America’s Best Coaching Staff At USC?

If a Washington State assistant becomes defensive line coach and five Washington assistants join the staff plus Tee Martin and Clay Helton, is this the original vision of USC having American’s best coaching staff?

Up yours Wolf. Maybe one day we’ll get the worlds best journalists at the Daily News, covering SC — the team that matters in LA — solidified by its abundance of trolls and coward journalists that won’t man up and have an opinion with a real name on it. Ate CLAP Wolf. Wish you went to SUCLA so I wouldn’t have to share a degree with you anti-trojanite.

      • FightON

Did Wolf really go to USC? Yikes.

        • 1ThaiMexCleansMyToilets1

          Unfortunately

          • 1ThaiMexCleansMyToilets1

And he is so brave, he only “does not read the comments in this blog” by writing under the Bucket (list) and Hey SUCLA handles. So obvious.

        • Cheap seats

Yes…but his refusal to look into the mirror has made his view of life a very bitter one. In turn, it’s developed a mindset where he thinks everyone around is out to get him. He comes off as a socially awkward person and lacks self confidence.

This would’ve happened if he attended UCLA or even Pasadena City College. He would’ve blamed everyone around him for his own problems. Of course, Wolf doesn’t know that — the grass is always greener to him.

  • TDOG

Duhhh is this the “American’s” worst journalist plus closet TS/Trojan troller ever?

    • rusoviet

Much as I always enjoyed TJ Simers – his blunt refusal to ever mock ‘jonnie’ or ‘vin-dawg chevrolet’ renders him as the pu%z extraordinaire…hmm there’s old tj…dying down in the OC ’cause no one reads the Register!’

      • HeySuxx

Not so Comerade. TJ published about 15 Suxx email rants regarding TJ’s pointed column about Suxx Vegas Bowl behavior. Not one of the silly rants addressed Simer’s last question in the column – To wit: Where was Suxx character in the UCLA game?

  • rusoviet

Might just be and connected with a very weak schedule next year coupled with a full on competition for ‘qb’ this might be the real deal as it was back in 2002-2003 as Troy resurfaced from a moribund state to national dominance.

The writers and coaches are tired of annointing any SEC school as top dawg – give them a creditable alternative and roll through the year.

  • UCLA Owns the Rose Bowl

LOL Scott. pUSC doesn’t even have the best staff in Los Angeles. No more eggnog for you, my friend!

    • FightON

Every single time I see your username I think of how ignorant you are.

UCLA has appeared in 12 Rose Bowls and has won 5. USC has appeared in 33 and has won 24. HAHAHA.

Why do you even show yourself here?

      • https://www.facebook.com/charles.bucket.3 Charlie Bucket

Every time I see your name, I feel grossed out!

        • FightON

Wait..you cruise for anon relations because no one will be with you and then when you get used like the bucket you are, you come sulking over here and you are calling me gross? Stop it, Wolfie.

You are just so UNCLEAN and gross. I’m changing your name to “La Bufadora”….

35-14. 38-28. I tell you what, Yesterday U, do something (ANYTHING) in this decade, and you can pop off.

        • FightON

We’ve beat you seven times from 2004-2013 (i.e. the last ten seasons). And you are bragging about two wins?

Again, why do you show yourself here?

          • HeySuxx

But LoseOn, doesn’t UCLA hold the record for most consecutive wins (eight) in the UCLA/Suxx series. Just some food for thought. Happy Holidays

          • 1ThaiMexCleansMyToilets1

And pray tell SUCLA aka Wolf, who has won the most in the series? Just some food for thought. Happy Holidays.

          • HeySuxx

Suxx has. BFD. This year in the mausoleum, where the fake Trojan plants his Hollywood plastic prop sword, UCLA kicked Suxx booty 35 – 14, and it wasn’t even that close Toilet Bowl. Your shtick is passé, go back to what you do best, listing Fontana shacks.

          • 1ThaiMexCleansMyToilets1

That’s right! We are SO relevant and you keep underscoring it here. Even when you win, you still have to scream for respect. If you have to tell us who you is you ain’t shizzle. If you really was legit, you wouldn’t need recognition. How is your mobile home in Fontana anyways? I phaqued your mom in it and now I’m peeing fire. That wholesome church goer. Yep, got the CLAP. Ate it.

        • 1ThaiMexCleansMyToilets1

Why is this decade so relevant? And who says you make the rules? Everyone talks about us. Count how many times USC gets said vs. How many times our maid’s school gets mentioned on CFGD. Even when you win, nobody cares about you so you scream for respect. Your showing up here and peeing on our tree just proves our relevance in your mind. If we were truly irrelevant, you’d have no interest in us. So thank you. And let’s see what you do this decade when Huntley goes pro. Ate CLAP

Replying and proving our subconscious relevance to you, again house cleaner?

