Former USC Commit Derik Calhoun Commits To Arizona State

In a pretty quick turnaround after decommitting from USC last week, the linebacker announced he would now go to Arizona State.

  1. poor trojies losing recruits to ASU. That beat down in Tempe coming back to haunt you again.

    • Let’s take a moment and have a round of applause for Hundley’s 64 passing yards against Oregon! They should just hand him the Heisman trophy right now.

      • Now that was on his first drive, no?…..the 1st Quarter?…..by half time??…. the entire GAME????….oops….well, he did have three freshmen on their OL and his confidence was probably not 100%, due to their inexperience…..plus, Hundley reportedly may have suffered a concussion in their game against Utah, so lingering effects, perhaps?…..

      • yes, let’s. And then let’s get back on topic – SC losing it’s only real recruit thus far to ASU! HARHAR! Now THAT burns!

    • Drive Thru Stu, that gordita you sold me yesterday came back to haunt me this morning.

        • TH, I was waiting for Drive Thru Stu to post his sarcastic “Oh, burn!” response before making an “Oh, it burned all right!” joke.

          • HA!….. He is rather predictable, isn’t he?…. sorry if I may have “jumped your route”…..

          • If they’re going to troll anyway, we might as well try to have some fun with them.

          • Speaking of having fun with the trolls, where’s Bucket? He’s probably busy trying to cancel that order of UCLA 2014 Rose Bowl T-shirts that he ordered. Don’t worry Bucket, the Clippers are supposed to be good this year. You can sell Clipper T-shirts outside of the Staples Center instead.

          • Have UCLA fans even claimed Azzhole as one of their own?…… I didn’t think so…..he’s obviously acting alone….as he always will

          • I hope that Stu shaves her **gina. Will help her burning sensation. BOOM! Wimpy girly!

    • Poor Stu’s **gina hurts so bad that she has to find places she is unwanted in hopes of cures.

  2. This seems to be the usual scenario when the player doesn’t expect to qualify academically. But why does ASU have such a low bar for admittance?

      • Find any link that suggests he couldn’t gain acceptance to SC and post it. Issue wasn’t grades, it was football!

        • “Find any link…..”…..that’s actually quite comical….because you believe everything you read on the internet, right?…Ha!…..I suppose that I could flip it around and ask YOU to find any link that suggests that the issue was football, but I digress…..it is highly unlikely that any university would put themselves in the awkward position of publicly announcing that a particular student athlete couldn’t gain acceptance to their school due to poor grades or test scores….I am not an attorney, but I’m guessing that there are probably some right to privacy laws involved and a potential libel/slander suit waiting to happen

          • he posted his SAT scores previously. No issue. But I LOVE that you’re falling back to the old “he couldn’t get in” thing seeing as how SC was 11th of 12 in those recent graduation stats!

          • getting in and graduating are two different things. Non-douches know this. One is an admissions issue, the other is the level of academic support the athletic department gives these athletes.

But hey, you want to wear Eau de Summer’s Eve. Enjoy!.

        • I’ll bet Scottie could find some unidentified sources to confirm it.

It took some time for the truth to come out regarding Burflict’s change… but eventually it did come out.

There’s not a lot of transparency from both sides of the table during football recruitment.

          • Nobody ever questioned Burfict’s grades – everybody knew what was up. SO far though, Troxans on this board are the only ones questioning DJ’s.

    • A couple of years ago when researching universities with my daughter, we were looking at acceptance rates and stumbled onto an interesting comparison. It was easier to get into Stanford than it is to get rejected at ASU. And no, you Trojies, she didn’t apply to ASU. She is at the good SC.

  3. I fully expect USC’s recruiting to sputter along until we name a coach. Who would want to commit to a school if you don’t know who’s going to be coaching you. As much as I love SC, if I were a recruit, even I wouldn’t commit until a coach was named. I know they say you should pick the school for the school and not for the coach, but since you’re going to be spending thousands of hours with the guy who will be shaping your (hopefully) professional future, it makes sense to know who it is before committing.

If USC names someone like Chris Petersen, Kevin Sumlin, or Art Briles as head coach, I expect the commitments will flood in… especially if the new coach is smart enough to keep key guys like Ed Orgeron, Clancy Pendergast, and/or Tee Martin.

And don’t forget, the new coach will be able to offer 15 regular scholarships, in addition to the five EE leftover from last recruiting season. So as bad as it’s been, the new guy will only be five scholarships short and will be able to completely remold the team in his desired image in a few short years.

If Haden makes the right choice (and let’s face it, there could be several “right” choices) the USC football program will be headed onward and upward in no time.

    • Let’s just hope the HC decision is made before it’s too late for this year’s class of recruits.

    • I agree which is why this isn’t going to be done the way AZ State did it when they finally tabbed Graham or even more pathetic Guerrero’s skilled laser choice of Alford – do it the way AZ and WA St. did it – winnow your list yourself – let cut outs find out if a candidate is truly interested while simultaneously conduct the vetting (No George O’Learly’s here) then make the announcement but all done after 30th November

    • Whoever says pick the school not the coach knows nothing about major college sports. The coach is everything. Let’s hope this search goes better than the bball search

    • You dopes are ignoring the fact that EE’s have to be committed and IN by early January. Which EE’s are on SC’s radar right now? More importantly, which EE’s really care about an SC offer right now? Anyone? Those rides are going to go to WASTE unless a coach is hired now, which ain’t gunna happen. HarHar!

And for the sake of argument, if Petersen, Sumlin and Briles are the 3 finalists (all great choices mind you), none will be able to recruit early enough to get the EE’s in. Bwahahaha!

      • Calhoun was not an EE candidate.

But thanks for playing, Chuckles. Your status as King Douche is secure.

          • BOOM! You have CLAP, yes you have CLAP you are a whiny girly man yes you are!!! Girly girly girly man!!!! Drippy drippy drippy CLAP! BOOM BOOM BOOM! Never gets old never gets old never ever ever. Ate CLAP.

        • Never said he was. Just reminding you TORXANS that you’re going to blow all those rides Lane so smartly saved since you have no coach to recruit EEs. HAHA! And thanks, absolutely LOVE the new title. It’s great to be KING!

  4. Bucket must still be struggling. I guess he was delusional enough to think that his bruins could make a splash on the national level. Ha!!
