Trojans Say This Is USC’s Biggest Win In Two Years

USC linebacker Hayes Pullard said this was USC’s biggest victory since defeating Oregon in Eugene in 2011 and safety Dion Bailey agreed.

“It’s a huge win for us,” Bailey said. “When we went 10-2, it took a win at Oregon to get us going.”

  1. Still pushing Riley for HC, Wolfie? Great win for this Trojan team. Was awesome seeing the dancing on the sidelines, having fun. Haven’t seen a sideline like that since 2008.

  2. Riley flunks his tryout, Ed O should now be a front runner. We can seamlessly jump start recruiting by declaring him the head coach after the win over fucla.

    • Yes, Coach O would have a pretty strong case for staying as HC if he could beat fUCLA this season. No doubt about it.

      • Gruden as HC and Coach O running recruiting is the dream scenario. But if USC can’t get Gruden, hire Orgeron (definitely over Sark or, dear God, Riley).

        • I agree TF….Coach O has the right attitude for coaching these young men..and I stress the word “young”. He has grown exponentially since his Ole Miss days and I see him as a much more viable coach for us than either Sark or Riley.

      • Gruden, is the opposite of Kiffin, “all show and no go”. Inherited a Super Bowl Team and ran it into the ground, of which it has not recovered in 10 years.

        • Huh? “Inherited a Super Bowl team and ran it into the ground” he turned the raiders around and took them to a Super Bowl and how did it work out for them when he left???? Beat Navy

        • ‘….not recovered in 10 years.” Think I’ve heard that logic before – kind of like Prez. Kool-daddio Barakska – “Ain’t me! Bush left dis’ mess!”

  3. Glad to see some Trojans joining the push for Coach Org to be the permanent SC head guy. One thing you gotta like about him is that his enthusiasm is genuine and the players obviously love him

    • The men of Troy, with the win last night are Bowl eligible. This did not seem possible a few weeks ago, as we looked down he barrel of a 5-8 season. Now we can reasonable expect an 8-5 season.

If Coach O is not selected as the new HC, at end of regular season, I see no reason for them to play in a bowl game. This time can be used for the Assistant coaches to find jobs and players to heal.

        • Thanks…I live in SEC land and use to the celebrations of the bottom dwellers after the sixth win.

          • Now Scott and the Victory Weekly Update state SC is Bowl eligible . What ever and when ever, I hope Coach “O” gets a bowl win.

      • 15 extra practices with a young roster and a chance to experience the bowl atmosphere far outweigh giving assistant coaches the chance to find a new job.

          • It only works when the coach doesn’t lose the team.

What I most like about Coach O is how the team (other than Aundrey Walker, who needs to be benched for all the penalties) is improving. Buck Allen would never have developed like this under Kiffin. Kessler is getting better every week. And Agholor is becoming a real weapon–a great option, particularly when Lee is healthy.

Last year, the team that finished the year was a shell of the team that started the year. In college football, teams should improve quite a lot in season. This one is. That’s the greatest testimony to Coach O and the staff.

          • Each week it seems to be a different player. Coach “O” ‘s expressions were painfully funny and priceless.

    • Let’s go look for him on the gutties site! It’s fun to go over there and pour hydrogen peroxide on that ant hill.

      • Like shooting fish in a barrel. Those bRuin turds get riled at the drop of a hat. It’s hilarious.

        • Some of us Bruin turds said it was a nice win. Congrats. No need to run away. It’s a long season and lots of football to be played. SC winning in Corvallis surprised many people, including you Joe, if I remember correctly. Definitely surprised me.

  4. Orgeron has shown he has learned from his mistakes as a head coach. He said this time would be different and so far it has been. Maybe he can make victories like this one common place again.

  5. I didn’t think they could do it, let alone in the way they did it….I was a doubter……great effort by all….is Coach O one win versus fucla or Stanford from seriously getting this job??? I think its possible….I was there last night and I’ve never seen fewer Trojan fans at a road game….

    • Kinda think that loss at ND made some Trojan road warriors slow their roll took. I know it did mine.

  6. What’s really telling is today’s Letters To The Editor in the LA Times – not one mention of UCLA loss to OR. Is there now an agreed to acknowledgement of a lack of relevance or is it indifference?

USC looked truly great last night – ‘if’ AZ St. were to lose to: two against UT, OR St., UCLA or AZ and USC sweep the board we’re in the Pac-12 Championship game and a very good shot to get to the Rose Bowl

    • Whoa! Traveler needs a rest Dude. I do like our chances of 3 wins of our 4 remaining games, Cal, Colo, and The Cardinal. Yes, I like our front 7 against the Cardinal. Don’t know how much we have left for the RUINS. Hopefully, Coach “O” will give you an early Xmas present.

  7. One “yes it was pretty big” win over a historically inept bottom feeder program. Yes, based on the specific struggles USC has had up there, it’s still just a very nice win over a generally mediocre team. A team with far less over all talent than is at USC. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a Trojan through and through, but when you take a good look at it, the euphoria of the fan base over last nights victory just shows how far our great program has fallen, since Lane Kiffin’s thankfully ended tenure.
I’m happy for the win and the recent moves in such a positive direction, but I don’t think that Coach O, to HC would be the end-all proper move for Haden to make. It’s just a nice quick-fix to help us get through the rest of the season. I do hope however that I’m proven wrong in downplaying Orgeron,
USC needs and deserves a high power, high profile, proven coach and system to take us back into the upper echelon. That place where a road win against anyone the caliber of Oregon St. is of little significance, and losses like we just endured vs the Domers, based on the way the game was played, would be a resultant warning to any coach that their job was now on the line!
USC is one of a tiny handful of destination jobs, and although the pool of legitimate coaching candidates is pretty small, it’s not the level of talent that Orgeron probably fits in.
So good for Coach O, bless him actually for being able to temporarily plug that hole. I think that the only way that Orgeron should get really serious consideration to retain this HC position would be if he convincingly swept the rest of the schedule which would end in a big bowl victory. Fight On
PS.. Last night, it was great not being inundated with massive repetitive commentary regarding our incredible disadvantage due to injury and sanctions.

  8. SUC 2013 FB tales. SUC wins at Oregon St. 31 -14. It’s SUC’s biggest win in two years. SUC now deserves NC consideration. What a joke. SUC players jumping around like a weekend pee-wee league team. Hey mom we’re winning, take my picture. Fudgesicles and root beer for everybody. Pathetic.

    • FUCLAs 2nd noteworthy (but not meaningful) season in 15 years, since handicapped placards. And what is the result? Baited FUCLA cowards like SUCLA who have nothing better to do than post where they are unwanted. Talk about pathetic. Talk about a secondary, meaningless degree that gives you nothing but time to write where you do not belong. What a phukin **ssy. Must be boring in your IE trailer tonight. ask big bro and mom to pass the Ripple. Ate CLAP