          • UCLA Owns the Rose Bowl

House cleaner sounds simple and unstressful… Let’s play a little game: this month I have a book on the NYT Bestsellers list. I’ll let you guess which one it is (hint: there’s more than one list). Merry Christmas.

          • 1ThaiMexCleansMyToilets1

Glad to play. I call your bluff lair. Now get back in my house and take out the trash. Maid.

          • UCLA Owns the Rose Bowl

Rule making rests in the hands of the victorious. Win (at least) a P12S title, or a game against one of your rivals. Until then, be a people who knows when they are conquered.

          • 1ThaiMexCleansMyToilets1

Wrong. Rule making belongs to the series victor. Yep, that ain’t you Beatrice. Get back in my house and clean it.

          • UCLA Owns the Rose Bowl

I’ll give you another hint, Trojan Ban: “middle grade.” You can figure it out, I know you can…

          • 1ThaiMexCleansMyToilets1

Lets see. I am an SC grad, writing on an SC board. Check. You are a troll, writing where you are unwanted, simply in the interest of inflicting hurt and fomenting hostility. Hmmm. Yep, you’re a house keeper desperate for attention and overwhelmed with insecurity. (If I was wrong, and you we’re secure, would a bunch of Trojan honks really be relevant in your made up NY Times Best Seller world)? They have meds for that now so help is available. Get back inside. You missed a spot on my carpet Beatrice.

      • HeySuxx

Surprise, surprise, he’s not illiterate. Nice work LoseOn.

        • FightON

          You get banned?

Probably because you are a racist and everyone was growing tired of it. That and your obsession with me.

Hey, you never answered my question: are you an Aspie? It’s a legitimate question because it would explain your tendency to view issues as true opposites (think hot versus cold). Apparently, you think that American dialect is restricted to common definitions. Have you heard of colloquialisms or slang? Because, you know, when you say some is “sick” you functionally mean that it is “cool.” Sort of in the way you would call someone “illiterate” when you functionally mean “ignorant.” Did you skip English class?

          • HeySuxx

A word to the wise genius, never skip a chance to shut up.

If you count the head coach the average drops the Southern Cali coaching staff to fourth in the Pac 12 South.
PS. Merry Christmas and Thanks for everything St. Pat!

  • Fred Sampson

I’ve been saying it all along , no top assistant coach is going to join Steve Sarkisians staff unless he over pays them . Sarsisian has proven himself to be a very average coach over the last 5 years , and the only one who does not see this is Pat Hayden . Sarkisian talked a big game during his press conference about attracting College Footballs top coaches , and so far he has come up short ….Big Time !!!!!

    • EncinitasBruin

It’s odd to me. You’d think coaches would be clamoring to take over a Top 5 perennial program… i respect Haden, but he seems over his head in his current capacity.

      • 1ThaiMexCleansMyToilets1

Says a Sam Gilberter. Nobody cares about your opinion.

      • Cheap seats

When it comes to assistants, I think it’s more of a situation of if the hire fits the culture and overall vision.

I initially scratched my head when Mora hired Mazzone especially when Mora seemed more to fit the “defensive minded” category. I would’ve guess him picking a pro-style offensive coordinator.

Of course, it turned out to be a good fit as he already had Hundley waiting in the wings to run the spread offense and senior running back Franklin to keep everything steady.

Looking at our roster, it’s obvious we’re not going to hire a high profile, read-option offensive guy. On defense, I just hope we stick to Pendergast and Ogeron’s style of an attacking front 7 that relies heavily on man-to-man on the back end. Of course, we’d have to get much better at CB.

    • Ben Factor

Fred, I don’t entirely agree with you about this. My take is that top assistants seek jobs that can help them and pay a lot. I think USC falls into that category, with Sark as coach, or any competent alternative.

Sark will not attract a truly top OC, because that OC won’t have the control that he would seek.

Like most incoming coaches, he tends to want to keep his old staff. The devil you know. Hence, his RB coach hire, and the guy with unspecified position group, who served as Sark’s “chief of staff” at UW.

Plus, I think that Sark filled two defensive positions with UW assistants, on the assumption that Wilcox and Lupoi would join them at USC. Per ESPN Pac-12 blogger Gemmell, UW supposedly improved quite a bit on defense in two seasons under Wilcox. Wilcox probably wanted “his guys”, and Sark hired them. Now, is whether Wilcox is coming or not (buyout, Peterson hire, other)? If Wilcox is not coming, hiring those two UW assistants looks questionable, in retrospect.

Cowherd says that Pendergast WON’T recruit. If he stays at DC, the position coaches on D must recruit well. Hence, the strong need for Lupoi, now out of the running, and the push to rehire Orgeron, which has to be a long shot. (Frankly, it’s unfathomable to me that Ed O hasn’t come up with an HC job, given his achievements this year, and the prolonged publicity about his popularity with players. But at any rate, he will certainly end up with a good defensive line/recruiting job. I hope it’s not at UCLA!

