The Lane Kiffin Makeup Bowl

kiffinsunbowl

A year ago USC played in the Sun Bowl. A talking point was Lane Kiffin’s attire and I pointed out he showed up at a press conference the day before the game with a scrape between his eyes. But only recently did I find out that a female staffer applied makeup to the scrape in the locker room.

So why did he wear the sunglasses, hat and hood if he wore concealer? The Sun Bowl could even change its name to the Maybelline Sun Bowl.

  1. Did you really start a thread about Lane Kiffin wearing makeup to last year’s bowl game?

    Obsess much?

  2. Any subject with Kiffin in it is answered by a “Who cares!”

Now, back to SC-SUCLA recruiting in the previous post. There are 10 million L.A. County people and 38 million Californians. That’s a lot of football talent to choose from. And in fact, schools like Oregon St, Arizona St, Washington etc poach California for over 1/3 of their players.

That said, both SC and SUCLA should have their pick of a lot of low hanging fruit, and both will do well. So winning comes down to player development, coaching and a pinch of luck

Problem is with the Pac-12 loaded with talent at most schools and led by quality coaches, it will be hard for a school to qualify for one of the Top-4 positions starting in 2014.

    • Excellent points. It will also be difficult for any one team to dominate the league. For SC fans, the Carroll days aren’t simply coming back because the league is much stronger from top to bottom. It would be unfair to compare Sark to that standard.

      • Wow. Enlightening.

Except, somehow, teams like Bama dominate in strong conferences. To think that a team cannot be dominant because they are picking recruits from the same area and thus are similar talent wise and are competing against similarly strong teams is inane.

Sark is thus compared to those standards – that it is difficult but not impossible to win championships – back to back, even – in strong conferences. To say Sark is not the man is a valid point, to say it cannot be done is wrong.

        • I think my first line said difficult if you look at it again. And no, Sark is not Carroll in my eyes. The simple point is that the landscape is far different than what Carroll had to deal with. Stanford has won 2 PAC-12 titles in a row, but they haven’t really had a shot at a NC.

        • Except Alabama didn’t dominate, even with this exception run of recruiting classes.

In 2011 they won he BCS title and not only didn’t win the SEC, they didn’t even go to the SEC title game.

          In 2012 they dominated.

In 2013 they again didn’t even go to he SEC title game.

This is not to take away from Saban’s success. But they definitely did not dominate the SEC. The conference is just too strong.

          • Alabama hasn’t dominated? Seriously? Ask the other SEC teams what they think about that. Other teams may have done well, but what SEC team has done as well as Bama for the past five years? No one.

          • Dominated would connote multiple conference championships. Alabama has only made one SEC title game in this three year run.

Alabama has been the best team in the SEC. But it hasn’t dominated this incredibly difficult conference.

          • Hey junior…don’t let the facts get in the way…You wish you knuckleheads were as “weak” as Alabama! I guess thats why they call it YESTERDAY U!
            fit Un!

          • You should read the posts before you reply. The facts didn’t get in the way, unless of course you hate anything that supports a great school like SC. Posting negative comments just because you’re bitter about living in your mom’s basement while SC grads attain success all around you is no reason to troll all day. Go find a job a$$ clown….

      • No kidding. Look who Carroll competed against. Karl Dorrell. Rick Neuheisel. Dirk Koettler. Bill Doba. Ty Willingham. Keith Gilbertson. Walt Harris. Buddy Teevens. Every so often Mike Price, and Jeff Teford and Bellotti would give him trouble. Now Mike Leach coaches at the least desirable Pac-12 program.

  3. “Inside Kiffin”

On a note more closer to reality (but not much!) – ESPN was reporting that USC might face Kiffin soon… as a HC at Fresno State or as OC if Tedford gets the HC position at Fresno State. Another possibility would be they could face Orgeron if he took the HC position at Fresno State.

    • PS: all this assumes the current HC at Fresno State would be offered elsewhere, and given his record my “sources” are telling me he is a hot commodity and would be “on fire” as Chuckie says if he beats USC.

  4. Everybody calm down. I’m pretty sure that someone hacked the Daily News website and that this is a brilliant parody of a Wolf blog post.

  5. ‘Because silly’ he was told that his ‘stalker’ was ‘looking’ for him – you cuddles!

  6. Hahahahahah they can have Kiffy, Orgeron and Tedford…It all depends who is the HC. But we know for a fact that if those players don’t get cookies they wont play for anyone!!! I still cant wait to see kenedy bust an 8 clap… AWKWARD

  7. Scott. This is now into the realm of being down right creepy. You have really got to get a life boy! Your obsession with Kiffin is just wrong. I suggest you get the Jammie’s on…mommy will be tucking you in soon. Don’t forget to brush your teeth.

  8. Lane Kiffin did look like a “Dumb Azz” on the sidelines of that game, and probably still does when he walks around his Manhattan Beach community . I’m sure it was well worth it to the Coach that dotted his eye…lmao !! And in the long run one is still in College Football at another Great University and the other is still at home with a FAT Wallet but still looks like a “Dumb Azz” .

    • Typically…those dreaded “Character issues” are overlooked at good ol’ LIMBO U….whether it’s Players or Coaches/Teachers (Cheaty, Garrett, Goat Boy, O’Neil, Floyd)…As they chanted in that Bill Murray movie…..”It just doesn’t matter”.
No wonder you guys are all proud and arrogant!
      fit UN!

      • Toledo, Dorrell, Neuheisal – living in glass houses but still throwing stones? Clearly you’re an A$$ clown. BTW, we still have so many more NCs, Heismans, a better ranked school, a far superior tradition, greater pageantry, and no gov’t handouts – hard not to be arrogant (especially in comparison to FUCLA). Now go perfect that retarded eight-clap as you ride to school on your short yellow bus….

  9. Latest from ESPN on Kiffin’s stint @ TN – note the nuanced way he dealt with rejection –

    Alshon Jeffery
was a very productive receiver for South Carolina, and is now one of
2013’s breakout stars in the NFL. But when he was recruiting Jeffery out
of high school, former USC coach Lane Kiffin told Jeffery that he would
be pumping gas if he went to South Carolina.

Kiffin was the coach at Tennessee at the time, and said it after it Jeffery was intent on going to South Carolina.

    From ESPN:

Kiffin was equally dogged. But when it was obvious that Jeffery wasn’t going to Tennessee, Kiffin took off the gloves.

According to Jeffrey and Wilson, Kiffin told Jeffery that if he chose
the Gamecocks, he would end up pumping gas for the rest of his life
like all the other players from that state who had gone to South
    Carolina.

It’s easy to make fun of Kiffin now given what’s transpired in his time at USC, but it’s imperative to note that he went to USC and ended up driving an ice cream truck. And after he went to USC, Lane Kiffin ended up hanging out on the beach with Matt Leinart.

Jeffery currently has 75 catches for 1,193 yards and six touchdowns. Advantage him.

Truly unbelievable and good riddance to bad business!
