Steve Sarkisian Announcement Should Be Soon

An official announcement that Steve Sarkisian will be USC’s next coach should be coming. It would be a familiar hire. But is it inspiring?

  1. very safe hire…..appears Haddn is more intersted in avoiding the embarrassment of getting turned down by more top line coaches!!!

it would be like Bruins hiring Norm Chow as Head Coach!!

    • He was goofy – even a t@ppette’ like you remembers – Chow came in with his skill and the assistant Neuheisel insisted a new ‘pistol’ would be best

  2. I’ve said it many times, all Haden hires have been botched to say the least. I hoped it would be different for football, but clearly not. I also find the timing odd. No interview for CEO? What would have happened had SC beat UCLA?

  3. Good hire if Coach O retained as line coach and most importantly his strength “recruiting”

      • help me rusoviet…why are we acting like Coach O and the Carroll tree are the only folks in the world who can recruit…recruits flock to winning programs not mediocre ones. We just saw that with Kiffin.

  4. Really? I was hoping he would go outside the “pete carroll coaching tree” and hire Franklin or Petersen. With Petersen dropping out I was hoping Franklin was a done deal. How does this move the program forward? Sark wasn’t that great at Washington and he’s a nicer version of Kiffin. If we lose Coach O as well then this hiring set us back 5 years

  5. i could see MAYBE the Agin’ Cajun would stick around if they hired a hotshot coach…..but Sark is a slap in the face to the beloved Coach O!!!

Coach O had a better record than Sark did this season!! and he took over a collapsing team!!!

so he has to stand back as Sark takes over??? no es muy bueno!!!

i didn’t think Hadden could muck this up this bad, but he managed to do it!!

    • Coach O must feel like lefty from the donnie brasco movie could never be the boss, but all these young punks pass him up.

    • I have to agree with you Chuckie, this is a slap in the face to Orgeron. I could see him sticking around if a big name coach was hired (like Gruden), but I fully expect Orgeron to be polishing off the resume as we speak.

    • From one horrible looking visor to the next. I wonder how close Todd Graham was to being offered with his stupid looking flat top and Madonna headset! What a dumb hire.

  6. UW now has a shot to land Franklin. If they do, and SC loses to UW at their next meeting, Haden is fired in the parking lot.

  7. I’m gonna go out on a limb and guess that Haden did this with Coach O’s blessing and support. More surprised that Sark took it. Sark was on course with enough space to operate to be the coaching heir to Don James.

  8. What a terrible hire. I’ve lost all faith in Haden. This is terrible news for USC football.

Haden hit a home run with the basketball hire and struck out big time with the only hire that really matters at Heritage Hall.

    • No HR with bball hire. Not condemning CAE, but it wasn’t an HR. it was a hire of a flavor of the month after months of searching

  9. I’m beginning to sense this is a shrewd move by Pat Haden – Sark knows the territory for recruiting and also knows Coach O – he also knows what not to do as Kiffin did.

We should all be grateful – seamless transition – if there was any animosity between Orgeron and Sarkisian this would not be a reality – let’s see how this plays out immediately on the recruiting trail – that is what Orgeron bluntly made known to Haden et. al. that that was the greatest need to be addressed.

    • This is possible, but I think it’s wishful thinking. Sark is not qualified to be head coach at USC. This is beyond ridiculous. We needed a Petersen or a Franklin in here.

      • I had the same reaction at first, but then I looked at UW’s rate of progression during Sark’s tenure. 0-12 in 2008 the year before he arrived. Then 5-7 his first year, beating #3 USC and playing #11LSU tough. 7-6 the next three years, then 8-4 this year. It’s a solid rate of improvement, especially considering where the program was, and that he did it without the advantages of being at USC.

  10. What in god’s name about Sarks resume, OTHER than he was here during some PC glory days, told Haden THIS was the guy to pick?

  11. Well atleast we know who we will hire after Sark gets fired. Norm Chow. Then when he’s ready to get fired, Leinart will be looking to get into coaching. Hopefully by then we will have woken up and hire a coach who can actually lead us to Championships.

  12. Only bright spot to this steaming pile of turd Haden left us with is that Mora Jr. may jump at the chance to return to his alma mater to coach.

  13. Bruce Feldman on CBS Sports left this gem as to the possible replacement hire for WA – none other than Jim Mora!

  14. So Sark would jump at the chance to come back to SC after 5 years at Wash. Did he feel he has taken that program as far as it will go? This is the best Haden could get? Is Coach O staying realizing his role as Assistant is optimal for him? Sark is an honorable straight up guy. He turned down the Raider job knowing it wasn’t right for him. My scalp is bleeding from all the scratching!

  15. When you look up stupid in the dictionary you will see dump popular coach for was there once coach. I’ll bet Haden thinks he was smart for keeping this under the radar Wolf only guessed this once or twice.

  16. As a Bruin faithful fan, I was hoping Oregeron would be hired, but I think Sarkisian is the next best thing for the Bruins. I was really shaking in my boots when I heard Franklin’s name, and Peterson’s name being thrown in the mix along with Del Rio. C’mon Sark!!! sign the damn thing!!!
