Here’s what USC’s new basketball locker room has on the wall. We own L.A.? Beat Utah State first.

  1. It’s called building the teams confidence, Scottie…..you should try it sometime…..this is a shining example of why you should never reproduce…..not that any woman in her right mind would ever……… well, you get my drift, I’m sure……

    • Did you think it was a good idea when Neuweasel did the same thing 5 years ago proclaiming “The Football Monopoly in Los Angeles Is Officially Over”? Or do you automatically oppose anything Scott posts?

      • Do you think there is no difference between posting a mural on a locker room wall and taking out a full page ad in the LA Times?

        • Did you think this mural wouldn’t get publicized and go viral on the internet? Both are equally stupid. You go out and earn respect on the court or field instead of declaring it.

          • Your question/point is a complete non-sequitur. You are equating a full page ad in the LA Times to a mural in a locker room. That makes
no sense, since one is intended to be seen by the public and one is intended for a relatively finite group of people.

By your logic, Notre Dame should be admonished for having the sign “Play Like A Champion Today” when they haven’t been champions in 25 years. Based on your reaction, you seem to believe that a
school, AD, coaches are precluded from a rather innocuous display of
            confidence.

I’m quite moved by your proclamation that respect should
be earned and not declared. Still, do you honestly think anyone at USC thought for one instance that by displaying this mural was “declaring respect?”

You are being deliberately obtuse or are incapable of differentiating between an LA Times ad that was intended to motivate one school’s alumni, students and fan base, and a locker room mural that is intended for 12 members of the men’s basketball team.

      • So now we need to walk on eggshells and worry about what other people think?…..ok…. BTW…. I had no problem with Slick Rick’s proclamation that “The Football Monopoly in Los Angeles Is Officially Over”…. the last time I checked, the games that matter are actually played on the field…..

        • Sure you didn’t. Neuweasel made himself a laughingstock and never recovered. Why would we repeat his idiocy? You are simply incapable of criticizing ANYTHING the administration does.

          • And you are incapable (or rather, unwilling) to say ANYTHING positive about this team, the coaching staff, administration, etc….. just like Wolf…..maybe you two are twins?

          • You call people who have optimism “rah rah’s”. Does that make people like you “pout pout’s”? Or maybe “cry cry’s”?

        • Slick Rick didn’t come up with that proclamation. It was some moron in the Athletic Dept. He shouldn’t be hammered for stuff he didn’t do or know about. After all, he is an SC Law School grad.

        • Neuheisel’s problem was like Clinton and sexual assaults – regardless of validity it stuck. Rick never should have done that shrill screeching into the microphone at Bruin mens BB games

    • It’s difficult for two males to have children unless Scott were to adopt.

  2. Actually they do own LA…it’s just a part of LA in a bad neighborhood, but hey, that’s nitipicking. The outlook for Florida Gulf Coast West should be quite bright in the future.

      • Hey THoarse…glad you stil have your sense of humor. Never have to worry about SC’s economic situation…although I think the Ducks may now have even more money with the Phil Knight connection.

        • Hey PU….Thanks…..can’t take some things in life too seriously, especially this blog……With his influx of Nike dollars, Phil Knight has definitely upped the ante big time…..I guarantee that other university’s, especially in the SEC, will cry “fowl” (pun intended) if the Ducks manage to win the BCS NC game this season………

          • We hired a BB coach that abused his position when one of his players at Iowa was accused of rape. We are thrilled about that. Your new hire won 2 games in the tourney but does’t have much of a track record. Good be a great hire but tough to predict. Do you guys care about BB? Galen has been pretty empty.

          • LA fans are typically front runners…..if you build it, they won’t always come…..the up tempo offense alone will be a huge improvement from the last few years and should result in increased attendance…..it’s a shame, really, as the Galen Center is actually a very nice facility…..

          • Yes it is. I was there for a couple of SC/UCLA games. Seemed like we may have outnumbered you in the stands. No reason for SC to not field a decent team. Doesn’t take that many players.

          • I agree….. I have a good feeling about this year….I think that we will be better than the 11th best team in the Pac-12, which is where the media currently have us…….

          • See..Blow has a lot of anger issues. He says he doesn’t like BB and doesn’t care….so I am not sure what I said that was upsetting and untrue.

          • If you believe Blow, he says he doesn’t care about:
            1. USC football (i.e. “We know we suck, but UCLA thinks they are good”)
            2. USC basketball
            3. UCLA football or basketball

Perhaps he’s just an an enigma wrapped in misery.

          • Hey what a clever quip! So interesting. Not. We aren’t your friends and we don’t care that you really live in Vista. Ate CLAP

          • S.U.C.LLLLLL.A

S.U.C.L.A. sucks, swallows and follows the better school kids with green envy. Ate CLAP

          • And if you’d stop needing affection from USC Trojans, you might find some affinity amongst your own alumnae. Look hard. There’s got to be a strand of bRuin family someplace. Maybe. Ate CLAP.

