Discuss The Las Vegas Bowl

Who is vindicated most today? Ed Orgeron? Clay Helton? The USC players? I’m guessing not any administrators.

Players are vindicated. Fans were questioning their heart after the UCLA game since the energy was quite different than what it was at the Stanford game (the Colorado game, even, which is where I thought the energy started to die down). Especially with Coach O leaving, I questioned whether Helton could rally.

The kiddies and puppy decided to get sick, so I’ll have to sit down and watch it all the way through, but I did see some interesting plays from Helton (and by interesting I mean not Kiffin predictable).

I’m not sure why O would be vindicated. The team played well without him.

Happy Holidays mikey. I see senility is still a problem for you. BTW mikey your exclamation point s/b a question mark, unless you ex. pt. freak like Elaine Benes. Consult with Lose On if you need chapter and verse reference information.

Shouldn’t he also add in an apostrophe?

      • Joe Blow

Sweating already? Hahahahahaha. You lose, we finish RANKED AHEAD! Hahahahaha

        • HeySUCs

Joey, SUCUDub is still LA’s #1 pee wee princess FB team. Happy Holidays Joey.

          • Joe Blow

HAHAHAHAHAHA Your arm pits are soaked.

HeySUCs: “Dear Lord, OH PLEASE don’t let USC finish ahead of us in the rankings. I know our program is a total disaster and I’m an @$$hole, but I just can’t face anyone after popping off my fat mouth all year. Thank you Lord”

I’m on my way to El Paso. SUN BOWL or BUST!

          • HeySUCs

SUCUdub the #1 pee wee princess team in LA. Happy Holidays Joey. Ho, ho, ho, ho.

          • TrojanFan3.0

How many different usernames has bucket posted under today? The guy is a out of control maniac!

          • Joe Blow

TF, he’s sweating like a pig. Fucla loses to VT and SC is ranked ahead of the bRuins. After shooting his mouth off all season, it comes down to whether or not they can finish ahead of our so so squad.

          • TrojanFan3.0

I think he went 1 for 12 with his predictions this year!

          • FightON

The trolls are especially butthurt tonight. Sadface.

          • Joe Blow

It will be hilarious if we finish ranked ahead of them with the average team we had this year and all the “award winning” players they had. HILARIOUS

      • FightON

LULZ. Aw, no one is paying attention to you. And now you’re mad that USC won so you feel the need to criticize others to make yourself feel better.

Hey, legitimate question – I want a serious answer to this because I am really asking you this – have you tested onto the Autism spectrum? You seem a little Aspie.

        • HeySUCs

Except you, Lose On. Truth stings doesn’t it. You still need two paragraphs to say “Doh.”

      • TrojanFan3.0

Get some sleep, it might help your stamina.

    • Independent_George

Ditto the players. The boards were full of doom and gloom and hate, Petros was predicting a Fresno State blowout, it was ugly. Happy for the players.

The administration was also vindicated. They just showed that anyone not named Lane Kiffin could coach this team to 10 wins.

And let’s stop the Ed Orgeron as Bear Bryant meme. A former position coach whose major responsibility for two and one-half years was to remind Kiffin of the specials on his Denny’s menu just destroyed the Number 20 team in the nation.

Even Bucket could have coached this team to 10 wins.

      • Saul Goodman

“The administration was also vindicated. They just showed that anyone not named Lane Kiffin could coach this team to 10 wins.”

I think that’s the real lesson to be taken from today

        • FightON

Do you ever say anything of value? Or do you just run around with half contrived sentences of “I agree!” or “I disagree!”

Hey, come back to me when you have ideas and thoughts worth reading? Okay? Until then, hang out on your knees with Encinitas – that idiot has been making a fool of himself since the LA Times. Lulz.

          • TrojanFan3.0

Encinitas is not sure what side of the plate to hit from!

      • FightON

I loved Coach O, so I mean no disrespect to him, I just think you’re right: the Trojans attract so much talent that the coaching staff just needs to get out of the way sometimes. Allen has shown this – but he would have been a “what if” guy had Kiffin not left.

Hopefully our recruiting benefits from this.

      • TrojanFan3.0

        Petros is a TOOL!

  • TrojanFamily

The players and Clay Helton. They played well and were well coached. Congratulations on the win…not many teams can fire its coach, lose the interim coach, and still get 10 wins. It’s a good day for USC football.

