Injury Report

USC WR Marqise Lee is questionable and wide receiver Nelson Agholor is possible. USC’s tight end situation is semi-dire with Kevin Greene and walks-ons Chris Willson and Shane Sullivan the possibilities.

    • Pretty dire situation on depth, but the silver lining is that some of our guys will get the chance of a lifetime. Years ago, UCLA looked in bad shape when Gary Beban was injured, but Norm Dow made the most of his opportunity and became a legend. Who knows what our reserves are capable of. At least now, they will have an opportunity to show everyone.

  1. semi-dire???……..we have no TE’s with any game experience……I hope they can at least block….

  2. At this point, you’re better off using some of the FBs and RBs at TE. Vainuku comes to mind. Maybe even some offensive tackles on jumbo packages.

    • Could you imagine Leonard Williams as a blocking back in short yardage situations?…..BAM!…..it would probably never happen……

      • I could, but not in Kiffin’s offense.

Helton is not really an OC — he was just someone looking over Kiffin’s shoulder and nodding.

We’re basically the same team as the first game. Just more injured, a bit more motivated, and someone else is calling plays from Kiffin’s playbook.

      • You are right. Years ago, I asked John Robinson about using Darrell Russell as a short-yardage running back like Refrigerator Perry. He said that Darrell had the athletic ability to do it, but he didn’t want to compromise his practice time from his defensive line responsibilities. With limited time to practice, the emphasis for the starters has to be on perfecting their primary duties.
