What Happened With Charlie Strong?

STRONG

The same Pac-12 coach I spoke to earlier about Ed Orgeron wondered why USC never spoke to Louisville coach Charlie Strong, who enjoys a good reputation in coaching circles.

Obviously he just wasn’t part of the comfort zone with no Pac-12 ties, booster connections, athletic dept. supporters, etc.

  1. I don’t understand why USC insists on hiring a football coach with previous pac-12 ties? Pete Carroll didn’t have any prior to taking the job and neither did Rich Rod at AZ, or Graham at ASU or Mora across town, or Leach at WSU all of whom are having success. This especially rings hollow since Andy Enfield didn’t have any pac-12 ties before being hired as the basketball coach.

  2. I wonder why Haden didn’t hire this guy. He’s a racist, maybe that was a little too much even for Haden.

    • Depends on what you define “speak” as.

Wolf “spoke” to Mike Riley earlier this year and Wolf was so excited about it, he videotaped it.

I think he told Wolf “hey” or “get out of my way”. Remember that video Wolf posted?

          • And you can’t possibly be a good reporter if you don’t suck up to your subjects, right rah rah?

          • There’s a difference between sucking up and being professional. You must be unemployed.

          • Hmmm… Jim Hill got the FIRST question in at the Sarkisian/Haden press conference. He’s NEVER been known to be a suck up.

Do you even know how a reporter like Hill EARNS the first question at high profile press conferences while guys like your idol Wolf were too scared to even ask a SINGLE question that day?

There was plenty of opportunity during some prolonged moments of silence. Not one iota from your beloved Wolf.

            Any explanation for that?

          • We all know what Wolfie sucks up to. And then there’s you idiot, the big Trojan blog suck-up to Wolfie. Hmmm…

  3. Sark was the only guy they interviewed because Pete said to hire him. Sarknado – you can’t make this stuff up!

  4. Why does USC have to consider every single coach Texas does?

Strong may be paying lip service as all coaches do, but he claims he doesn’t care about the Texas job. What Wolfie doesn’t realize is: Strong is one of the highest paid coaches in college football. He is at a school that doesn’t have massive expectations (he was 7-6 in his first two years). Why leave to a school that is known for being up or out?

  5. Why would USC want a stand up Coach like Charlie Strong ? He might win them a National Championship . Their history of hiring Football Coaches is Horrible !!! Minus Pete Carroll what have they had over the last 25 years ….lol That’s why they hired Steve Sarkisian , they have to stay on course .

  6. Strong wants the Florida job … that is why , he has no interest in USC. Besides we have Steve Suckisian baby the .500 loser from Udub who’s team quits on him regularly
    Quit ON

  7. How do you know USC didn’t make initial contact with him? Perhaps, very early in the process, he said No Thanks?

  8. I have been a huge Charlie Strong fan.. but Haden made the right decision.. (Based on USC / West coast ties)
Only big splash decision that could have been better would have been David Shaw.. and he’s not going anywhere!