    • marvgoux1

We lost to Notre Dame and fucla and you are happy because we win a game we should win? We have slipped more than I thought.

      • TrojanFamily

You aren’t happy when the team wins? Pick a different hobby.

        • TrojanFan3.0

He sound like a bucket misfit!

          • marvgoux1

You must be a Bucket sock puppet. No SC fans I know are this insipid.

        • marvgoux1

You are happy after we lose to Notre Dame and fucla? You really are a Sunshine Pumper.

      • TrojanFan3.0

Did someone piss in your cheerios today!

        • marvgoux1

Sunshine Pumpers like you are giddy like a school girl that we beat Fresno State. Real Sc fans are relieved that we beat an average team to end a disappointing season.

  • Isaiahdolan

Clay Helton has been the silent hero through this weird season. Is there were any chance that he would stay?

  • EncinitasBruin

Marquise Lee. Injuries have made it a very tough season. Lots of respect for him – he shined today. It’s good for him as he moves into pre-draft evals.

  • Joe Blow

10 Wins baby. Starting to sweat bRuin trolls? If UCLA loses to a non ranked team, SC will be ranked AHEAD of the bruins. ROFLMAL

    • HeySUCs

I got to hand it to you Joey, when you’re not spinning a sign you’re voluntarily running head first into brick walls.

      • Joe Blow

At least our players don’t fake some injury and have an “operation” so they don’t have to play VT. Hahahahahahahahahaha

        • HeySUCs

          Yawn.

            Like your Season …

          • HeySUCs

UCLA 35 – suc 14 at the decrepit LA mausoleum. Remember, SUC fans were on the freeway headed home with 10 minutes to go in the 4th quarter.

          • FMUSC81

nine win mora …nine win mora ….nine win mora….ceiling our floor
            …truth hurts

      • FMUSC81

Sounds more like you Nine win season… HA HA HA … give more another extension…

    • EncinitasBruin

Joe, currently SC is unranked in both AP and Coaches polls, and #25 in the BCS. So, not sure how the Trojans will jump over a #17-ranked UCLA team, even if the Bruins stumble. I suppose it’s possible in the BCS poll. Either way, very nice win today.

      • Joe Blow

The reason SC would jump ucla is that VT got 1 vote in one of the polls and zero in the other. Easy as that. The pressure is ON for Mora and he boys so giddy over beating a so so SC team. Even the pop offs from Fresno said this was bigger than a BCS Bowl. SC is the standard. No matter how lousy a squad we have.

        • FightON

Is V Tech really going to beat UCLA, though? They’ve been inconsistent and their lead rusher is out with a broken leg. UCLA has more to play for: they want to keep their rankings and get in a 10 win season. What is V Tech playing for? 9-4?

The only hope for the Hokies is that they get some early stops, Hundley gets frustrated, and then chokes.

        • Independent_George

          UCLA kills VT.

Unfortunately. But UCLA is way way better than VT. The ACC, outside of FSU, is like the Pac-10 in the early Carroll years. It is Florida State and the 13 dwarfs.

          • Joe Blow

Just remember this, fucla is fucla.

          • ProbationU

And Notre Dame is Notre Dame. UCLA is UCLA. And you lost to them both. Guess beating Fresno is bigger.

          • Joe Blow

ND has history and tradition. An upper tier program, just like USC. PU and FUcla are second rate. Live with it loser. BTW, at least we played a RANKED team in a bowl.

          • ProbationU

Not now you didn’t. And didn’t you lose to a team in a bowl with a losing record last year? Nice try on that one…and glad you are so happy to beat a team you should beat. Clearly your standards have dropped.

          • Joe Blow

Dwad, if both HC jobs were open today, which do you think would be the most coveted?

          • ProbationU

Joe, you must have been dipping into the stupid juice tonight. You had an impressive list of top tier coaches all lined up to reject SC. Now you settled for a barely above .500 wannabe coach who is “allegedly” your head coach pending another investigation. Well done, Pattie Boy!

And you are on here bragging about a win in the Las Vegas Bowl over Fresno State…the team that barely beat 1-11 Hawaii. Take a look at who they played and I think the win is not so impressive. But hey, now you are trying to sell the idea that the Mighty Boys of Troy are better than the team that recently smoked them by 3 TD’s at the Coliseum. Get out of the Kool-Aid Joey Boy and get real.

