USC Morning Buzz

USC.STANFORD.2011

How do you know this is USC’s biggest game of the year? No. 5-ranked Stanford is the first time the Trojans play a ranked team all season. Ed Orgeron joined quarterback Cody Kessler in hoping for a large crowd .Full story here

“They’re so well-coached that if we make a mistake they will score a touchdown on you,” Orgeron said of Stanford.

  1. This would have been a bigger game if Utah could only have hung on to defeat ASU Saturday, but the ‘Devils have to lose two and SC has to be undefeated for the Trojans to qualify for the South Division “title.”

    • SUC is playing its first ranked team this year, and Johnny has SUC in the So. Div. title game. The type of logic is featured prominently in Will Farrell movies. If UCLA had SUC’s paddy-cake schedule they’d be undefeated.

      • Did you put any thought into your reply? The ruins were blown out by a common opponent, Stanford.

Go chase parked cars if you are looking for something to fill the void in your life. Your obsession with this blog is creepy

PS….before you call others dumb, you need to look in the mirror

        • T-fail…aka “The Board idiot”…Common opponent? When did you knuckleheads play Stanford? UCLA sure dodged a bullet by not having to play WAZZU this year. The mighty COUGS are impressive having beaten SOUTHERN Utah, SOUTHERN Cal, Cal, and “perennial powerhouse” Idaho. WHEW!!!!! lucky for us.
          Fit UN d-bag!

          • schedule = games 1-13, His post is ambiguous.

The ruins struggled against Utah and Arizona, two teams USC handled rather easily. Had one play gone the other way in each game you lose both of them.
So, what exactly is the point you are trying to make, that you’re a pathetic troll that has a massive hard on for me.

PS….If you have something to say about Silas, say it to his face. But we all know you’re a little pu$$y that hides behind his keyboard.

            Third finger in!

          • T-FAIL…such intimate knowledge…”had one play gone the other way…..”(sooo reminiscent of the good old days with the IFFIN’S…..Iffin this, iffin that,) yet you swear you’d NEVER watch a UCLA game, unless it was against SUCks!
            Fit UN Fail!

          • Wrong person, I enjoy watching ucla play, especial against Oregon and Stanford! That Dementia is some nasty stuff

Too easy, your game needs some work

          • You played both teams at home. You beat Arizona by 7, hardly easy. Almost gave it away. Utah is MUCH better at home, just ask ASU and Stanford. Plus, their QB was injured against SC. At least get some perspective.

You guys are playing well right now. The win over OSU was impressive. Just don’t get TOO carried away.

          • Agreed. I think most of us are just thrilled that Orgeron salvaged what looked like a truly lost, perhaps even historically bad season. I’ll admit it–after the ASU game, I wasn’t sure if they’d win another one all season (ok, maybe Colorado and Cal).

Right now, USC is playing like a good, middle of the conference Pac-12 team. I would put them 5th in the conference behind Stanford, Oregon, ASU, and UCLA. USC is right there with Washington, right in the middle of the conference.

But they have the chance to propel themselves up in the top 3 (and maybe even a little higher if they can beat Stanford). And considering they are doing it with a first year QB, scholarship restrictions (sorry, Scott, they DO matter), an extremely young defensive backfield, and an offensive line that seriously needs work, that’s a pretty good season.

After ASU, I told people “this is what rock bottom looks like at USC.” So yeah, it’s a lot better than we all thought it was going to be that Saturday night in September. But they have to prove it on the field in November.

But hey, it’s going to be a fun month! Who thought THAT after ASU?

It’s exciting to be a part of a rising program

          • I think you could call ASU, UCLA, Washington and SC all about equal at this point. We play all 3 in a row. Going to be very interesting. Clearly Stanford and Oregon are the class of the conference at this point and the next 4 are a notch below trying to get there.

          • Yes, I would agree.

Traditionally, ucla is at the point in the season where they start to regress.

          • Sometimes the regression is a matter of the schedule. Last year we lost a meaningless game to Stanford, then a close one in the PAC12 Champ. game to Stanford and then to Baylor, who it turns out is a really good team. We have yet to take the next step by beating teams we aren’t supposed to beat. The program is definitely on the rise but has not gotten done what it needs to do. We have 3 50/50 games ahead of us.

The future looks quite bright with playing 18 freshman this year, including 3 true fresmen on th OL.Don’t know if you saw Myles Jack against Arizona, but he is a stud. We need to finish strong this year. Next year will be interesting as the schedule is more favorable.

          • No shame playing in the Toilet Bowl, sponsored by Depends. At least bucket will get a free sample at the gate!

          • Charlie, get back in bed! I want you to meet a new friend

….and why do you let TF fill you head?

          • Chuckles, do you have any idea just how douchy it is to make fun of a player because he’s battled through injury issues? Why not make fun of Tony Dorsett for admitting he’s had some head trauma issues? Or while you are at it, how about a well-placed Darryl Stingley joke?

          • Exactly! Then why are you comparing the schedules? What a stupid idiot!

If you misspoke then say so

Go take the trash out before your mom revokes the internet privileges

      • Hopefully USC does better than getting blown out by every ranked team they play, a la fucla

        • It is better than getting blown out by a non-ranked opponent and losing to two in the Bottom Top 10!

          • Bill, you really struggle with all this football talk. Never trust the cartoon network to get your football facts!