You may recall that I agree with you about hiring Sark, and even more so about the process and priorities that seem to have led to the hire. But let’s face it, you and I could turn out to be wrong!

You can’t always hire a “sure thing” as HC, unless the timing gods are smiling on you. And it takes a few years to know what you’ve hired. You know all the examples, just as well as I know them. Would you have hired Jim Mora? How about Graham at ASU?

Personally, I’ve migrated to a wait and see stance. Let’s see who’s the DC, let’s see the end results on signing day, let’s see how the offense unfolds, etc. There will be plenty of time to criticize later. :) Like it or not, we WILL have Sark to kick around for awhile.

      • Fred Sampson

Exactly !! I’ve decided to take a wait and see approach with Sark too .

        • Ben Factor

That’s all we can do. :)

  • WEB_Dupree

It might be Delta’s best coaching staff. Or United’s.

  • john wolcott

Give me Alcindor, Walton and Wicks and I would have won a lot of games at SUCLA, and I cannot tell you the difference between a 2-spot and a 3-spot

If SC gets the players they don’t need great coaching; just some coaching will do

    • rusoviet

Oh no! You forgot the ‘closer” (probation sure hasn’t hmmmm?) ‘ Big Sam the outfit man…hey his squeeze Rose is having a ‘get down charlie brown’ next month – Sam – goes south and two days later sonny boy takes the full hit for bruin backend the bummer daddio – Sam….our Sam…if only…gone are the days…jonnie….sam….JD Morgan….NCAA…cover-up….blame Tarkanian…Roy Firestone runs interference (I mean what else would that back end of a dawg ever do? – Roy Firestone – Billy Crystal’s punk…truly)

      • Ben Factor

So, I guess you think Wooden was simply lucky. Funny, his ex-players NEVER put forth that assertion. Even the ones who fought with Wooden while he coached them. Even the ones who didn’t get to star, or start.

What is the basis for your assertion?

    • ThaiMex

Hey Johnnie boy….I had to laugh…”If $C gets the players”…Whatever happened to “Build it and they will come” (sound of the toilet flushing)..
      fit Un!

      • 1ThaiMexCleansMyToilets1

Yep, you would know the toilet sound. No quarrel there. Ate CLAP

    • 1ThaiMexCleansMyToilets1

You forget all the money those guys got from Sam Gilbert. What a filthy, dishonest, liar Wooden was.

    • Ben Factor

I think you are incorrect, Mr. Wolcott. That is not the way most teams work, particularly at the college level. All relevant coaching skill sets are needed to get to the top. Mere recruiting won’t cut it.

Somehow, PC is perceived as a personality guy who was ignorant about football strategy and teaching. Hardly, after 20 years in the NFL. They ain’t looking for recruiters or cheerleaders there.

UCLA’s recruiting under Wooden didn’t take off until AFTER his “gutty little Bruin” teams won some championships. The right coach creates a virtuous circle, in which positive factors reinforce one another.

  • rusoviet

Hey OR St. 38 Boise St. 13 – 3rd qtr. @ the HI Bowl – any confusion as to why Chris Petersen left Boise St. for WA? Heck he isn’t even there to stem the tide – can’t wait until Mark Wahlberg’s doppleganger encounters reality – won;t be their schedule – home games against Memphis and away @ VA and TX – imagine if Mora loses against TX w. a new coach? Even worse if VA Tech takes them down a week from tonight in ‘…go on and take the money and run…whoo whoo…’ Steve Miller…

Hmmm jonnie all must bow for his canonization with Vin-dawg Chevrolet the skull as MOC and TJ Simers (with that rag in the OC) running interference for his two demi-gods…Oh come let us adore them…for they were truly pure….for jonnie and vin-dawg never encountered problems…they always had their flunkies clean it up….

    • HeySuxx

      No comprende!

Pac-12 for 2013 2 – 1 in bowl games – OR St. just finsihed off Boise St..

I love hearing about the bel-airians and their practice facilities – $50 mil. hmmm 50….million….Pauley renovation over budget…..Mora…desperate for a ‘top 25′ victory…..what happens if he loses to VA Tech? Emotion in locker room….punches a reporter … loses cool ….. screams at an assistant as he did last year (remember class?) ….. can’t lose to VA Tech… they’re not ranked….. oh what a cruel cruel world!….VA Tech…< a week… looming……pressure building…..ahhhh where is jonnie!

OMG….”SCREAMS at an Assistant”…What do you want? Suppose we should toss him in jail? Your drunken Basketball coach was RETAINED for a full year after the incident! The staff is young, and energetic. Add seasoned with Orgeron but doubt it happens. They’ll recruit well.