          • Joe Blow

I am real, it’s you fucla pukes than have been drinking Kool Aid all year. Wait until Barr and Hundley leave. Will be hilarious, not to mention if you lose to a horrible VT. OH MY!

          • ProbationU

Let me lay if out for you, Mr. Blow.

Hundley is staying. It’s weak for you to be rooting for him to leave. With or without Hundley, we will beat SC for the 3rd time in a row next November.

Also, we will close out on signing day with a top 10 class again.

Sark will recruit okay but not at the same level he did at Washington without his bag man, Tosh Lupoi.

UCLA will be in a BCS bowl game next year. If that is my Kool-Aid, then yes,,. I am drinking it.

We are not celebrating being in the Alamo Bowl. We will win the game.

I am surprised that you are celebrating like you just won a BCS game. Fresno State was way overrated. They beat nobody and there are 7 PAC-12 teams that are better. That being said, it was a nice conclusion for your kids after all the coaching issues to win 10 games.

          • Joe Blow

Take a knee everyone, I’ll lay it out:

No matter what Hundley or any other player does, fucla is a dog sh!$ program, second rate to SC no matter how good or bad SC’s team is. F Mora. Sark will make him look like a Cub Scout Troop Master. You’ve been drinking Kool Aid all year and nobody cares. You beat a lousy SC team. Big Deal.

Glad you see the light on the SUN BOWL, not Alamo Bowl (which is even HIGHER). You should know your football before popping off.

VT is NOT RANKED ANYWHERE. Of course you should win. BUT, if you don’t the DISASTER continues.

BTW, let me know how much you want to bet on a BCS bowl next year. WON’T HAPPEN,

          • ProbationU

Alamo Bowl..Sun Bowl…both crap games in Texas. Not great either way. Las Vegas Bowl…enjoy it…sounds like it made your day.

Ever since you put that sign up on the McKay center about owning LA….you have been owned by the Bruins. That is the new tradition….9 win Mora…10 win Mora…11 win Mora….versus 7 win Sark. Sark doesn’t scare anyone other than knowledgeable SC fans…of which you aren’t one. Enjoy that Sark Kool-Aid. Bound to end up tasting bitter in the end.

You might be right. But they are a better team than VT. By far.

          • ProbationU

VT beat Miami. Fresno has no comparable wins. If you look at their results a little closer, not real impressive. Gave up 62 points to San Jose State.

      • TrojanFan3.0

      • Joe Blow

We are HORRIBLE and STILL have a chance to beat a sub par football program like fucla. BOOOOOOM! Crotch Kick!!

  • Evil Robot

I think the older players deserve a ton of credit. This is far from a great SC team. However, when you consider that they committed to Pete Carroll, then got jammed with a terrible head coach in Kiffin, hit with sanctions for something that happened before they could drive, then had a season with three head coaches and still managed to have a 10 win season where they will probably finish in the top 20, the season is a relative success. I can’t think of a team that has had things go so bad that they dump the coach and still rally to end up with double digit wins. As a fan, I was happy to see SC return to playing an exciting style of football once Kiffin was gone. Losing to the Bruins & Irish still stings.

  • WEB_Dupree

I admit, I kind of want to try that ridiculous nacho thing in those Taco Bell ads.

    • FIGHTONtoVICTORY

      Please no…

  • rusoviet

50 scholarship players – three head coaches in one season – a tough loss to our oldest intersectional rival followed by a solid beat down by the foe who so loathes us a mere two weeks ago and now another 10 victory season making it three of the last four – well done Trojans

    • Joe Blow

And a win by VT will make this one of the most enjoyable seasons in a long time.

      • rusoviet

        Amen!

But ‘jb’ can someone tell me how it is that WA st. lost to CO St.? Huge lead – a 4th qtr. fumble that went back to WA St. – a horrible fumble that didn’t and then that TD followed by the 2 pointer and suddenly, in regulation, a game winning FG by CO St.!

        • Joe Blow

Same way Fucla will finish behind us. CHOKE. WSU thought they had it in the bag. No concentration. CHOKED.