Does the new breakfast platter come with hash browns?

          • Using your logic, Stanford is two plays away from having three losses, (Hundley’s INT with two min left, and the missed onside kick by Washington with 2:25 left before Stanford held on 31-28). As well, USC is a play away from being 6-4, considering Utah State had a chance to tie it with a field goal in the fourth, but ended up losing 17-14…

    • South Division title for the torgans? Never has happened, and it will be YEARS before it ever does.
      fit UN though!

      • Fuc you!….You forgot 50-0, everyone knows who really won the south in 2011……Then you get BLOWN OUT in the title game, you embarrassed the whole south division.

That dementia is some nasty stuff, please use the 9mm

          • I remember 13-9 knocking you out of the National Championship game and 50-0 got us our present coach and a new dominance! I think we got the better end of the deal!

          • Are you sure about that?

Why do ruin fans trolls continue to obsess over this blog. You guys sound homeless

          • One BCS in 14 years. If you call the end where the shlt comes out the better end, then so be it!

        • UCLA’s participation in the first-ever P12 championship game was by default, and certainly not earned. However, I am not sure I would call losing to Oregon 49-31 a “blow out”–a UofO team that finished 12-2 and #4 in the nation.

          • ……and the bruin fan said, “It wasn’t a blow-out, it was a moral victory!…..pathetic!

The score was 49-24 with five minutes left in the 3rd quarter and the bruins scored a mop-up TD with one minute left to make it 49-31, that was a blow-out, my friend

          • A week after 50-0, 49-31 seemed pretty good. We were anticipating far worse. We had a bad team. Plain and simple. AND in the past. Is this a blog tied to the History Channel?

          • But yet, so proud of a 2011 south division title.

History defines all the great football programs…….and the not so good ones!

          • Oregon is good but they have no real history. SC chooses to live in the 60s, the 70s and the Pete Carroll era. The years in between, not so much.

History needs to be made, not wallowed in. That includes my Bruins in basketball.

Who is proud of the 2011 South Division Title? There were no worthy teams that year. Could have been SC but Garrett decided to delay and delay the sanctions which were inevitable.

          • You’re right per Garrett his arrogant remark up in SFO “…they envy us.” was the final nail – good riddance to him.

BTW that logic about USC football come on UCLA’s mens basketball program is even more tilted – save for the remarkable 10 titles from 1964-75 what Jim Harrick….and?

          • Very similar tracks actually. Agreed. That’s why I included it in my comments about Bruin basketball. We had 3 Final 4’s with Howland but didn’t win. SC was great under Pete but ended up with sanctions.

Kids today don’t remember Wooden, McKay or Robinson. Carroll will soon be a distant memory for them, if not already. It is us, the fans, that wallow in the “glory days”.

          • No, not proud. We sucked for 14 years. You owned our butts the entire 00’s except for one fluke win. Now we don’t suck. There are no moral victories. Moral victories are for losers. That mentality left the building with Neuheisel.

        • Losing to WSU embarrassed the Southern Division a whole lot more! Or losing to a Stanford team at home as a 48 point favorite is still the ultimate embarrassment!

          • Hey waste bucket, if you have something say to me, say it!. Quit hiding behind your cast of misfits

      • Plan B, a game against Boise in my backyard, Las Vegas.

Not what I’m looking for, but have always wanted a chance at Boise, it’s a personal thing

      • Perhaps bucket will follow. They also have an opening for an entry level janitor. I’m not sure if bucket’s skill-set is that advanced. His mom said, he’s quite skilled at painting walls, interesting

  2. Hey Wolf, in your article you mention the “double overtime thriller in 2011”. Wasn’t it triple overtime?

  3. All the history is fun to read about but has virtually nothing to do with the game itself.

A HUGE THANK YOU TO ALL YOU VETERANS. YOU MADE A DIFFERENCE.

    • lol i wouldnt be caught dead at a fucla game if USC wasn’t playing them. I don’t even watch them play on TV.

    • Thanks for the support! Be sure to make your check for tickets out to “USC football” care of Pat Haden. Thanks to your support, USC should be able to spend $6 million or more on the new coach! Thanks again!

  4. T-FAIL…congrats big fella! TWELVE (12) posts on this single thread alone by Y-O-U…with over 3,800 posts by Y-O-U to date (THOUSANDS MORE than anyone else!) you’re gonna gonna be remembered for EVER,…just like Typhoid Mary!
    fit UN FAIL!

  5. Sorry to interrupt this thread with a little reality-based information…

I look at the BCS rankings…there is Arizona St, at 19.

Then I check the AP…there is Arizona State as well, at 21.

Or did you mean ranked at the time USC played them (I cant recall if ASU was)…because Oregon State was ranked at the time USC played them, as was Notre Dame (I believe they were 25, as I recall.).

So Scott, could you please clarify, which of these ranked teams did I hallucinate USC playing?

    • They weren’t in the Top 25 at the time! Btw, I have been trying to find SuC in the rankings of any type and can’t seem to find them. Are they in the Division 2 rankings? Have they received a vote in the Daily Toejam football poll yet?

  6. Kind of misleading about the unranked opponents if you consider how the Pac-12 is stacked this year and that ASU and OSU were/are ranked at one point. The Pac 12 is devouring its’ own- this will happen again on Saturday when SC beats $tanford, 31-21.
