USC Morning Buzz

It’s game day or is it GameDay? Here’s my preview of today’s USC-Stanford game, which feels different just because of the way the Trojans are so happy to be back in the national conversation.

“There’s a little bit of a different vibe around,” Ed Orgeron said.

  1. The game would mean a lot more to SC if ASU would lose to Oregon State tonight and then to SUCLA next week. That then would set up an exciting SC-SUCLA match in 2-weeks

Another problem is if SC beats Stanford then Oregon will no doubt win the North, and the South winner would have to play at Autzen Stadium, Eugene to determine the Rose Bowl participant.

And if Stanford beats SC the South winner would have to go to Palo Alto to play the Trees

In other words, the South winner in all likelihood is not going to play in the Rose Bowl Game.

  2. Not sure if I am happy or worried, Corso picked USC.

I still think the USC passing game is going to make the big difference this week.

    • OL/DL in the trenches and penalties should decide this one…..hopefully our lack of depth won’t hurt us in the 4th quarter. ..

      • I know everyone keeps saying that, but I think Stanfords glaring weakness is defensive backfield. We don’t need to go deep all the time but get it over the linebackers and see what happens. Gonna be fun.

  3. Kind of disappointed Wolf didn’t get a quote from David Allen for this story. Just sloppy.

  4. Can one of you guys please come retrieve Joe Blow? He’s stumbled over to Wang’s blog and is making sick jokes about Nick Pasquale’s death (toxicology report just released – the kid was drunk when killed). Trolling is one thing. Joking about a kid who made a mistake and paid with his life is another.

        • Thai Mex is a medusa with 30 log-in names, but I will see how many of those little serpents I can slay. I tell you what, if you guys promise me a cigar and some sort of 12-year-old beverage (single malt, of course) at the USC-UCLA tailgate, you have yourself a package deal!