          • Independent_George

The “air raid” offense. If you aren’t scoring every possession, you are losing.

Unless you go against a Lane Kiffin coached team. Then you don’t even have to score a TD on offense.

          • rusoviet

I sure wish someone would give the details of what led Kiffin to sack Polamalu last December.

          • FightON

Wasn’t there a fight between the two? There was speculation that Pola called out Kiffin with ideas about how things should be done and Kiffin didn’t like being questioned, so he got rid of Pola.

          • Independent_George

Scott wrote live chat last week that there was no fight. Pola just believed Kiffin was making bad, bad decisions, and he voiced his opinion.

The hearsay i heard was that Kiffin was falling down drunk and, well, he fell down.

If Kiffin had fought Pola, who, physically, would destroy Lane, then at least you could argue that he had some cojones.

But for a head coach to turn into a falling down drunk and get a black eye before a bowl game, that is pathetic.

BTW: I hate to extend Scottie’s Kiffin obsession, but I don’t see how Kffin gets a major college program coordinator position in the near future. Y’all read the reaction to his visit with Saban, who at this time is the most bullet-proof coach in sports? People went insane! At Saban! And forced him to comment.

Kiffin needs to settle in as a position coach in the NFL, if they even want him. After this year, I am not sure that the Kiffin name means anything other than loyalty from former assistants towards Monte.

          • FightON

Sorry for not clarifying – I meant I read they had a verbal argument, not a physical fight. Seems like what Coach O implemented (open practices, loose atmosphere, etc) was what many other people wanted. Pola just voiced it. Funny thing is – Kiffin then went on TV and claimed he was a changed man, that he should have hired a coordinator and been more in touch with the kids!

Maybe Monte can work some strings and get Lane a job.

          • Independent_George

I am not sure the name “Kiffin” carries the same cache amongst coaching circles as it might have, say three years ago.

          • rusoviet

Thanks FightON – and thank you Lane for sacking Kennedy you complete back end of a horse thanks ‘Lane’ – if there is a role for ‘nerd’ and the bathroom monitor Kiffin is the perfect actor because he won’t have to act -

          • rusoviet

Thanks ‘I’ George – frankly because of his father (Monte) I’d be amazed if anyone would cotten up to Lane right now – maybe in a year or so but I’d say he has earned a well deserved banning to whatever is the equivalent of the ‘wilderness’ minimum of one year – maybe that clown will finally understand how unbelievable it was that so many programs actually took a chance on him and he repaid it with both gross ineptitude and arrogance – his recruiting tactics did USC no favor – he’s been well paid and had a big remaining balance on his contract. I am just sorry he wasn’t thrown out sooner and I could care less of his cerebral skill – he was a complete disaster when it came to dealing with real people.

          • marvgoux1

I bet he ends up being a regular on ESPN Game Day next season.

          • Ben Factor

Few were more scathing than I about Lane Kiffin.

He did NOT fall down drunk before the game. I would bet money on that.

          • ProbationU

Already finished behind the Bruins by 21 points. DONE.

          • Joe Blow

Back peddle Back peddle. Starting to sweat? Hahahahahaha. You get beat by VT, YOU ARE BEHIND AGAIN! And we had a lousy squad. ROFLMAO

          • ProbationU

The only BEHIND was SC’s behind that we kicked on 11/30. Why so jubilant after beating Fresno State? Isn’t Mighty Troy supposed to beat Fresno State? The Bruins will handle VT with ease and you can enjoy the rest of the evening moping around your trailer in El Segundo.

          • Joe Blow

FS was a game away from a BCS bowl, not the toilet bowl like fucla. They were #20. VT is number 0. I’ll enjoy the rest of my evening with your wife and daughter taking turns servicing my unit. Have fun doing your OWN. ROFLMAO

          • ProbationU

Fresno gave up 62 to San Jose State…hardly a juggernaut. And as far as your unit…it is clearly self-serve and simply a finger food.

          • Joe Blow

SC was favored by 6.5 open. Fucla is favored by 7 against a no name. Let’s see by how many points they beat a dog like VT.

          • ProbationU

And SC was favored on 11/30. by how many? How did that work out for you? Time to spread a very little bit of cooking oil on that cocktail weenie of yours and call it a night.