          • Just go away and you won’t have to worry about JBs issues anymore. You can work on your own (ie needs for attention, companionship and association). Ate CLAP.

          • SUCLA doin what he does best. Ding dong ditch with big bro. But big bro likes SUCLA suckin. Ate CLAP

          • I heard you had you last tooth pulled because RE business in Fontana sucks. So, according to my sources you’re now giving a free smoothie with each new shack listing.

          • Oh big bro must have been lonely and wanted some fresh air. Just like you to ring the bell when he’s done corning your roast. We expect no less from cowardice, unemployed Fontana trash like yourself. Get to bed lil SUCky. You’ll need your energy for big bro tomorrow. I know that’s how you girls role in Fontucky. Ate CLAP

          • Sounds good Fontucky SUCky! I’ll save you a little. I bet you’ll appreciate it tomorrow while you’re kicking stones in the trailer park, breaking windows and stealing radios. What else do you unemployed girls do all day in Fontucky, SUCky? Ate CLAP

          • Having you to compare myself to makes me feel good enough Fontucky SUCky. Ate CLAP

          • By the way, UCLA hired a coach that made the same number of Sweet 16 appearances as USC’s did.

And I personally love college basketball, but O’Neill’s teams were just real hard to watch. Slow, bad shooting, poor defensive teams that tried to win 40-39 and usually lost 70-40 is just not the way I want to spend 2 hours. Being a fan is one thing. Masochism is another.

(I went to a lot of the games when Floyd was coach, because those were fun teams to watch). I plan to go see Enfield’s games now, for the same reason.

          • Do you see us Bruins celebrating over hiring Alford? Not exactly. Would be like you hiring Steve 7&6Kisian as your football coach.

          • I actually didn’t know what Bruins fans thought of the hire. I was surprised though that UCLA went with the same type of coach after letting Howland go rather than looking for a different style. I think that was why Haden basically said style was one of the most important variables in his hire–he wanted to cleanse USC of the O’Neill stench so he went out and found a coach that was diametrically opposed to O’Neill. Enfield plays the Clipper style of lob and dunk. And he has hair. Oh and isn’t a fall-down drunk.

          • Haden could afford to take a risk on the BB hire because Galen has been empty and the program has never been as strong as it should be. I have thought for years that SC should have approached Paul Westhead. His style would have put people in the seats. Enfield had a good week or so and may be great. Who knows?

UCLA with it’s history…similar to SC football…should have been able to get a top-notch hire. There is little enthusiasm about Alford’s coaching ability and a lot of upset over how he mishandled the rape case. Our AD botched the whole thing.

          • Phuqe Eue and your bRuins. Why you come in here looking for acceptance from us is perplexing. You’ll never see me posting on your powder blue board. Sorry your mom neglected you or that sister got more attention, but it isn’t our fault. Ate CLAP

          • Hey SUCLA! How’s your sphincter? I hope big bro went hard on you today. We know that’s the way you like it girly boy. Otherwise you’d find something more meaningful than following the better kids around. But imitation is the most sincere form of flattery and you have such a thing for the boys, so……We are flattered. Ate CLAP

          • Yeah..I worship here Ty-D-Bowl Man! No need to insert yourself in a civil conversation.

          • TH, don’t get sucked in by PU. He’s a turd that kisses @$$ when he’s about to get plugged. Pay him no mind. I don’t even respond to him anymore.

          • He seems to be ok to me, so far……however, if it becomes an issue, I will abort all communications…thanks for the heads up….

  3. Wolfie conveniently did not post the other mural in the new basketball locker room, which was inspired by head coach Andy Enfield’s favorite saying, “When the sun comes up, start running.”

  4. HAWR-HAWR!!!

that’s what i’m TALKIN’ ‘BOUT, wolfman!!!

That is flat out EMBARRASSING considering the sails went FLOP on trOXans basketball YEARS AGO!!!!

    wolfman, you’re BACK, BABY!!!!

  5. Reminds me of that “We pLAy to finish” add that ironically ended on a negative note… .

  6. Scott, wouldn’t they just need to beat UCLA and Loyola Marymount to own LA?

I agree this mural is idiotic–unless it is a conditional–“we plan to own LA” or “We will own LA.”

Now the football team DOES own LA, since UCLA doesn’t even play in LA.

  7. They should have gone with Option B: a big photo of the coach’s wife from her Maxim days.

  8. That is almost as preposterous as CRN’s pointy billboard that said “The Monopoly in L.A. Is Officially Over.” On the other hand, a sports psychologist might argue that if you envision it, you are one step closer….

  9. Over the years SC has had some great basketball teams, and basketball has more thrills in a game than any football game (although the thrills i.e. touchdowns, do outstrip basketball’s thrills)

And there are more than 10,000 Trojan fans who would fill Galen Center every game if Troy had a winning team. And those fans would be like Clippers fans i.e. full of thunder and wonder at how their second-hand team was suddenly a contendah.
