It’s safe to say there is no moderator, only a daemon running on the site that looks for key words and rejects the post. Otherwise 90% of the posts on this blog would be rejected.

      • Amen – no ‘ignore’ function for any of us but I do sure see an awful lot of the same bilge from the bel-airians no matter how egregious or foul the text – they always get their garbage posted here.

    • I’m not sure about ‘Lane Kiffin (28-15, .651) couldn’t have done any better considering the facts’. We should have definitely beat Wazzu this year; Ga Tech, Arizona last year and Notre Dame in year 1.

      • Did you watch the USC/Notre Dame game last weekend? That’s a game we “should” have won. But you can’t blame Lane Kiffin for that loss. Get real. It’s clear as daylight that the Trojans have depth issues and injury issues. This all stems from scholarship reductions.

        • I’m not blaming last week’s loss on Kiffin. I’m blaming the Mitch Mustain ND game loss on Kiffin.
As to the fact that we ‘should’ have won last week, yes we should have and the reason we didn’t was this coaching staff coached as bad as Kiffin did.
We did not lose the Wazzu game because of depth issues. We lost because Kiffin didn’t adjust when Wazzu dropped 8.
We did not lose to Arizona and Ga Tech last year because of depth issues. We lost because our offense was horrible in the 2nd half.
How can you use depth to explain the fact that we almost never scored in the 3rd Q in most of Kiffin’s games. That’s just a lack of adjustment and coaching.
We weren’t very well coached then and we weren’t very well coached last week.
I truly understand that scholarship reductions have had a debilitating effect on the team. But these losses weren’t because of depth issues.
We are a badly coached team and our O line recruits have been poor. I hope that’s real enough.

          • Yeah, keep blaming the coaches. Just like the Dodgers and the Lakers, blame the coach. Instead of blaming the obvious facts. If USC had 30 extra players to evaluate the last 3 years, we would be winning close games that we loss. Fact. Lane Kiffin had one hand tied behind his back and you expect him to coach with 2 hands. It’s not even possible, last week was proof. Lane was the goat, not the problem.

          • OK you need to read what I write before you formulate your response. I’m not blaming Kiffin for all the losses. Where did I say 30 scholarship reductions have 0 effect on wins and losses. Show me where I wrote that and I’ll call myself an idiot.

I blame Kiffin for the 4 losses I mentioned above. Just because the team lost last week’s game doesn’t mean that Kiffin was a good coach. It could also mean Orgeron is as bad a HC coach as Kiffin.

The scholarship reductions have truly hurt us and to make it worse made other teams stronger. But to absolve Kiffin of the blame is wrong. We had no business losing to Wazzu. If you truly think the Wazzu loss and the Ga. Tech loss was primarily because of depth issues then I don’t think you and I can see eye to eye on this topic.

Kiffin has been highly mistreated by the media and wrongly so. I think he truly cared about the kids in the program and I think he truly loves USC.

But that is separate from the fact that he was not a very good play-caller or HC. We scored 7 points against Wazzu. Are you kidding me. 7 points.

I was rooting for him to succeed here because that would have meant having a young top class coach at his ‘dream job’ creating another dynasty. Sometimes things don’t work out.

          • you didn’t even take all the guys you could have last year – how on earth can you blame anyone BUT the coaches for a lack of depth right now?

          • I’m no fan of brooklyn but Mattingly should have gone faster through ATL and deeper through STL – the last month (Sept) was all his just as the remarkable run of mid-June through mid-August was his as well.

Mattingly is a lot like Kiffin – very strong control of his temper and there is truly a lot to be said for that – i.e. no You Tubes to look at

          • Oh, and someone that thinks 30 scholarship reductions has zero effect on wins and losses is an idiot. Plain and simple. If you add up all the scholarship reductions of Miami, Oregon & Ohio State combined, it’s only 20.

  2. Time for USC to lead the top 64 football programs out from under the NCAA umbrella. Create the 4 super-conferences of 16 teams and share the money. Create very clear rules in this new organization, negotiate new TV deals, and pay the players a modest salary to lace-em up once a week.

    • Haha…People like that USC is down and would like to keep us that way. There is nobody in the PAC-12 who has spoken up for us, including the commish. Amongst the other 63 teams are teams that have been let off by the NCAA in spite of committing major violations, so they have no reason to feel aggrieved by NCAA. The PAC 11 doesn’t care about it’s cash-cow, so there’s no reason why the SEC or the BIG conferences will care.

The only reason it might even be considered is if universities want to pay only the revenue earning(Football) student-athletes. If this talk gains momentum, then NCAA will then sit with the AD’s and figure out a way to keep all universities within the ambit of the NCAA and pay all student athletes of all sports. This way the NCAA will be politically correct, keep the themselves relevant and retain power. Nobody wants to relinquish power and money. Definitely not the NCAA.

  3. greedy step dad= damn near the death penaly
drugs and prostitution as recruiting tool = wrist slap. i’m not a whiner, but damn, this aint right.

    • tim, tim, tim… it was “greedy step dad, lack of institutional control AND lack of cooperation with the NCAA” that did the troxans in. All SC had to do was cooperate with the NCAA, self-impose a few easy sanctions and this would have all gone away.

  4. the ncaa’s mission to make a significant impact on SC football has been accomplished…they are as corrupt and inept as …

    • I love it, Arturo. Yes, the agency responsible for all college athletics specifically sought out USC Football and spent years and years trying to hurt it. And it’s actually done it several times over the decades. For no reason.

Anyone who believes this is an idiot. No offense. LOL.

      • One thing’s for sure the NCAA never took so much as a sideways glance at u¢la’s demi-god jonnie wooden and his corrupt 10 years – heck they named a church in NYC after him to share with JFK “St. John The Divine”.

“Oh come let us adore him…”

      • And who is the NCAA? At the time, it was Paul Dee and some chick from Notre Dame. Oh yeah, they didn’t have some Agenda and the SC penalty was in line with other sanctions…..NOT

  5. all this crying about Miami today. What ever happened to “Our 75 are better than your 85”? Well? Silly, arrogant trojies never saw what the rest of us did – cheating brings pain. LOL.

  6. The NCAA is a racist organization. If you combine the lost scholarships of Oregon, Ohio State, Penn State and Miami, it totals 35. The color of the athletic directors from those schools: white. USC’s total lost scholarships is 30. The color of the athletic director: black. The NCAA was really pissed off that they didn’t receive cooperation from Mike Garrett. In their good-ole boy Southern eyes, Garrett was acting like an uppity (you know what) and their just isn’t any room for that kind of behavior. The NCAA should be ashamed of itself.

      • And the color of the agent hired by Reggie Bush: black. And the color of the money in the envelope for OJ Mayo: green. The color of the coach with the envelope: white. The color of Bruin fans: Green with envy (according to Garrett). I think you have really stumbled on to something here.
