USC v. UCLA

OK, we haven’t a forum for the fans to speak to each other in awhile. USC fans, how much more confidenct do you feel today about playing the Bruins in two weeks? UCLA fans, is USC’s surge overrated?

    • I am “confidenct” that the SC Journalism school is overrated at this point.

When it comes to football, they are looking very good. It looks to be a very challenging game for the Bruins…but we have another tough game with ASU this Saturday. A bit premature by Wolf here.

      • Everything about Wolf is premature……premature balding…..premature graying of his hair…..premature ejaculatlon……

  1. Ya Wolf, one game at a time. We don’t like fucla and we don’t like their little guys coming on here so we just ignore most of their petulant little stuff they throw out. Never any substance, just bullying.

  2. We have enough Bruin trolls on here already Scotty, don’t encourage more by asking for their posts.

  3. Anyone else remember this?

“They’re struggling, it’s just awesome to see that,” Shaq Evans said in quotes provided by Scott Wolf of the Los Angeles Daily News. “I hate them, so I’m just loving it. I’ve always hated them.”

“Knowing that we’re going to beat them again this year … especially two years ago when they beat us 50-0. We owe them a little bit,” Evans said. “This year, we’re going to try to embarrass them, honestly.”…….

    The day of reckoning…November 30th, 2013

    • Plenty of stupidity to go around. We will find out if he can back that up on 11/30. There has been no shortage of people having to eat their words over the years.

      • How’s that BA ‘National U’ degree you got in ‘life experience’ that you paid $65K working out for you lunch bag?

          • It’s always the early 90’s corollas with the fucla license plate frames! And for some reason, most have a decal on the doors that say “Molly Maid”

          • At least the Corollas are useful. Comerade’s BMW is up on blocks. A Molly Maid is more relevant then a SUC jerk named SUCONtoVictory. Your Mother has to hire Molly Maids every six months to clean the “dirty filthy basement” you call home. You’re a middle aged loser who still lives with mommy. Nice work SUCtovictory.

          • Dang, life expectancy must have dropped dramatically if being in your 20’s is considered middle aged. And do homes in Southern California even have basements?

    • It’s amazing how far USC has come since this comment was made.

If Kiffin were coaching this team right now, I don’t think USC would stand a chance. Thank God he’s no longer the coach.

Right now USC is the team with the Mo’. Hopefully the Trojan buzz saw is still running with full force two Saturdays from now.

    • A regrettable, immature comment from a 20-year-old college kid. However, I don’t know if this sort of bulletin board material actually makes an opposing team play better–but, I’d rather Evans not test the theory…

      • I agree…. I sincerely doubt that his comments would make an opposing team play better, but I would hate to be him if he were to run a crossing pattern against Cravens/Bailey/Shaw/Pullard etc….

  4. wolfman, as always you are DEAD ON!!! the trOXans have caught everyone by surprise this year, cause everyone was watching their early games!!

did you see David Shaw smiling and chuckling at halftime? he never took SOuthern Cal seriously until it was too late!!

now they are living on adrenaline and that’s gonna be gone for the trap game against CO!!
just don’t slip up. trOXans, we want a RANKED team pm Nov 30th!!!

    • Go ahead and predict a Colorado victory like yuo did the Stanford victory. You even mocked USC fans for believing the team had a chance.

How cute!! All the whittle trOXans think they have a chance now!!

      My prediction: Paaaaaaaain!!

You really need to apologize for your lack of football knowledge.

How is your “buddy” ThaiMex’s 5-8 prediction working out?

You are officially more full of crap than any man in the history of college football.

    • You keep looking for your a$$hole, but for some strange reason your finger ends up in SUC’s ear, then you sniff it……you stupid idiot, it’s not the same aroma!……

      Dementia is some nasty stuff!

  5. Hundley better earn to pass better – he has steadily declined.
One major problem for UCLA is, as beautiful as the setting is, they do play in the Rose Bowl – travel time, to and from, dealing with traffic – they can’t even use it during the week to ‘tweak’ their awareness as the darkness changes.

Advantage USC especially if Coach O gets the nod before the 30th – all the focus will be on University Park.

    • I agree with this. At first I thought Haden would wait until after UCLA before making a decision. But now I am starting to think, especially if he brings Orgeron back, he makes the announcement during rivalry week.

  6. And here we have it folks: Proof positive Wolf never checks the comments. this “forum-blog” has more Ucla (why does a four year institution of higher learning not know that all of the letters should be capitalized?) trolls than Trojan readers.
As for the question I think the game will be more interesting than it would have been under Lane what’s his name. I will not predict the outcome but I won’t shy away from attending either.

    • Who wrote it as Ucla (lowercase)? As an alum, that’s not how it’s depicted on campus, online, in the media, etc. You will see spirit wear in cursive with lowercase “cla,” but that’s as a solid word.