          • Joe Blow

That’s the problem with you bRuin pukes. You’re so full of bull sh$%. Always trying to change the subject because you’re second rate. Live with it loser.

          • ProbationU

I can live with 35-14. Pretty sorry existence to call the season “enjoyable” based upon UCLA vs. Va Tech. You lost to ND and UCLA and still hanging your happiness on the Bruins! What a sad POS.

And now…your favorite pick as Head Coach…..trained by your idol…Pete the Cheat Carroll possibly has you in the crosshairs again. Who will be your 5th coach this year?

          • marvgoux1

You are too hysterical to realize that beating Fresno State is expected at USC.

          • Cheap seats

Well, if you really must know, treating any game like a practice game (using 2 QBs, resting key players, etc) is a huge gamble — even with Wash St.

Also, if you haven’t noticed, our offensive line has played much better since Lance left.

          • Ben Factor

They deserved MVP today, not Kessler. On many plays, Kessler could have read a magazine back there before deciding on a target.

USC totally outclassed FSU in the trenches, which is why it was a rout.

          • Cheap seats

And FSU was one of the leaders in the nation in sacks. The unit really came together under coach O.

          • marvgoux1

Did you learn that at the Football For Women class?

      • ThaiMex

Ahhhh the pain….feels so sweet! Glad to see you knuckleheads are fixated on The mighty UCLA Bruins just moments after a boring win. Don’t sweat it Nubsie….your “boyfriend”, Fail, will soon be there to give you comfort.

        • FMUSC81

Be honest how embarrassing will it be when you lose to a unranked VT team ??? to have Nine win Mora ? Pressure on little guttie

          • Toejam For Life

You only got 10 wins because you played an extra game and only two were serious competition! Washington State sure looked tough on College Football Loser Weekend!

          • FMUSC81

It chaps your a$$ when USC wins.

      • marvgoux1

Any season when we lose to both Notre Dame and fucla is not enjoyable.

        • TrojanFan3.0

Do you ever have anything positive to say?

          • Gollum-Wolf

Only when the tool is shilling for Gargamel…

          • marvgoux1

Go slink back into your hole you freak.

          • Gollum-Wolf

Projecting again? No one here brought up your proclivities…

          • marvgoux1

Real USC Fans don’t settle for wins over Fresno State. You Sunshine Pumpers simply don’t understand that at USC we expect nothing less than national championships, not Vegas Bowl championships. Your standards are similar to fucla fans who are quite content to make the Sun Bowl.

          • TrojanFan3.0

            Lame!!!!!!!

      • Lajollaboy

At this time of year, we want the conference as a whole to do well. So we should root for UCLA. The better the conference does as a whole, the better our rankings are next year.

        • FIGHTONtoVICTORY

Wrong. USC doesn’t need the Pac12 to do well. Look at how bad the Pac10 was during the Carroll era. The Pac12 needs USC to be good. And something I learned a long time ago, NEVER ROOT FOR fucla

          • Lajollaboy

I agree the Pac 12 need SC to be good but it also needs all the other teams to do well to compete with conferences like the SEC. If the Pac 12 does well, we get more recognition. I don’t like rooting for UCLA and I’m an SC alum but it is important from a national perspective.

          • HeySUCs

            Whoa Nellie!

          • marvgoux1

            Amen.

    • Trogan Fan

Why do you insist there are only 50 scholarship players? SC has 74 guys on scholarship this year.

  • Ray Reyes

Bottom line. Great win for CoachClay (Hope the reports that he is retained are true) and the rest of the team! FIGHT ON!!! Now bring back Coach O and my home on Indian River in North Vancouver will be happy! FIGHT ON!!!

  • Ray Reyes

Where is Charlie BTW? LIKE I CARE

  • Sportsblab Jones

Wolf is vindicated most. His pregame analysis was spot on! Everything he wrote about Chris Peterson, James Franklin, Marques Tuiasosopo . . . really helpful background for fans tuning into the bowl game.

  • gillyking

Great to get the win. Very discouraged that the coaches made no adjustments at the half.. We should have scored in the 60′s… Fresneck was so over rated and would have also gotten killed in a BCS matchup lol…

  • B.Miller

USC FANS, and ALL OF USC! Giving the big middle finger to the NCAA!

2 – 10 WIN SEASONS UNDER SANCTIONS! BOOM!
