UCLA WR Shaq Evans Says Bruins `Would Run This Town’ With Victory

UCLA wide receiver Shaq Evans, who ignired a controversy earlier this year, spoke again on the rivalry: “Growing up I hated them since I was a little kid. It feels different (this year) because we know we probably are the better team. We know it wasn’t a fluke last year. I know those guys over think it was.

“To go out there and beat them at their house would pretty much verify we run this town now.”

  1. A UCLA win two years in a row would give them something to boast about. That young man better be careful what he says though. That freshman O line is not going to give Hundley much time, a tipped ball coming Shaq’s way and he’s gonna get popped! He’s gonna feel some hate Saturday.

    • And as decent as Myles Jack has played at RB, he is not yet up to speed with pass protection, from what I have seen….

      • Biggest mistake Mora could make this week is to not play Jack at LB. I’m hoping for some “feature” time in the Wishbone and 8-12 key touches on O. plus full-time on D.

  2. Sounds an awful lot like Ricky Douchenozzel from a few years back. 2 years does not a “running” make. #mootpointanyway

  3. I love when it is the other team pouring gas on the fire. I hope the Trojans stay quiet and let their play do the talking…

  4. It is funny I have never hated Ucla and after football season with a little prodding I might admit they have some good points. Football is not one of them, nor is the band, the cheerleaders, the mascot, the home stadium or their prissy colors. Other than that I don’t hate them

    • and I suppose your clown colors are more “cool”? I don’t know If you knew, but the world’s most famous clown wears Cardinal and Gold – Ronald McDonald.

      • I have it on high authority from a company spokesperson himself named Bucket, the colors on said clown are mustard yellow and ketchup red. His face is white just like the uniforms worn by UCLA a few years ago. Oh and actually I do like the band- but my mom’s dog bit your mascot

    • Actually a good decision by the kid, don’t you think? Who in their right mind would want to be buried behind Woods, Lee, Angholar, Rogers, etc?

He would likely be behind Blackwell if he came to USC.

      • Respectfully, CheapS, I disagree. He may be a silly loudmouth, but the kid’s a gamer. 42 catches for 604 yards, and 8 TDs this year. Those numbers would be second only to Agholor among SC receivers–with twice as many TDs. And that on a UCLA squad that typically uses 10-11 receivers per game.

        • Not knocking the kid’s ability — he catches the deep ball just as good as anyone in the PAC.

However, you remember how much fanfare surrounded the names I mentioned during recruiting? Especially under Kiffin, you weren’t going to see the field at a skilled position unless you were a 5 star guy or a legacy player.

Also, Blackwell went to Mater Dei — the holy grail of USC prep schools. 🙂

          • Yeah, I remember… Plus, if he’d gone to USC, he’d be saying how SC owns the town, is going to kill UCLA, how much he hates UCLA. As Twain says, “Youth is wasted on the young.”

  5. FUCLA will NEVER run College Football in LA or the Pac 12… you can have ok teams here and there, but there is one MAJOR thing FUCLA lacks (besides National Championships / Heisman’s / Hall of Famers / so on and so on)…

    TRADITION!

      • Another stupid assertion. Please quit being so jealous of a school that has traditions. We know you have zip, zero, nada.

        • Not a cheating tradiyoon, that’s for sure. Your crime spree tradition started in 1941 when you stole our Bell. You SCumbags.

      • Ha… Your pathetic… Go grab a tissue and whine your sorrows.. Just like a little brother… “Oh he beat me, but he cheated”… Awwh that’s cute!

    • Sincere question for you: So if UCLA beats USC at the Coliseum for the first time in 15 years, you give that no credence?

      • If they win on Saturday, then they can brag that they won 1 game in 15 years at the Coliseum. If you’re impressed with that, be impressed with that.

      • Ha.. no! UCLA is surrounded with talent… There should be No way a broken down, less depth USC team should beat this UCLA team.. USC should be terrible this year.. This game and season is not about other teams..it’s about saying F the NCAA

  6. Where was Evans in the ASU game?

I guess he would’ve had a bigger game if Hundley wasn’t spending half the game on his back. Unfortunately for UCLA, we don’t only have one stud in the front 7.

    • Yes, exactly. Hundley made one nice throw for a long touchdown, but under pressure he couldn’t do too much with his arm. Even when he had time, he missed some open receivers. So, hopefully, we won’t see any soft zone coverage where hundley sneaks out for a five yard gain–bring the house.

      • It will come down to what made the difference last year: turnovers and special teams.

We spotted them a 21 point lead and nearly came back until Walker decided to turn his head to the right and ignore what was in front of him. :/

    • “Studs”? LMAO you’re full of crap, your front line played over their heads vs. Stanford. And only against weak competition have they done squat

      • Leonard Williams and Kennard aren’t exactly chopped liver. When Breslin was healthy, that’s 3…

Go ask your boy Fitts and Vanderdoes why they didn’t come here. At UCLA, they have a much better shot at seeing the field especially with Datone gone.

  7. It is always the loudest mouth that makes the fool of itself before a match and before all cite Cassius Clay/Muhammad Ali his mouth finally caught him out in 1978.

Evans is a fool and it is telling that the coaches haven’t changed this nonsense in over 50 years – as Bailey said “Everyone hates USC.” just as everyone hates the NYY.

    • Forgive Sam Gilbert U. He obviously forgot that UCLA has a past tainted in deceit and dishonesty. At least we gave our natty back.

      • It does get tiresome when the ol’ SC warhorses trundle the corpse of Sam G out and jabber on about how if it weren’t for him, Wooden wouldn’t have won any of his 10 natties. Please.

        • Kind of how we feel about being accused of cheating for something Reggie’s dad probably did. Oh yeah, there was no proof of cheating either. Puleeez! At least we paid a penance you disgusting, filthy cheaters. Go Ate Clap yourself.

          • Look at you. You’re a bored little troll. If you didn’t need attention in life, you’d post on your own board and have no need for recognition from us. You’ll never find me reminding bRuins that they are filthy cheats who never repented for years of Sam Gilbert dishonesty or their board. Truth hurts don’t it guttie?

          • Stabbed me through the heart. Don’t know how I’ll ever recover. You are new here… which makes me think you might be one of Joe Blow’s 15 ailases. Though Joe knows how to control his temper… Have a great evening there, compadre.

          • I don’t care about you or need recognition from you. If you have self-confidence and a life, then prove it and retreat to you board and never show up in our forum in desperate need of attention again. Sorry that dad ignored you and mom was more interested in tennis.

          • Have a wonderful Thanksgiving, my friend. Looking forward to many equally engaging, intelligent interchanges with you in the future.

      • I think you are a little off kilter here. When did I mention anything about cheating? It is simply about the irony of SC boasting that they “own LA” when you enter the McKay center and then get upset when a UCLA player talks before the game as if SC never talks. So, trotting out the rotting corpse of Sam Gilbert has nothing to do with my comment.

        • Nobody cares about you here, Gilbert. We will not give you any attention that you so desperately crave. We are committed to your ridicule and torment. We mean you no good will. So just go away and be “civil” with your boys.

  8. I guess Shaq Evans was right all along!! UCLA does “run this town” afterall!! eat crow, Trojans!!
