USC Morning Buzz

OREGON.STATE.LOGO

With so much focus on injuries and USC’s depleted roster, some suggest that the university should complain to the NCAA about endangering student-athletes by making the the Trojans play with 50-some available healthy scholarship players.

But how about complaining to the Pac-12 about making USC play on one less day of rest this week? And since USC went into the season with fewer scholarship players, why did it agree to play a game with one less day to recover?

USC Injury Report

USC wide receiver Marqise Lee did not attend Monday’s practice at Howard Jones Field so his sprained left knee remained questionable. The Trojans’  other starter at wide receiver, Nelson Agholor, also did not attend the practice because he is recovering from a sprained ankle.

Defensive end Morgan Breslin (hip), cornerback Anthony Brown (knee) and tight end Randall Telfer (knee) are officially out for the Oregon State game. Tight Xavier Grimble (ankle), right tackle Kevin Graf (ankle), safety Su’a Cravens (groin) and tight end Jalen Cope-Fitzpatrick (knee) are questionable.

Recruiting Thought

Obviously there was no worry about holding the recruiting class together after Lane Kiffin got fired (except for Derik Calhoun who would have decommitted anyways) but maybe another question is how the new coach will feel about all these recent commitments?

He might not have many scholarships left by the time he gets hired in December, which is when a hire should take place.

Tale Of Two Stadiums: Notre Dame v. USC

Photos/Lindsey Thiry

Here’s dueling photos of Notre Dame Stadium for USC-Notre Dame and the Coliseum last weekend each 20 minutes before kickoff. I’d hardly say it’s unusual because you could also go to Michigan, Penn State or Ohio State and find a similar scene 20 minutes to kickoff.

But at the Coliseum . . . never.
