USC Morning Buzz: Steve Sarkisian Staff Update

Steve Sarkisian said Baltimore Ravens assistant coach Todd Washington will not be coming to USC, which means someone else will coach the offensive line.

USC is still trying to negotiate a buyout with Washington for defensive coordinator Justin Wilcox. The Trojans want to pay less than the $1 million stated in Wilcox’s contract. An announcement on his status will probably be made after the Huskies play in the Fight Hunger Bowl.

  1. I’m still waiting for somebody to explain the hype about Justin Wilcox ……….when you sign 5 star recruits every single year most competant defensive coordinators can coordinate that team sucessfully .

    • The real question is: how would Justin Wilcox handle being forced to make so few substitutions? What did USC really have on defense – how many substitutions could they actually make?

We saw how Clancy handled it and I thought he did well in most of the games.

  2. Clancy’s defense was a major improvement over last year. Looked good on Saturday and Clancy has NFL experience. Hard to see Wilcox being an improvement. Why make the change?

    • Sark needs to clean house period!! ANYONE’s DEFENSE would have been a major improvement
did anyone notice everything looked much better when Montague and junior left?? HELLO!!!

      • HELLO!!!
Anyone’s defense may have been an improvement, but not anyone’s defense would have improved so dramatically. Pendergast does some excellent things, and I for one am hoping he gets a chance to improve on it in year 2.

        • Did you watch the sucla game? I think he did some good things and for that I thank him. He is by no means irreplaceable. Sark needs to clean house and make his own staff

  3. If UW doesn’t negotiate for a substantial bargain, I say we pay the full price the day BEFORE their bowl game and leave running around trying to figure out who their coach is on game day.
