So how crazy will this board get when they hire Lane Kiffin and put his record at USC in the perspective of the scholarship reductions? Kiff needs huge booster support at UT, not press support like here. They will like a coach with no personality who will just nose to grindstone and win. Thus the interest in Saban.
Yet the scholarship reductions are just starting to effect the team now, not when Kiffin had the preseason #1 team with skill players like Matt Barkely who were largely recruited by Pete Carroll.
The internet would break if they hired Kiffin. Won’t happen, but it’s funny to think what that would do to Wolf’s head!
I know Texas will get it right , USC has a long history of not hiring the right Football Coach. Ted Tollner, Larry Smith, Paul Hackett , Lane Kiffin and you can add Steve Sarkisian to the list, because there is nothing about him or his History that says he is capable of leading the Trojans to a National Championship.
Texas hadn’t won a NC in like thirty years before MB and they have been getting it right? SC has a richer history when it comes to hiring great coaches.
USC has done “Squat” over the last 10 years when it comes to hiring successful Coaches, that’s why their Baseball , Men and Woman’s Basketball Teams are in SHAMBLES !! They struck gold when they fell upon Pete Carroll, and that’s because Carroll inquired about the job because his Daughter was on the Volleyball Team at the time.
Don’t be so sure about Texas getting it right. My wife and her parents went to UT so I’ve watched a lot of their games over the years. There was mounting frustration amongst the fan base up through Vince Young’s sophomore year. “Mack Brown can’t win the big one” and that kind of stuff…

You have a point there Fred. But I’m going to cut Sark slack until he proves himself one way or the other. As far as Larry Smith, I liked him except for the last few years. I went to USC from 86-90, and we went to three Rose Bowls with Smith, so that was fun. But then again, Rodney Peete was our QB, and I consider Rodney one of USC’s best ever QBs.
He already proved himself at UW- 5 years of nothing. Poor Larry Smith, may he rest in peace, had the table set and then Marinovich destroyed him.
There was nothing outstanding about Pete either.

How about a story on the big OL recruit we just got with Chris Brown? Sark has done a great job getting some good taken in much needed positions in 2 weeks.
