USC athletic director Pat Haden hugged offensive coordinator Clay Helton after the Trojans’ upset Stanford. The pants and shoes alone are worth a caption.

    And water is wet… Thanks for the insight!!

    Why hug Helton though? Helton is Lane Kiffin with a personality. Horrible making adjustments. 6 points total in the 2nd half in the ND, Utah, and Stanford games. He better not be back next season.

      Stanford shut down Oregon. I think it is related to trying to continuously playing different tailbacks and not keeping a rhythm

      • John Holmes

        Or that Helton simply sucks and can’t make adjustments.

  • Helen

    Clay Helton looks a bit taken back by Haden… awkward.

    Yellow pants and white shoes were California cool back in the ’60s when Haden was a teenager… sadly they are no longer.

      Helen, “RETRO” is in. Maybe Pat is a “Trend Setter”.

        With his money he can wear whatever he wants. Screw trendy.

        • Dr. Paul

          There is historical precedent. Rufus Bernhard von KleinSmid, former President of USC and who was named “Chancellor for Life” in 1947, wore “Spats” on campus right up until his death in 1964.

            I hope KleinSmid met a “happy ending” and didn’t die at the hands of some 7 ft. idiot basketball player or some drunk football tight end. Mercy Nurse!

    So if he’s happy then what is stopping him from naming Ed O as the HC?

    • gotroy22

      If Haden snubs Ed now there will be demonstrations at the John McKay Center.

        Famous quotes from NUBSIE…..
        “I own a Yacht and a home in Newport Beach”
        “Ed Orgeron will NEVER be named head coach at USC”.
        “I won’t come in T-Fails mouth”.

    this is a little too much dry humping for me…its cool when you’re in a uniform…not so much when youre in street clothes. lol! coach O!!!!

  • Cloud Shaman

    when your boss wants to hump your leg what are you going to do

  • rusoviet

    The pressure is going to rise through this week and be in full ‘enflgrante’ after the CO game to announce Coach O as the HC.

    It’s Ed’s – anyone else will: disrupt next year’s players, seriously impact recruiting and rip the fan base apart. The USC: players, coaches, school admin. fans – haven’t been this united since 2006 – Haden knows it – even sweeter he won’t have to deal with an ‘ego’ coach – Orgeron is such a grateful person and he viscerally knows this is one chance in a lifetime (something Kiffin seemed to have more than his share of but I doubt ever ever again).

    1. It must have been a big deal beating the Trees, because the usual SUCLA suspects on this blog have tried to water down SC’s accomplishment to no avail;

    2. Not much mention how it was QB Kessler who was the hero of this game, and how Coach O’s decision to go for it on 4th and 2 at about the 50 yard line was not the percentage play, but was the SC call of the year;

    3. And how about that defense, playing only about 12 guys in a 11 man unit. They did not totally shut down the Trees but they made it possible for an SC win.

    4. And the crowd– there is no minimizing the influence of thousands of screaming people pushing players to be even greater than they thought possible. And that was a majestic effort by the defensive Trojan-11 to keep the Trees pretty much in check

    5. And the crowd’s reaction of rushing the field. Normally I would not like it , being only Stanford, but as stated before, the circumstances warranted that great expression of not only relief, but of great passion.