      • Do you root for the Trojans except when they play the ruins?. You seem very much infatuated with USC, just an observation

        • Fair question. Unequivocally no. However, my wife’s family is all SC. She is the lone Bruin among 12 SC relatives, including her grandfather, father, and brother. I respect the rivalry and the school, but do not root for the Trojans. My wife still roots for SC when they are not playing UCLA. If I didn’t tread lightly there, I wouldn’t be approaching my 25th wedding anniversary.

      • That is what it says on the helmets. So if it is a solid word how is it pronounced? U’Kla? Ordinarily I don’t give trolls food, but I am not ordinary. When I was working with a college adviser to choose a school I asked what the difference was California State University at Los Angeles and University of California at Los Angeles? her answer was, “The arrangement of the letters; they both give you a degree at the end.” But honestly you don’t see Ucr in Riverside or Uci in Irvine. Why does the football team representing the baby bears wear Ucla? Is it because they haven’t grown into the big letters yet?

        • Check my original response. My answers lie therein. You can bait me, son, but I won’t bite.

    • Ladies and Gentlemen, tostevinSUC, SUCs #1 English Major Brown Nose. Exit, chased by a Bruin.

  7. This USC team in November 2013 is much better than the one the Bruins faced in the Rose Bowl last November. I think for the schemes SC is running on O, that Kessler is more effective, and playing more efficiently, than Barkley was last year (i.e. Barkley had a much better junior season than senior outing). A month ago I would have said that UCLA has the edge in this game, but now, I think USC has the edge. Key to a UCLA win will be containing Allen and the potent SC running attack, and forcing turnovers through the air. And, as usual, as Hundley goes, so go the Bruins. If he plays lights out, he’s hard to contain as a dual threat. The key to an SC victory will be their ability to run the ball against UCLA’s talented front seven. I predict a -4 opening line in favor of the Trojans.

    • I think on one issue you are spot on–how well USC’s defense contains Hundley and this new found power running attack in Myles Jack is going to be huge. They really didn’t contain Gaffney at all Saturday night. What they were able to do is shut down drives before they became scoring drives, and then late overcame the physical exhaustion they were showing with a combination of opportunistic turnovers and some really bad decision-making by Hogan. I don’t think Hundley makes those poor decisions–he’s just a better QB than Hogan.

I think a lot of the game is going to depend on USC’s ability to protect Kessler. Now if they can run the ball and set up play action, that helps a lot. USC’s O Line cannot take UCLA teeing off and blitzing on Kessler. If they are in the backfield all day like they were last year with Barkley, UCLA will win. But if USC’s O Line opens some space for the running attack and/or just pass protect well (they did so pretty well against Stanford, which is a shock since they couldn’t run the football worth a damn) then USC’s superior outside play-makers (presuming Lee is healthy-I think he sits against Colorado to heal for UCLA) can make the plays to win the game.

Unlike Stanford, who seemed to come out flat and confused (two TO in the first set of downs?), UCLA will be jacked up. Stanford was surprised at the energy and noise at the Coliseum. UCLA won’t be. They have that in their favor.

      • That was a huge win for SC. Arguably, a “corner turning” win the likes of which have been scarce the past two years. We had Stanford against the ropes, 17-10, on Stanford’s 25 with 2 min left–when our receiver fell down on a timing route and the ball was intercepted. This matchup on the 30th is buidling up to be a classic rivalry game between two resurgent teams. on Stanford: I was quite surprised how discombobulated Stanford was in the first quarter. Very un-Shaw of them.

Frankly, the team that gives up the least sacks in the 11/30 game probably wins. If you can get to Hundley, it really throws him off. Myles Jack is a freaky phenomenon. The thing is, you know exactly what’s going to happen when Mazzone sends in that wishbone package, but it still works! And the second you start keying on Jack, there goes Hundley on a bootleg, or play action downfield.

Have been very impressed with Cody Kessler. Geez, Kiffin, how could you stand in this kid’s way for so long?!

      • Had the Stanford/SUC game been in Palo Alto then what? BTW, how might SUC do in a Colorado snowstorm. Can’t wait to see.

        • Glad to know you’ll be watching! Be sure to patronize all the advertisers too! We at USC love the revenue you generate.

          • You ever play football in 26 degree weather. The SUC FB team will. Cold temps are not something SUC’s FB squad is used too. Isn’t it a pity? SUC on.

          • Don’t ever leave this blog. No one blindly grasps at straws more often and with less success than you. Even though I know there is no way you graduated from UCLA, please tell me you did. I would love to magnify the confirmation bias I currently have about how well they educate their students across town.

You saying you have a degree from UCLA would almost even out the fact that Wolf has one from USC.

          • Do you really believe ANYONE gets used to 26 degree weather? Another bonehead erroneous assesment by the juvenile hater. Look at the Colorado roster, how many from Calif? You really should not be on here little guy.

  8. Grew up watching this game and graduated from CSUN. As a LA native, I liken the bruins to the clippers or, during a good year, Charlie Brown almost kicking the football out of Lucy’ s hold. GO TROJANS!

  9. FUCLA fans are 100 times more nervous now than they were at the beginning of the year when SC was losing to WSU..
