USC Morning Buzz

Michael Owen Baker/Daily News

Here is my analysis of the Trojans’ victory over Utah and what it means for the season.

“The offense scored one touchdown against Utah, just like against Notre Dame. The defense did a nice job but faced another team with an injured quarterback. The Trojans are surviving right now and that is not ideal with Oregon State, Stanford and UCLA remaining on the schedule.”

  1. This article was not an “analysis” of the game. ..it was opinion laden diatribe, as usual. ….to quote SUC… “yawn”….

    • Why don’t you take a course in Journalism and find out the difference between reporting and analysis? One includes the opinions of the writer, the other doesn’t.

      • Where is the analysis, Mensa Man?….Please. ….tell me. ….I’m willing to learn. …I’m waiting. ….

        • Dude, did you read the full story (linked)?
In a nutshell, it’s spelled out: inconsistency…in so many positions. Are you so filled with hate that you won’t even give Wolf credit for analyzing that?? Come on, man. Pull your head out.

At least marvgoux understands that Wolf is entitled to his professional opinion when providing his take and analysis on the team. Christ, its not that hard to understand!

          • 1. Why are YOU defending MG’s honor?…..Is he too weak?

            2. Simply stating “inconsistency” is NOT an analysis of the team’s poor performance..nor does that “spell it out”……that is just an observation that any idiot can make, including you….how about starting at WHY they are being inconsistent?…

If you’re happy with Wolf’s nutshell “analysis”, then more power to you….how even a basic interpretation of the box score showing what that may reveal about the teams tendencies/strengths/weaknesses?…..or would that require too much of an effort?……..

          • I have yet to hear one positive thing come out of this guy’s mouth regarding USC football. Even a turd has same some value, ask a fly!

      • To perform analysis the writer must have subject expertise, and Scottie knows absolutely nothing about football. TH is right – these are just inconsistent opinions that are meant to stir up trouble.

I wonder if Scottie has a financial bonus incentive based on the number of blog comments?

  2. With all your blathering of players being “forced” to play, why not give them, and the inexperienced walk on’s, some credit for stepping up?….oh….it’s not in your nature. …we get it. ..

  3. If this team can do better than 2-3 the rest of the way, this coaching staff will have earned every penny, coaching up walk-ons, adapting your game planning, it’s getting tougher each week. Let’s hope guys get healthy.

  4. Wolf you are the most negative sports writer around. Don’t you think these walk-ons are jacked to be able to play?! Forced! This is the time of their lives, can’t you appreciate that. Orgeron is the coach of a college football team not the mayor or governor. Lighten up have fun. Orgeron and the rest of the staff are coaching their brains out.

    • If you want happy news why do you read his articles? There are plenty of Sunshine Pumper sites for you to follow. Tell us why you keep coming here.

      • It’s called balanced reporting and analysis. Wolf can find a positive anywhere. I come here because it’s not worth it to pay at other sites and it’s fun!

    • This is amateur shock hack writing of the worst kind. This guy would have turned in Reggie Bush himself under the auspices and facade of journalism, just to get credit for it. And we banned Reggie from USC? Sheesh. We banned the wrong guy. Thanks to this writer, girly men like SUCLA and Stu Chocolate Tunnel have a means of remediating the years of torment they suffered as feminine children. Ate CLAP bRuins.

  5. No doubt there are some very tough games in the coming weeks, but there is more to college football than wins and loses. This team has faced discouraging hardships over the last two seasons, which is why it is so inspiring to see the players continue to give it all they have. Most people, faced with the adversity thrown at this team, would have quit. Not these guys. I am very proud of this team. These young men have earned our support and admiration.

  6. I always agree with Wolfie. Always. But not here. Other teams might have quit, but these Trogans are still at it. They aren’t very good, but they deserve credit where it is due.

  7. {The defense did a nice job but faced another team with an injured quarterback.}

Scott, hasn’t anyone ever told you that when you use “but” in a sentence it negates what was stated previously? Sure, ND and Utah had injured QBs ‘BUT’ SC also had injured players. See how that works? A better way to write your sentence would’ve been: “The defense did a nice job the last two weeks CONSIDERING the number of injured players they had on that side of the ball.”

  8. The secondary alone merited a full article… Two true Freshmen Safeties, Shaw taking one for the team, and true frosh Seymour fighting through injuries. Amazing.

  9. Actually Scottie the biggest difference between Utah and Notre Dame was that Hedari made his field goals.

  10. It was a nice win for SC yesterday. Not a surprising win as Utah is a horrible road team but a nice win nevertheless given the roster issues.

Wolf keeps trying to compare this team to the Carroll teams. He just loves the Pete Carroll era. What SC is dealing with are the remnants of the Pete Carroll/Reggie Bush issues. It seems like one minute the scholarship restrictions don’t matter until of course they do matter for Wolfie. And this is a guy that talks about the TEAM being inconsistent?

A lot of football yet to be played for both teams in the city. It will be interesting to see how it plays out. Happy to see Heidari have a better game. Good for the kid.

  11. you can cry about the injuries or you can make it positive Coach O is making it positive I’ll stick with that

  12. “The defense did a nice job but faced another team with an injured quarterback.”

    Another back-handed commpliment, pathetic!

Hey wolfman, you’re nothing more than a fucing TOOL that takes great pleasure in distorting the picture.
How does it feel to know that 95% of people who frequent this blog have no respect for you!

  13. Dear Wolf,
Your really not writing anything new, you have been harping the same crap all year… yes we all know the offense struggles and has all year, and yes we all know how the USC team was in the Pete Carroll era..
Stop living in the past and report something insightful that will catch the readers eye..
I stopped reading after the PC era.. Your content is the same over and over again!
